DwarfNES: Into the..ground?

I would like to sign up, perhaps as a warrior? I can help the dogs fight off the tougher goats and eagles. ;)

It will be a while until the immigrants come. I am hoping to get 15 or more immigrants. The ones who aren't taken by players will be used as the military and thrown at the goats in epic combat.

trying a game myself.. very confused currently!

While I plow on through trying to reach the immigration date. *currently summer of the first year* I am taking screenshots of my expansions. Not much.

Below is the freshly excavated dining hall. It is round in shape and will be the area for many a dinner and meeting to come.

We are building rock mechanism for more defensive traps and have planted some pig tails to mix up from the constant mushrooms.

My name is Iggy Èrithzareth. I was born somewhere in the Highland Mountainhomes of Tileshnil, though I've seldom had a consistent home since then.

I'm a miner, like my old dwarf, and his old dwarf, as far back as I can think. Good, simple honest work. Pickaxes and Hammers. Nice and simple. Not the crazy things you see some dwarves getting into sometimes.

I just joined up with this caravan as a job. Noth'n more than that. The others ended up choosing me to 'lead'. To this day I'm not exactly sure how I ended up as leader of this group. And an interesting little group it was.

Jeps Èrithbokbon was an interesting fellow. He was raised a miner just like I was, though he obsessed over the gems, treasures, and riches over the earth. Me, I'm a plain old metal dwarf. Give me a ferrous vein any day.

'Shadowbound' (he never told us his real name) Kolmonom was a carpenter. Need I say more? Say what you want, but wood's just not a dwarf's element. I've always thought that people who deal with the stuff are a bit... off, you know?

Nice enough fellow, though half the time you expected to see him dancing along with a bloody cohort of elves or something.

Kal'Thzar Mosuskezat... ah, a good dwarf. He wasn't a miner, but he's great with everything the earth has to offer. He even fixed up my pickaxe when one of those damned bulls bent it out of shape. Frankly, I'm surprised that Kal didn't end up as leader... guess that some o' the others had some issues with him. I don't know, I'm not the type to dig to deeply into things like that- if you can pardon the pun.

Joakim Rimtaradil works with animals. I've never liked critters with more than two legs, especially if they're bigger than me. He's almost as much of a nutter as that Shadowbound character- though at least Joakim tells us his name. Oh well. Better him working with the critters than me.

Ah yeah, and 'Human Slaughter' Akrelrigòth. A damned odd dwarf if I ever met one- and in this group, trust me, I did. He just called himself 'human slaughter' all the time, even though he was a fisher (I can't stand water). 'Pike Slaughter', or 'Bass Slaughter'... at any rate, I didn't feel like delving too deeply into his past- damn! That pun again!

At any rate, he's no problem now. He got beaten up by some goats, after trying to fight them off with a lizard. Why the others wanted statues made of him remains beyond me.

Demetrias Akrulsalul is an alright fellow. Makes some fine ales, I'll say, though his cooking could use some work. He's a quiet dwarf, which suits me just fine. Though when 'e talks, he has the oddest accent. I might ask him where the hell he's from someday.

I'll also have to ask him why the heck he brought back 'Human Slaughter' after the goats took him away too.

'Sibreklerom' was the name we decided on when we arrived at the site. It wasn't much of a site, actually, just the side of a mountain with a brook. I couldn't wait to dig into that pristine earth for the first time.

Time for some good, ol' fashioned work!

Can I join too? Lookas fun and not that hard. :)

EDIT: If I can Ill take Weaponsmith/Macedwarf

I am a Lumberjack! I hit tall things with axes, until they fall down. In several pieces. How is that not dwarfy?

I will have spaces opening up when the immigrants come. I have no way of knowing the exact number so spaces may be limited.

@Iggy: Nice story.

Four images of the draining of a pond. The last one has a red f in it. That is a wild fox. I hope to capture it and make a fox fur hat.

Jeps is smoothing the stone walls and floors in the living quarters while Iggy, top left, just setup the first part of a long table for the dining hall.

dfnes19mc3.png

This former pond has now been drained almost completely. A little bit of water on the floor but nothing to drown in. This room is walled off with fortified walls and will become the upper floor of Iggy's mayor house. I will be build rock floors and probably expand it a bit and rebuild the walls with rock. A level up was the top o the pond. It is being covered with a stone roof to keep the light and weather out. In one of the other ponds there was a large school of salmon but they left so next time we will trap them in the pond so they can't go into the river and possibly put one in an aquarium.

Jeps the miner is using our new tables as a dance platform. He thought he was alone until Demetrias came in, looked at him, and ran away.

Winter Checkup:

We have 5 Cow Calves, 3 Puppies and 2 Kittens. These are new freshly born in the autumn.

The bedrooms. Currently digging new rooms for the immigrants to come. We struck the cyan rock type known as Microline. Iggy has become fond of it and requested his entire new house be floored with the ice colored stone.

Some of the status things. Until Iggy starts record keeping precisely we will not know what we have exactly.

Migrants Arrive: Spring 1052

The elven caravan came. We traded the useless aluminum puzzleboxes for most of what they offered. Including some new weapons, drugs, and exotic animals in cages.

dfnes28bo2.png

Because Kal wanted them. Here are his skills.

dfnes29mc9.png

In the bottom right are three cages with the letters L, w and E. A tame leopard, wolf and elk. We will have a zoo eventually.

dfnes31pe2.png

The list of migrants! The ones without a NESer name in front of them. Which includes child-slaughter, the hunter son of human-slaughter. So pick what is left if you want in.

dfnes32iw1.png

And finally the stats of the fortress. We now have 20 dwarfs. Enough for a sheriff. Who wants to be the sheriff?

dfnes33am0.png

iggy is already the mayor

I can be the sheriff if you dont mind.

I will pick the bonecutter dwarf to be my character.
