I’m not afraid of Goths. But I bet really old Italians are.

Seriously, I don’t think you can apply the label ‘Goth’ to all of ‘them’. It’s not an international club.

Incidentally, here we don’t call them Goths, we call them ‘Satanists’.

Eh Cimbri, we call them 'Gotere' You know, se der går en goter...

*gasp* ... How can you say that?

I'm christian, incase you didn't know, and they never scream and run away from me... which is what satanists do when they near a church (source: police)

So some do play stupid games with weegie-boards, but not all of them, and I never saw anyone sacrificing virgins to summon evil spirits into this world... so, I can only conclude that you're pre-judging them :(

I find goths scary in the sense of "I find it scary that people exist who are so incredibly pathetic", but I'm definitely not scared in a "run and hide" kind of way.

I was an original old-school Goth from the 1980's. Now I've got a mortgage, a family and a pension fund. Where I once supped absinthe, I now swig Ovaltine.

My oh my, things have changed since I was in High School, I've never heard that term. Oh well.

@stormbind: It's a pet-name that stuck. It's origin is the Nordic 'Satanists' of the early 90's.

I never heard it either and I'm in high school:hmm:

I do agree that calling them satanists is wrong though.

Why are they all pathetic?

Labeling them all Satanists is a lot worse than labeling them all goths. They might call themselves goths when they are, but few of these folk are satanists or 'vampires' or what have you.

I used to know a lot of goth kids. But my friends and I were indie kids. Then they became skater kids. Then my friends became emo kids, and the former goth kids became normal kids. Now, half my friends are emo kids, and half are normal kids. I stayed pretty much the same I guess.
Now here's what I'm scared of. Emo kids. What's an emo kid? It scares me because it's something I don't know and it's probably at my school. *shudder* Self-ignorance is scary.

But seriously, how do you define goth? You can't do it. You can define gothic clothing and music, but not what it actually means to be gothic. So I see no reason in being gothic.

And there aren't any girls at my school that happen to be hot and happen to be goth. I hate the style anyway, it's ugly, IMO. But there seriously aren't any goth girls who would be hot if they dressed ungothic.

I think you are a goth if you have a goth style and listen to goth music. I would say that is a goth. It's not like there has to be anything more about it!

Emo kids have died black hair (even if [especially if] their hair is naturally black) and they wear it in an abnormal way, normally a sort of side parting, with the hair coming down over their foreheads on one side so that it partially covers one eye. They are skinny, and they wear tight shirts to exaggerate that fact. If they wear a T-shirt, it is normally tacky, but probably expensive. Sometimes, they might wear a 60's style poo/muddy coloured shirt (possibly with horizontal stripes of brown, green and dull yellow), and in winter they may opt for a woolly tank top (not sure if Americans use the same word, or if I'm getting confused...). They wear belts, normally the new "aeroplane seatbelt" style belt, and sport expensive Converse all stars or Macbeth shoes. Emo kids enjoy a narrow range of musical tastes, consisting exclusively of bands you have never heard of.

Emo girls pretty much look like emo guys, and mostly date emo guys.

My girls an emo girl, except she dyed her hair red-brown cause she didnt like her "poo-brown" natural hair colour. She wears those boxy looking glasses. Heres the difference though:

All those clothes you talk about, she wears them, but she makes them herself.

Ironically its her fashion and her eating habits that she is the most hung up about. Shes a vegetarian and does yoga, dresses like a millionaire just to go to the movies, but in a non-slutty way. She wears either skirts or those jeans that are preworn out and they are cut along the sides to they show off her ankles when she walks. ANd always with the high heels...

Ah! So that's how it's spelled

But... how am I pre-judging people with ouiji boards? Anyway, they never used a board at school... they would just waste hours following an inverted bottletop in circles :crazyeye:

So back to the purpose of this post... what are ouji boards if they aren't satanism-related?

Two reasons a Ouji boards isn't satanic.

One of those two is more official which is that through one's subconcious they can pull out answers to things they are having trouble making concious (for example, finding a lost object).

The other is channeling spiritual/psychic energies. Since I believe in God and know that psychic things are real, I know this to be true. For me, I alwayspray to God, forthe highest and best of spiritual energies, and such to get the best most honest and good answers. I usually find simple answers that say only good things (about love and such). If one chooses to indulge in bad and evil then yes it can be used for satanism. the "game" is a tool for one's own self, not an entity of itself.

Huh? How does a millionaire dress? :hmm:

The millionaires (Currency: British Pound Stirling) I know, and I do know several, do not dress in anything special.

It's generally boring jeans, Reabok trainers... well, you get the picture... just average stuff.

Sure, they have nice things, but they just do not try to stick out from the public. I have eaten with some seriously big names, and not one of those which I know does that "glamour" thing you see on television ... not for daily stuff (i.e. meeting me) anyway.

I cannot comment about how they dress for special events, or important people, as I'm never invited

Edit: And some details: In the biggest group of these people that I ever found myself, one of them* actually brought with him a plastic flask with some drink in it (Irish coffee or something), which we drank in the rain of all places!!

These people are maybe weird, but unless it's some special act to make me feel better, they ain't into any out-of-reach fashion ;)

* Or just a friend - I don't remember who he was.

I also believe in God, so we can agree on some things here. I believe that praying to God is spiritual, and loving someone is spiritual.

However, I think that contacting spirits is a big no-no in the Christian beliefs. The Ouji board is (intended) for contacting spirits right? Well, then how can that not conflict with what is Christian?
