CNN interview amounted to an infomercial for the radical left-wing candidates.

It's kind of interesting that the whole of government and all of our elite institutions are lined up behind this Democrat effort and that Trump has only himself and the ordinary people. The stakes in the election are extraordinary, if the Democrats run the table taking both houses and the White House with the most socialist minded ticket in our history, the result would essentially be the end of the Republic as we know it. It would be an event like unto the historic earthquakes in Russia, first when the Bolsheviks deposed the Czar and later when the Soviet Union fell.

I am not saying that the world will actually change the calendar, BC/AC (before calamity/after calamity) but future historians will certainly refer to 2024 as the end of one period in world history and the beginning of another. It will mark the end of the Pax Americana and the beginning of the new, darker, ages to come.

The voters, in voting to renounce every value upon which our Republic was founded and sustained upon, will only discover their blunder in stages, and many other claims will be made to lay the blame at other doors. But such a dread event will divide the time as starkly as the red ribbon divides the scriptures when we open our Bible.

Lmao, right-wingers making Harris/Walz sound awesome

I miss Bush era Republicans.

Who remembers when he dodged the shoe? It was the high point of his presidency. He laughed at the shoe tosser after the first miss, and then dodged the second. Fantastic.

Great media cycle, too. Loved the explainers. We needed to be informed that the throwing of shoes is particularly contemptuous in Arabic cultures, as if shoes are thrown at people without contempt anywhere in the world.

He got 9 months in prison for that. :cowboy:

Simultaneously, they're accusing the Democrats of having an extremist ticket that will break everything because in truth, they're the ones with the extremist ticket that will break everything

Endless projection has been Trump's pattern for years.

It seems Trump's latest stunt has pissed off the US Army enough to publicly rebuke him. As far as I can tell this is unprecedented, the various military branches are very careful to stay non-partisan after all it's probable one will be your boss soon. I haven't bothered to see the details of what the dumbass did in Arlington but add another to the pile of important groups he's actively antagonized that sadly won't matter.

Unfortunately I think he's played this episode in such a way that a lot of enlisted people are gonna think "the deep state that controls the army is out to get Trump", a lot of enlisted dudes want nothing more than for Trump to do a photo-op on their graves...

Yeah, I mean, these people would've been spitting rivets if Obama had done 1/100th of this, but Trump is their daddy, they love him way more than they love military regulations. I mean, they love him for pardoning Eddie Gallagher, who is a psychopathic murderer.

He played it in such a way that anyone but Donald Trump and his mother are all part of the Deep State, the Elite too ;)
I don't know. His mother was a filthy Scottish immigrant that raised a child who has a tendency to marry filthy immigrants. Those are the types that the Deep State recruit.

Donald Trump's brilliance:

“It must be remembered that the Democrats are the radical ones on this position because they support abortion up to and even beyond the ninth month. The concept of having an abortion in the later months and even execution after birth. And that’s exactly what it is. The baby is born, the baby is executed after birth is unacceptable. And almost everyone agrees with that.”Donald Trump

I welcome this new age. All hail the Dark Lord!

Of all the insanity in that nonsense... the craziest part is where he says "almost" everyone agrees :dubious: ... as if there was someone who would disagree that newborns should not be executed right after birth :crazyeye:

Thinking about it... what makes the phrasing even stranger, particularly coming from him, is that in so many of his statements, he never hesitates to lie, exaggerate, hyperbolize, make wild generalizations, blanket smears, etc., but for some reason here, he is inscrutably adding a qualifier, as if he is worried about being fact checked, or called out for making a sweeping generalization :shake:... "almost everyone" Really? That's what you hedge on?

He really just speaks stream of consciousness... just an endless stream of verbal diarrhea.

Surely his argument is that the democrats would disagree with that, that is why they are supporting this fantasy position.

What happened with Bush and Bowman is that their anti-Israel stands led pro-Israel groups to spend massive amounts of money on their opponents, who then used that money to cut ads accusing Bowman and Bush essentially of not being good Democrats, not supporting Biden's domestic agenda enough. The campaigns did not focus on Israel exactly because the strategists understand that Israel's war is not a winning issue among Democratic primary voters.
All of this is correct of course, but the fact remains that their anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian stances led to their losses. So for Politicians to publicly take an anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian stance, they have to be willing to do so at the risk of losing, when all the stuff you outlined above inevitably happens. It seems like most politicians aren't willing to take that risk.

As an aside, I've been thinking a lot about this issue and I don't think that folks who are reluctant or refusing to vote for Harris over the invasion of Gaza and US-Israel policy should feel like they have to change their position for the sake of defeating Trump. Even putting aside the considerable moral and human-rights issues involved, Harris has had a pretty smooth go of it since Biden dropped out, all things considered. She got to essentially skip the campaign and then was immediately embraced by the party and a plurality of Americans.

Campaigns are tough and she's campaigning for President of the United States... its not supposed to be easy. It's supposed to be complicated and you're supposed to have to earn people's votes. I don't know how she can win folks over and I don't have to know, because I'm not running, she is. Juggling complex issues is part of being POTUS, so she can either do it or she can't. She can either convince the voters or she can't. I hope she can, but all I have is hope, which is a lot more than some of the people whose families are dying in Gaza have.
I will point out there is no reason the Democrats cannot adopt rules for their primaries that preclude massive amounts of outside spending.
There is a reason. They probably are making the calculation that they can't afford to do that because the Republicans aren't going to do that. So I'm guessing they're worried disallowing massive slushery would place them at a disadvantage versus Republicans. It's not just their Democratic primary opponents who will be running attack ads on them, its their Republican opponents as well.

Just to try to get your point, the problem would be that Republicans would spend primary money to denigrate democrats they do not want to run against because they would be popular? Or just generally against democrats so they do worse in the general?
