Dumb and Stupid Quotes Thread: Idiotic Source and Context are Key.

"Of course. When you have a servant's heart, when you know there is opportunity to do all you can to put yourself forward in the name of offering service, anybody would be interested."

Sarah Palin, asked if she is interested in running for president in 2016

Still looks better than Hillary. :)

(hi Phrossack :wavey: ).

That's hardly dumb. They change policy according to personal diplomacy between leaders, not just because someone's had a general election somewhere.

I'd wager it's harder to separate 'changing policies according to to Mr. Cameron's genuine feelings and intelligent judgements about what's best for Britain and Europe' and 'changing policies according to Mr. Cameron's genuine feelings and intelligent judgements about what's best for winning the next election' than one might hope.

Unfortunately, that's a different issue. :(

Lots to choose from, in the case of our following contestant, but let's go with this one at this time:

To be fair, if I'd spent the vast majority of my life in a job that meant I had to be perpetually polite to strangers I didn't particularly like, I'd probably end up throwing in the odd Philip-ism as well.

I don't think the virus comment is particularly dumb or stupid. Yes, it's somewhat tasteless, but it is morbidly amusing.

"I'm no theologian, but ..." <insert wishful thinking about what major religious figure would do, even if it's wildly contrary to documented behaviour>

I thought Jeebus was all about doing good to your enemies. Not offing them with a sniper rifle.

But then, of course, I'm no theologian, either.

But then, of course, I'm no theologian, either.

You are definitely an unwitting theologian. I have never met anyone who is more knowledgable about god than you are!

Really? I mean, thanks; but that's very curious you think so. (Assuming you mean what you say. And you're haven't given me the impression of a person who generally doesn't.)

I have spent (or wasted) a lot of time thinking, in my own fashion, about the issue. But I've yet to come to any firm decision about even whether God exists or not.

Implying that any true knowledge about God can be gained.

I, however, second the fact that Borachio is very wise.
