i love your work, its absolutely awsome, the textures... do you make them yourself? (i especially like the roof tiles :D)
and is there an easy way of importing city art into the game? ive tried but keep stuffing it up :(

do you do requests? if so would you have a hand at making a Dark elven city along the lines of this (it would go to a good home i promise :D):

I second this request. I had previously reskinned the southeast asian cityset for this and feel it only looks mediocre:

Me being the hopelessly incopmetent modder i am, can't figure out how to get the city sets to work in game. can someone please post the required XML for the Elvish city set?
 
you have to play around with Civ4CityLSystem.xml. I haven't mastered that file yet myself and screwed up my city walls.

yeah... i tried doing that with the old vanilla version of the arda mod, but i got hopelessly confused and gave up.

Hey, ive made a new city set for woodelves:

but im having a couple of issues:

does anyone know how to get normal trees from civ into the city set, like Hrochland's elf city set? (or can we just blend his and mine when i get it into the game?) the poly count for my trees is just too high ~800!

im also having trouble applying a .dds texture to the modles, it comes up with an "error creating Direct 3D Device" message. Woodelf seems to think its a Vista error. would someone please apply the dds textures? :help:

Your cityset looks really very as faery ;) take my here link for download your cityset and I check what is problem with texture. (or send you download link by privat message, as you want...)

Geomodder and Chamaedrys wrote here some time ago that sityset parts must have a litle polygons and texture must be one for all parts. Observed you this order?
 
yeh, its all on the same texture, and ive tried to keep the polygons low. what sort of count is recomended? ill upload them in a little while. Thanks for the reply ;)

in the file i have put all the individual modles (the individual ones have the correct polygon number because i went back and reduced it in them, but not the one called "all woodelf houses".) i have also put the texture which i made in GIMP, (it is size 1024 x 1024) and also the .dds texture which my 3DS Max does not seem to recognise :confused:

I only short see on it, Psychic_Llamas, have you this as nif file?
I´m working in Blender (no in 3Dmax) but I can see one my cityset component have 10kb and one your 2271kb. It can be problem.
If you have Nif file, link, please Nif.
 
I havent gotten around to doing the nifs yet :blush: i thought you needed the dds texture first :confused: ill do that then get back to you. thanks again :)

EDIT: Ok, ive tried to export the modles as a nif file, but they come up with an error saying

WARNING: Texture "all Woodelf Houses.jpg" is not a commonly supported CivilizationIV type.

Resorting to sampling the Max version of the texture.

im going to try something else....
 
Thanks Hrochland, but it comes up with the error saying "error creating Direct3D Device" when i try to apply the dds. perhaps i should try on a computer without Vista, woodelf said that his vista computer has the same error but his non Vista one is fine.

perhaps if someone with Max on a non-Vista computer could apply the dds for me? otherwise im going to have to try use another compter :(

If I good understand, (my English is bad) you want generate dds
On it you need export for example Bmp texture from Max and fhotoshop.
If you have pic export I can make dds from. No problem, but on internet I will be only one hour now and next in Monday...
 
No. Not work in Max but if I tried it some time ago, I displayed texture, press Printscreen and made dds texture in Photoshop :)
