Dumb and Stupid Quotes Thread: Idiotic Source and Context are Key.

Hey, are you guys talking about the vote a few years ago or something? I was kinda shocked reading about a new vote as I hadn't heard anything, and I cannot find anything in the news...

Let's pick sides and line up

Is this like all those times on the soccer pitch with people picking their sides? And me left till last after even the nerdiest, fattest kids had been picked?

Which I found really strange. What with me being an athletic Adonis in every way (think Brad Pitt in Troy and you won't be far wrong, well, I confess it, maybe I was a little bit more athletic than Brad - he was clearly running to seed in that film). I still am, btw, though maybe not quite as spry these days.

"Is apparently the new commander of the Democrats' war on women nurses. Because, goodnight, they set them up, and then they throw them under the bus."

Rep. Louie Gohmert on CDC head Thomas Frieden

"His affinities, his affiliations are with them. Not us. That's what people seem unwilling to accept. He's their leader...We don't have a president."

Fox News commentator Keith Ablow on why Obama won't ban flights from Africa

^I think he should ban flights from places in Africa that have large numbers of ebola-infected people and/or very little ability to test for infection.
I doubt Obama cares about Africa, though. I doubt that any of the current greater leaders care much about any other people outside their own nice clique.

There are no direct flights from those places in Africa and the US. Everyone takes connecting flights through Europe already.

"Before Obamacare, there had never been a confirmed case of Ebola in the U.S."

Nick Muzin, Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz

That seems like a pretty bad joke but...I don't think anyone would seriously believe that. I mean Steve Tisch, the New York Giants co-owner, made a pretty bad joke about the Cowboys getting ebola and there's been some other bad jokes.

I'm amazed there hasn't been any Todd Akin tier stuff this cycle, Republicans must have actually nominated some pretty gaffe-proof candidates(this does not make them GOOD candidates, obviously) if this is what we're reaching for around here.

Well, at the higher tier of political candidates, 2012-13 was really banner years for foot in mouth disease. So many of the people in that group may learned a bit of discretion. :dunno: But it has clearly not filtered down to the more rank and file of political operatives.

It is true.

It's also true with regards to the birth of the GOP and the discovery of viruses. And the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Before Obamacare, Half-Life 2 was released!

After Obamacare, no further progress was ever made on Half-Life 3 (also cure for cancer).

Or to put it more succinctly, correlation does not imply causation.

Though there's a lot of people who want you to think that it does.
Well... I fell off the top of the Empire State Building. I died.

This all is "Brought to You by CFC" - worthy.

But the US does have a problem with its public health infrastructure.... And that started way before ACA.

Your post has a problem with large amounts of white space. :p
