FfH trivia game thread

Varn does have at least one Brother. His elder brother Haerlond was king of the Elves in the Shadowed Vale.

I was pretty sure that the heartstone was actually stolen by their father (whose name I forget, but I think it also starts with an H. Maybe Kael never actually said and I was confusing him with his son), who lead the rebellion against Latoth but stayed behind to hold off the forces of Laroth so the others could escape. I can't actually find where it specifically says who personally stole the heartstone though, so I guess I'll accept Varn's Brother as being close enough. Haerlond is probably the one who actually took it out of the netherworld anyway, even if is father took it from Laroth.

I dont think I ever said, Arak the Erkling is Varn and Haerlonds father and he is said to be still inside the portal between the netherworld and the shadow rift, keeping Laroth at bay.

The erkling title comes from the dark germanic elven creature, it has no relation to the Harry Potter creature (except the author probably used the same source, i wrote this well before harry potter came out). If anyone thinks its werid that Varn's father was named after an evil elven creature its important to remember that Varn isnt typical of the elves of the shadow rift who are much more svartalfar in nature.

Conflicting with the Arak defender story is the fact that Rathus entered the gate to the netherworld and didn't have any real difficulties or encounter Arak.

what does ten have anything to do with it Kol, but anyways, I'll accept Cernunnos or Sucellus. From the godchecker.com site, Cernunnos is half deer. However I was thinking of more centaur style, like that nature god from WOW.

So, your turn Kol.

What would you find upon the Isle of the Sheol and what would the island be called if you were to transpose that object back into the real world, based on it's appearance?

You would find the Temple of Temporance. That's the easy part. I'll guess that "that object" is Temporance itself and the island would then be called the Creator's throne? Somehow I don't think that's what you're looking for. Would the island be called France?

Would the island be called France?

Very close - definitely on the right lines. There's a specific island within France that is relevant to the artwork.

("That object" is the temple of temporance, the artwork is a real world object that also resides on an island).

Notre Dame? Ille de France?

Good enough. Was going for "Île de la Cité" really, but the square where Notre Dame is situated (on Île de la Cité) is actually called Île-de-France (but not really an island, just a public square) so that's good enough for me.

And yes, when I was there I did look at it and think "+1 Happiness? Cool..." :mischief:

Ille de Paris or Mont Saint-Michel.

Isn't Mont Saint-Michel a little island in the north-coastal area? Famous for supporting Billy the Conquerer?

Ile de Paris would probably have been close enough too though - but Kol7 got it first - of course, he open floored it last time so he may not want a turn still...

Yes. Very picturesque, although silting in of the tidal flats has meant it is now rarely, if ever, truly an island at high tide as it once was. Here's a link to the history section of the Official Site.

That's okay ... even if I had posted first, I'd have to pass it on since I'm too new to the game to have much grasp of the lore.

I've been there IMO, its awesome.

List all the Racial Promotions available in FfH, and specify which ones indicate Non-Living Status.

Orc
Nomad
Elven
Elven (Svartalfar)
Dwarven
Winterborn
Dragon
Golem (non-living)
Demon (non-living)
Angel (non-living)
Undead (non-living)
Puppet (non-living)
Illusion (non-living)
Werewolf

I think that's all...

It's kinda weird when you think about it that there is no ''human'' race. I think adding one with a small bonus would be a good way to help give a little flavour to the human civs, particulaly the Elohim and Bannor. It could also help to balance them a bit better against the non-human races who are oftenly more powerful and flavoursome. Especially when you compare, for example, the Elohim to the Ljosalfar and Luchuip.

Can't think of a particularly good bonus atm but maybe a +20% city defense and 10% city attack bonus to represent how men have to learn to defend their sprawling human cities and gain new land for the empire. Would work well b/c both the Bannor and Kurios are meant to be huge empires and the elohim are meant to be great defenders.

I think that every race should have a racial bonus, such as the Amurites getting 'Blood of Kylorin', which gives a bonus to magic damage & resist, or the Sheaim having 'Endbringers', obtaining a bonus from the AC, to name a few.

When I was doing all my DLL upgrades in the Worker Mod I had placed a racial promotion on every civ to add flavor. But as I was uploading it I realized that I should move my messing with the code elsewhere, since people who enjoy the Worker Mod might not want the new Racial Promos.

Anyway, I do believe that Wyrmhero has the next question. I declare it to be "close enough"

You are missing Elemental (non-living), while Nomad and Winterborn are NOT racial promotions (you can have a Nomadic Werewolf, or even a Winterborn Puppet)

There's always one...

I had a good question to ask, but I've forgotten it (typical :p)

So, instead:

Which Arcangels were created after the others, who did they belong to, and when were they created?

suculleus's Third in command, after suculleus died, and cerdiwen (maybe? (suculleus' archangel) became God of Fertility

also, Hyborem, who is a direct, evil, copy of (suculleus' archangel)
