Explain why your country is better than the US

The UK is better for two reasons; we are far superior at football (soccer) and are food is better.

David Hasslehof is American, ergo your country is better than yours;) .

You can vote in people with all the eloquence, sophistication and intellect of a slug.

We can choose from more than 2 parties in elections
ancient buildings everywhere (even the farm of my grandmother is probably over 300 years old)
the worlds most famous Coffee house culture (and best coffees apart from Italy)
Decent restaurant quality and quantity and its cheap prizes (really was astonished how expensive normal restaurants are in the US)
I never had to buy a car in my life due to the public transport density
Far lower crime rates
Better health system and more social welfare
Decent beer and a lot of breweries
Much cooler language (I love German because of its ability to stick together nouns infinetly and because you can much more easy build sentence monsters with more than 10 levels of hierarchy)
Austria is the junction of Italian, Bavarian, Bohemian and Hungarian culture

On the downside: we caused (together with Germany) and lost both Worldwars and we pay more taxes here

no country is better than the US, there are some that are equals like the UK, Japan, and Canada, but none are better.

:vomit:

That's all I have to say.

- No republicans. A man like Bush would be considdered a nutter here, and never elected
- Less crime and corruption
- Free healthcare and education
- More responsible stance towards the environment
- Less fat people
- Better social security

A lot of Americans wouldn't see this as a bad thing.

-Abortion.
-Euthanasia.
-Better health care.
-Universities are affordable for all.
-We actually care about the environment.
-No rampant gun violence.
-The police smokes weed together with you.
-We speak Dutch.

Here the religious do not dictate everybody else how to live their lives. If they want to live their lives a certain way, they're free to do so as long as they don't push their morals and values onto others.

What is the main religion of Israel?

Muslim?

:wow:

Cricket > Baseball. Case closed.

Sorry, baseball is better, but only because it has the courtesy to be finished sooner.

Rugby on the other hand is far superior to American football.

You can vote in people with all the eloquence, sophistication and intellect of a slug.

And electing a pompous lying little twit is better? :p

My country is better because it is mine. Without me, it would be nothing.

For general naivete and ignorance, and unpleasant levels of conformity, Americans beat the UK.
For kindness and generosity they also beat the UK.
For politeness and courtesy, I think that standards are very low in both countries in many places, with pockets of politeness here and there.

I'd rather avoid the incredible pressure to conform (in certain ways) that I perceive in America, so the UK is better.

And you can't say what's better in your country by pointing out negatives in the US. Make positive statements about your country.

eek. maybe i should have used :joke: !!

our tv programs are only occasionally interrupted by tv ads :p
we tend not to have major natural disasters, except for the odd conservative govt
we are world champions at elephant polo. again. trust me, you don't see many people practicing that in the streets.

and as our saying goes: wha's like us? no many, and they're all deid! :p

So, nonAmericans, explain why your nation is better than the US.

We don't start a war in every 5 years.
We don't have torturing camps and generally we respect human rights.
We don't support revolutions and dictators in other countries.
We have better democracy: more representatives per capita, 6 parties with real influence (3 with big influence and 3 with less, but influence any how) and the president has less power.
Much less violence (allthough Finland is most violent West European country (read not East European)).
No death punishment.
Practically every adult can read properly, finns are overall better educated.
Media is less biased.
Practically free health care.
Poor people are looked after, low salaries are higher than in USA.
Less guns.

Some of these of course can be considered in many ways, I don't for example think that school did any good to me &c, but I don't go into those considerations (especially since I don't believe that many countries are better in that respect).
