DMI XIV - The Code of Junil (FfH)

Lurker Comments
Remnants of Patria give, iirc, +3 Happiness in the Nearest city and additonal hammers on the plot at the discovery of Feudalism, and another tech whose name escapes me.

The Darkness is Coming message occurs at AC 10, and precludes the start of the world into the fall of Armageddon.

As for the dead woman Event, you should have selected the Houseguard- both the Husband and the Butler are both residents of the city and are more than likely to have longstanding contributions while the House Guard is new- nothing is known about him and this makes him the most likely suspect. Plus, the fact that the weapon of choice was a Hammer- why would the Butler chose to take out any frustration on the Lady with such a blunt instrument, when he could just as easily poision their food or through any number of subtle actions, while the House Guard probably used the weapon of opportunity (the hammer) to enact one of Aeron's perverse pleasures and gain favor against one of the Bannor's upstanding nobility.
thanks!

Did 18 turns this time. Nothing major happened, just a few minor progressions. Let's see...

Sent a missionary to Garrim Gyr. He follows order now. There's an acolyte fortified in the wildlands east of us, wouldn't kill us to send him to Valledia if we can get open borders with her (ha ha.)

Popped that goblin lair in our northwest city for a unit trap which I promptly got rid of, popped that undead burrow to the east of us for a source of gems. Charadon founded a city south of it:

Built a bunch of workers and started a settler in capital. Settler should go where the green dot is to scoop up 3 resources and lots of flood plain.

Mined that gold in the east. It's not hooked up by road yet but it's being worked for that sexy commerce.

Got a great prophet and made the Code of Junil with him.

Upgraded our most experienced warriors to axemen.

Researched writing and priesthood, started fanaticism.

Actually remembered to upload a save this time.

Okay then. Trinity's building a library, as it's a prereq for the national epic. Make sure to start the NE as soon as it finishes the library. Once that's done fanaticism will probably be in and we can build the gate there.

Military strategy would be a good post-Fanaticism tech. Valin could have his blitz promo before being handed off to the tard AI, and we'd probably get a free GC to build a command post in Trinity.

The best thing about Valin is that even if the AI manages to kill him (which happens fairly often) he gets reborn as Angel - with all his XP :) ...

I'll post a few observations/comments on your save then.

Valledia founded FoL and spread it to cardith, which kind of sucks since it means we can't bleed them for angels.

AIs have learned Trade, so a bunch of possible trades have opened up. Better get on that.

We can adopt military state, which allows cash rushing. Recommend we do that and set gold slider to 100% so we can cut a bunch of turns off the gate by buying it.

Sorry, but I'll have to ask for a skip on this one, as I'm up in 2 SG's and I have to finish a game in Strategy and Tips.

not to be a stick in the mud, but Xeno hasn't posted since his last set. if he can't get it by tomorrow, i can play.

i'll need some guidance, though. start NE, build "the Gate" (whatever that is) and tech mil strategy....

mil strat is something i teched, as well as trade/fest. (trinity is building the gate right now.)

(Still haven't put a report up, due to that my internet is crashing a lot.)

so, then, what should i research? ahhh....i need guidance....someone tell me what i think i should research next!! :run:

Hmm...

Tech: Currency->Sanitation (Biology haha)->Smelting
(also check if any of these can be traded)
Once Dalin (hero) is built, go Harbor. Move Dalin to some city which is producing units, cast Hope.
Trade stuff from our allies, especially Hunting which lets us build Camp on ivory.

Unless you get declared on by Charadon this will just be mostly pressing enter while gate is being built, and building units like Crusader and Confessor.

Civ4ScreenShot0035.jpg

I gave in, not wanting to provoke a war when i can barely understand the peace of this game. meatbuster wanted me to trade, so i hope i didn't give up too much:
Civ4ScreenShot0037.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0038.jpg

I started on a camp for our Oliphants as well.

we got this event:
Civ4ScreenShot0039.jpg

we discover techs:
Civ4ScreenShot0040.jpg

and a possible final city site...figure we can use it to irrigate to that city "..mtry"
Civ4ScreenShot0041.jpg

idk...this game just seems so much more complex....methinks PH20 is going to ffh related...like a tutorial guide for some newbs....there's just so many possibilities, my tiny american mind reels...

Er... you should've refused and got declared! :(
Did you see the hordes of units we have at the southern city building the gate?
It would've been more fun... besides, this is only... nevermind.

huhwut charadon is following order how can this be

He hasn't got even the slightest distaste or inclination towards any religion in the XML, therefore he treats all religions like the AI in classic Civ4 - convert to the first one that spreads to one of your cities.

Lorewise, I'd guess Charadon's Doviello under Order would emphasis the lawful side of the wolf pack:

Now this is the Law of the Jungle--as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk the Law runneth forward and back--
For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.
