Emperor SG?

Kibitzers Comment:
Never really tried NOW, but it would seem you could DOW Summeria at anytime, prior to their turn. What I am not sure about, is can you make peace with anyone at anytime as long as they are not at the the top of the list?

That seems to be the case; there is nothing against that in Arathorn's description of NOW.

lurker's comment: I've only played one NOW (Gma02), but my understanding was that only 1 civ at a time is the Target Civ. You must declare on the Target Civ when they come up on the list. Prior to that, you can DOW them, make peace, trade, DOW them again, make peace again, etc. Once they become the Target Civ, all bets are off, and it's no peace with them again.

Edit: That's assuming I remember correctly, which may be a stretch.

Sorry, guys. My helping hand in the GR29 AW game took my time. Please skip me and I will play my set of turns during next week.

Or if you guys want to wait I will start playing probably on Monday.

Yeah, I can barely handle my current schedule, but Sparthage has no internet access until whatever the date is in his sig, so we won't be seeing him for a while. Anyhow, I technically am a full time player until then.

Had a look at the save and my idea would be to make peace with India. They pay 25 for it. We should continue war with Russia until we get Currency from them for peace. Two enemies are a little bit much for us at two front lines. We should build a city at the choke between us and Russia and then concentrate on the other front (India, Sumeria).

Comments? Other ideas?

We can make peace with India when they hand over the 1 tile island city, that may be our only hope of winning within the rules. Russia will make peace, so get what you can there. Then we can pound India until they hand over the 1 tile island city for peace. Meanwhile, build some boats to track down the Greeks and kill them. Do not DOW Sumeria, we have no jungle between them and us, and at this time, they can and will kill us.

Maybe I should make my concerns clearer by a picture:

BTW, this is before I played anything!

There are three Indian sword threatening Sparta, which has two swords as defense (one of them hurt). If we lose that town, we will lose 1. Our chance to get the third army soon 2. Our dyes and 3. When we can't build the army, we will not get more MGLs.

I urgently propose to make peace with India. I am not even sure that we are alking about a one tile island, where India is on.

Other voices?

If we make peace with India now, we will likely lose our trade rep when we have to redeclare, and there may never be another chance for getting the 1-tile island within the rules. We break the rules and the game might as well be abandoned. OTOH, if India can wipe us out by taking that city, then make the peace. Either way, we are screwed. In an ordinary game, I'd say make the peace treaty. In this game, my thoughts are to move the MGL to safety, make peace with Russia, bring the army in old Greece back to retake Sparta and the other army down from Russia to help out. We need peace with India, but only for the island city. Otherwise, we mangle the rules to the point that they mean nothing. Team decision needed here. I say let the chips fall and fight India until they give us the island while we get 2-3 galleys with enough troops to finish Greeces island. If it looks like we can't win within the rules, maybe we should quit now. On a side note, think of this as a civ challenge, can we win against these odds and do it within the rules?

I say push space, hope for the best, and report back.

Wait! It is possible that those swords are going for the workers north of Sparta. :D There might be hope after all.

lurker's comment: Is there anything in the stack next to Athens that one or two of the swordsman would prefer to go after?

Comments for next player:

- The settler in the west was heading towards the irrigated tile NW of his current position
- Not sure whether we should make peace with India now. Bombay has horses nearby, but may be difficult to hold due to culture pressure by Sumeria. We definately would get the island city (Jaipur) from them and I recognized that there is a purple border in the south (tundra)
- If we get another MGL anytime soon, I would definatey use him for The Pentagon.
- Our next opponent should be Sumeria

You did very well despite the bad situation I left you in. Lets make peace with India, get built up and knock Greece off so we can redeclare.
