The 'skip forward' voyage will last up to four years.
 I bet the cruise company is just trying to pick up some non-refundable deposits and application fees from people who are upset now.

Besides, do you want to be on an undefended cruise ship, huddled around with the president’s opposition, when he gets feeling a little snippy working the missile command console at his desk?

Cost? I'm guessing half million dollars (Valka might have a better guess I know nothing about cruises)

Indeed and why shouldn't it?
*shrugs*

The whole Dem brand is hurt. Policy, Harris won, blind tests demonstrate wide preferences for her. Issues she ran on had majority support in many states(abortion, minimum wage).

It's retrospectively pretty obvious to me that Dem attitudes greatly damaged trust amongst men particularly, to the extent that it seems to be defining their political identity. It's bigger than a Harris problem. She didn't run that campaign. It's a brand problem.

Do you think AOC is going to be successfully branded as "establishment" over the next 4 years?

It'll only take about four weeks of programming, you'll see. All the "free thinkers" will start talking (all at around the same time) about how she grew up in a house, and isn't really from a working-class background because, implicitly, only white men can be "workers" and how she is a "Democrat insider" who insisted that Joe Biden had to be the nominee even as his lifeless corpse collapsed into a pile of dust on live tv.

Yes, but as I consistently predicted, this was not possible or a remotely reasonable expectation. You can of course imagine the sheer gargantuan magnitude of ego a person would have to posses to even run for POTUS in the first place. The things that spring to mind are Godzilla, the Empire State Building, The Grand Canyon (as in the crater in their soul that needs to be filled with adoration and power) ... to be the avatar of the Statue of Liberty herself, the modern day Colossus of Rhodes... Biden saw the one ring Presidency as his lifetime achievement award... all those days and nights back and forth on the train from Delaware finally coming to fruition and paying off... a lifetime of public service earning him the ultimate "brass ring"... I am still in disbelief that he gave it up. I thought that there was no way he would. I speculate that less than 1% of people on this planet would have given up the Presidency in his shoes, even after the disastrous debate performance. Can you imagine Trump giving up his campaign after a poor debate?

God only knows what Nancy Pelosi might have threatened him with (she said she will take their conversation to the grave, so I expect Bob Woodward to publish a book that will detail the whole thing in the next eight months). But the 1% number is meaningless as probably less than 1% of people would want to be President in the first place. I would buy that fewer than 1% of those people would give it up. But Biden didn't exactly 'give it up'; the circumstantial evidence certainly indicates that he was forced out.

real actual question, does anyone have any idea how to - - so uh. the right has a massive chokehold on lower class media right now. so, what do? new york times articles dropping a list of percentages obviously ain't working.

The image that description conjures is pure comedy gold. Bravo! Sir!
Here is the first post, where I made the comparison, complete with gif/meme:

Once Biden actually withdrew... I made the connection to Pelosi:

That's all fine and dandy until we have another Trump pandemic... then you're trapped for weeks on a nightmare COVID-cruise... just like what happened to folks during the last pandemic.

Who is ultimately is in charge that people will turn to help from, if they're on that cruise ship and happen to need help?

Have your loosely affiliated billionaires set up their own media operations. It's the available blueprint.

Don't think it'd work, but it is the only presently available model. Arguably, this has been done already, but the insurgent campaign led from right wing sectors just... won, via preference of the people.

Obviously no one would willingly spend four years in that ship.
Indeed if there is no refund policy, they may just be fishing for rich idiots.
Would it even be legal? I mean if it is (as evident) just a scam.

That is a good question, and it is probably the captain, esp. as they are usually registered with flags of convenience.

There are services, but I expect most people cannot afford them.

And for things the captain can't fix, this is in international waters?

I dunno...God?

I guess probably the Navy/Coast Guard of whatever the closest friendly and capable country is... so if they're cruising the Carribean, that would be Donald Trump's Navy... which I gather/guess is your point?

If it's the Villa Vie Odyssey, they have medical staff on board and except for trans-ocean crossing, are fairly close to shore and in port more than they are not. They just started out and set sail in October.

The cruise-ship in the image doesn't look particularly flashy.

I once spent more than a day on a large cruise-ship. It was quite boring. Ended up making calculations about coin machines, with some success (I was 15, going from Stockholm to Helsinki).

We are talking about the Villa Vie Odyssey, flagged with Bahamas? That means on the high seas they would be the ones to go to with "things the captain cannot handle".

I'm watching the concept and hope that someone can come along and do it better - somewhere between what they are doing and what the World is doing. The political marketing gimmick isn't helping Villa Vie's reputation. Even I don't want to be stuck on a boat with a bunch of people sharing one political outlook.
