One of my favorites quotes from Dune Movie:

Princess Irulan:
The beginning is a very delicate time. Know then that it is the year 10191. The Known Universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, my father. In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4,000 years, use the orange spice gas, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of universe without moving.
Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you — the spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe. A desolate, dry planet with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Fremen, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah who would lead them to true freedom. The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune.

A member of the Spacing Guild, from a special report within the Guild:
Send a third stage Guild Navigator to Kaitan to demand details from the Emperor. The spice must flow...

I played both Dune games (old one) and Dune 2000, also I watched movie and played Dune Wars mod for Civ4 (very good mod by the way). I really like everything what is related to dune, also quotes and music which contains quotes from movie. (I had some tracks). But I had no chance or time or both, to read any Dune books of Frank Herbert so big shame on me (  ) , as he wrote many books about Dune, and all is just based on them.

I have read the whole saga, watched the movie and played Dune 2000 and Dune 2 (I forgot to choose this last one in the poll). BTW, join DuneFanatics. And if you had read the books, I'm pretty sure you'd never end quoting them.

Maybe soon :D But explain it bit more ;)

my favorite quote is

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
-Paul Atreides

read the first 2-3 books and saw the movie, that's it though

Yay! Dune!
I've seen all of the movies, disliked the Lynch version, read all of the prequels, and have gotten halfway through Heretics. I haven't played any of the games.

Ya hya chouhada Muad'Dib!
(Long live the warriors of the Prophet!)

EDIT: Wait, you mean you haven't read the books yet!:stunned:

Dune 2 was my first contact with Dune. Then I saw the movie, read some of the books(both some of the original ones and some of the prequels). I've also played Dune 1, Dune 2000(big disapointment) and Emperor battle for Dune. I've not seen the miniseries, but I'm looking forward to it.

The Dune movie was an abomination. I loved Frank Herbert's Dune series and I read the Kevin Anderson books out of love for the series until Sandworms of Dune which was epically bad. I never played any of the Dune games but I wish I had.

Explain? Here's everything I've to explain:

LITERARY PERFECTION. PERIOD.

I've voted Dune 2000 thinking it was Emperor Battle for Dune. Aren't they the same?

I love Dune. I've read most of the books, played most of the games, saw the movie and the miniseries several times. I pee in my stillsuit and drink it later, like any TRUE Dune fan.

FanaticNoob, if nothing else, just read the very first Dune book, the novel that started it all. It's glorious. Hell, I will ship you a copy if you can't get it any other way.

Dune was one of the books that I was recommended I should start read, along with the Lord of the Rings.

The copy of Dune I got is a trilogy edition that includes Dune, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. I liked the first one but found the other two a bit slow. After reading I can now spot when films rip it off.

I've voted Dune 2000 thinking it was Emperor Battle for Dune. Aren't they the same?
Dune 2000 is a remake of Dune 2 released in 1998, while Emperor Battle for Dune is the sequel.

Thanks for the info. You see, when you want you can create positive energy.

It is not same, I forgot that they did Emperor, or I never heard about it or just little. I played only Dune 2000 thus.

I will try to make it on my own if I will not forget but I should not, but also thanks for offering help ;)

Yeah, Emperor was a very good game. And I love how they have kept the same costumes from the David lynch movies. But when it comes to the sardaukar, I think that Dune 2 had the best depiction

They're just so cool.

And please, don't paint all that red stuff on the mentat's lips. I know it's all according to the book, but please just let them keep their dignity.

Thanks. Hope that will not stop people to discus, I had no idea that other sub forum match better.

Also back to topic, I must really try this Emperor Dune game someday, and MUST read the books.

No problem - I'd have moved the thread myself if I had seen it earlier.

It's great to see more Dune fans come forward! :goodjob:

And please - everybody who hasn't read the original Dune by Frank Herbert - go out and get a copy. You can find them at libraries, second-hand bookstores, garage sales, Amazon, and lots of other places. I daresay you can even find them in Poland, as I know of a few other Polish Dune fans (unless you're one of them by another name...? :hmm:)

No I do not think so I hide under other name as Dune fan ;) I will try to look after Dune books for sure.
