It's not the same, at all. It really, really isn't. There is a history of racial inferiority claims towards blacks, basically implying they are closer to monkeys than the rest of humanity. Normally I am all for the whole idea of if it is okay for one instance, it's okay for others, but this really just doesn't fit that. The subtle (or not so subtle I guess) implication behind it when used towards blacks just isn't there when used towards Georgie or some other white guy.

That DePass guy knows this and knew exactly what he was saying.

Anyway, those taboos are self-defeating in my opinion. It is rather dumb to think black people look more like chimps than whites, and also dumb to think this is a 'thing' to rally against in the crudest humor used (anyway even that politician was alluding to Michelle's ape-related quote about "descending from apes", itself false given that Darwin argued about a common ancestor and not humans being descended from other species around as that now as well).

Actually I think there is, in some East Asian countries. Westerners tend to be much less familiar with that though.
