There are two ways of interpreting The Donald's comments:

(a) he is a fascist and if elected will abolish voting

(b) he knows that this is the last time they can vote for him and,
being a narcissist considers this only in terms of them voting for him,
and he omits to include the "for me" because he considers it obvious.

I read it as “a second Trump administration will deliver your desired policies to your constituency to such a degree of satisfaction they will no longer be issues in future elections.”

I absolutely did not read it as “fascist tyrant threatens to overturn democratic rule.”

History suggests this reading is optimistic at best, and in complete denial of available facts in his first term quite honestly.

I agree The Donald is sounding desperate.

His line that one should not vote for sleepy Joe because he is too old is boomeranging straight back to hit him in the face as he is now the oldie.

And by the way, the Farage and the UK Labour government's ass-licking of Donald' acolytes as if he is a shoe-in cert may rebound on them if Kamala is elected.

And a good vice-president pick, and she has several good options, could result in the Democrats surging ahead.

I did. There are a great many ways to disinfranchise most of the voters without openly declaring voting dead. And so restrict the vote to mostly those who can be counted on to vote the "right" way.

In a groundbreaking speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, former President Donald Trump outlines his vision for a crypto-friendly America. Trump promises to end the current administration's "anti-crypto crusade" and positions himself as the first major party nominee to accept Bitcoin donations. He pledges to fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, create a Presidential Crypto Advisory Council, and keep all government-held Bitcoin.Trump's address covers a wide range of topics, from energy policy to inflation, connecting them all to the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in America. He vows to make the U.S. the "crypto capital of the planet" and a "Bitcoin superpower", promising regulatory clarity and economic prosperity for the industry.

The Germans once thought as you do.

Trump and his lawyers attempted to overrule the election result of the 2019 election via +60 lawsuits. He still hasn't accepted defeat.

It's his objective to cling to the Presidency if granted, for the rest of his life. Only way to uphold his immunity from the legal system.

... because voting is a deep state woke leftist conspiracy (right?). Haha.

Voting, as opposed to Monarchy, is the vanilla meaning of left.

The Germans were also in the midst of an economic crisis, they already basically had a dictatorship, and they were pumped up on revanchism for the “November criminals.”

It’s just totally silly in my opinion to compare one historical circumstance to another while ignoring all of the important parts. There was an attempted revolution in Russia after the defeat against Japan—are we at risk of a communist revolution in the USA because the Taliban won in Afghanistan?

It's rather how a populist chancer is about to gut the US democracy of real meaning.

Berlusconi is one model for this – lots of similarities with Trump. Orban is an even better model for how to actually get it done.

The only question is if Trump has the stamina and determination (brains, even) to do it himself. He didn't during his first term. This time around however he is surrounded by people who want to get precisely this done, and they can almost touch the opportunity now.

But lying with headlines is what we do?

We are the media majority and the kindest most specialist and smartest on all the issues.

Trump holding pretty steady at +2.

Narrative continues to be Harris making gains. Most polls don't indicate her making dents after the elevation to the top of the ticket, though.

The DonOLD nickname appears to be catching on in the Reddit echo chambers, as well as the "Trump is weird" attack line. More than usual.

I dunno though. I'm beginning to think more people have bought into the identity Trump's been selling over the past 4 years.

Trump will win the election. I do not have the slightest doubt abut that. Do not confuse a propaganda barrage (what you read or listen in the media) with any real shift in the mood of the voters. That media has been losing its ability to shift anything. Plus that woman has plenty of time to show herself until the election, and no excuse to hide in a basement.

Your knowledge of German history is for lack of a better term out of date as odd as that sounds. Germany was actually doing much better then many other countries at the time not nearly in the economic dire state it was presented as in older history textbooks. On top of that they were by far the most liberal country in the entire world in the 20s until the Nazis fully came to power. Claiming they had a dictatorship already is just baffling, in many ways interwar Germans had more freedoms that most other westerners wouldn't see for decades later. The reason they came to power was a center-right majority in their parliament allied themselves with them in order to stop the slow but stead gaining tides of socialist parties. Hey that sounds awfully familiar...
