I was looking at the steam page for GaK, and it said there was exactly 1 week and 15 hours left. Doing the math, that means that it will come out at 12:00 noon, not 12:00 midnight. Is that a mistake or is it actually coming out at noon?

yeah you're about right yay i can sleep in but its going to be hard to pass the time (I'm playing sick) So I might be the first one in edmonton to play for all I know. But to eveyone who can't pass the time here's a song

For some reason it stops at 2 seconds so start at 3 seconds.

Llamas are awesome. If CiV had Llamas in 1 out of every 10 maps, it would make then game a bajillion times more awesome than it is.

edit: Llama Archers

It's probably coming out at ~midnight. If not, I'm sure you'll be able to wait another 12 hours...

I won't get back to Edmonton from my roadtrip until the day after it releases, so thankfully it's not an issue for me :D

While we're on the topic of time and the unlocking of things...The North American release date is the 19th. And the game unlocks at either noon or midnight. Okay, that's great. But NA is...kinda a big place. Y'know, with multiple time zones. So would someone in San Francisco really get the game 3 hours later than someone in New York?

no... there's things called 'time zones'.

the game will release at 10am PST. So modify that by where you are and that'll be the time for you.

That was...actually my entire point. I hadn't seen anywhere that said which time zone they were using to unlock the game. Where did you find10am PST? Or did you just do the math from steam?

I remember Fall of the Samurai was released a day early on March 22, 2012, at 12pm CST. Which is 10 am PST. I remember, I was not expecting it until the next day and I came home and looked at steam it was already downloading. There was an overflow of traffic on steam and it took a bit of time to get it downloaded. A couple of hours at least. At least, I did not have to worry about it getting lost in the mail. Which happened to quite a few people. One of my friends in Northern England did not get his copy for three weeks. Even though he preordered first class shipping from amazon.

I have a feeling with Gods and Kings it will be far worse, we'll see. At least there will be an overload of traffic on steam that day. Some advice, if you want the disc buy it later, just in case.

Well I just checked Steam, and apparently the game is unlocking at 5 AM on the 23rd for me.

Its weird I just went to steam and looked at my games list. Gods and King was there a couple of days ago, now it is gone. I went to the store, it says I purchased it. I am not sure what is going on. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have preordered G&K but I live in Europe.
Can I still play the game on 19th or does it activate only on 22nd day?

And if so can I edit my Steam location to be in Nashville USA or something to trick it.. :)

Moderator Action: No. Please do not discuss how to circumvent Steam restrictions.

it uses the same startup icon as civ 5 vanilla. which worries me because i fear non exspansion dudes wil be able to join my exspansion games. I do hope they have separate lobbies for exspansions and vanilla games. so that when you activate the exspansion none without it can join.
2. I seriously doubt they can be tricked as you are registered by what you register when you first set up your steam account.

Ditto.

You will find it under the DLC tab in the Properties menu.

For Civ vanilla they'd divided the world up in three massive 'time zones'. Something like Asia, Europe and America. And it would unlock at midnight for each respective 'time zone'. See this topic for those unlock times.
I don't know if they're planning on doing that now.

Altough most games on Steam unlock at midnight Seattle time, which is 19 o'clock CET, if I'm correct.
And by the looks of the countdown clock it'd be about the same with G&K (approx 10 hours from now (and a few weeks/days of course))

For Europe the release date is 22nd.

There are tricks possible, but I'm afraid it's not allowed to discuss them here.

Valve is located on the west coast. They *almost always* release everything at 10 PST.

1900 CET seems to line up with 1000 PST, rather than midnight (which was apparently 45 minutes ago in Seattle).

Which means I guess it'll be available for N.Americans in a week, eight hours, and fifteen minutes?
