It took me 10 minutes to get to this page on my phone. I'm not happy at all. I hate phone browsers... Any of them. I had to close out twice and read the browser.
Buh.. how??

Could I ask what phone you're using? I'm assuming your connection speed is fast? Migh be a good idea to try another browser.

10 minutes seems insane. On my phone it literally loads enough to be useful in less than a second, and fully loads within 3 seconds (I'm running a Z3 btw).

May I ask something? Is there any reason why you use your phone to access the forums instead of a computer?
Computers are hard to use one-handed while standing on the bus. Especially the desktop computers. :p

It seems that below the forums statistics on the main overview there's a section "gallery statistics", which you cannot see when you're logged in (and there's no gallery...yet?)

To recap, @Thunderfall :
  • Additional forum styles will come
  • Download database will come
  • Old smileys will come
  • default avatars are missing
  • Non-latin characters are broken
  • some bb codes are broken, which include the
[pre]Moderator Action: Moderator Action: [float] [TAB] [set_anchor], youtube tag is now different, some problems with the spoiler tag

[*]Permissions: Normal users can delete their own posts, and probably should not
[*]Special user groups (e.g. moderators, former moderators, etc.) cannot delete their own posts
[*]Special user groups cannot report posts
[*]Special user groups do not have access to edit signature, title or their own profile page
[*]Some people (special user groups?) report being only able to edit posts within 5 minutes after creation
[*]Some people (I guess; special user groups?) do not have access to the media tab on the top, as well as "most media" and "most albums" under the "members" link on top

[*]Archieved thread subforums is not read only
[*]There's some problem with the thread prefixes

Wait, non-latin characters aren't broken, are they? Just the ones from vBulletin, which were stored with bad encodings.

Test: Æ, Ø, Å, æ, ø, å, ü, Ü, द, ट, ठ, ड, ممم, ひ, ら, が, な, ф, 會意/会意...

An extra feature I'd wish for however:
In the profile settings, there is an option for toggling email alerts when there are conversation activity (Contact Details -> Messaging Preferences -> Receive email when a new conversation message is received).

Getting a new email every time is a bit annoying, so if we could make it into a daily/weekly digest, that would be great.

Don't think that any forum has that option, sadly :/.

BUG: Non-Latin characters in posts before the migration seem to be broken. Here is an example. Not sure if this is possible to fix, just thought I'd bring it to your attention. Also could you maybe make hyperlinks more visible? They kind of blend into the background atm.

(and someone else, but cannot find it)
I'd edit this into my above post, but I belong to the people who cannot ^^.

EDIT @Cheetah : Stop liking everything :D.

2. EDIT:
Cannot access
When logged in, but can access when logged out (guess another special user group issue)

Argh, what is this? So bloody ugly.

They don't need the affirmation.

And you don't need to not have it. *shrugs* Seems we're both in a situation where we don't need what we want. Cool thing is that participation isn't mandatory so I can partake in what I want and you can partake in what you want. It's really quite nice.

Either way, in the greater scheme of things, the addition or removal of Likes is a minor component of this migration. There are far more important things that need to be fixed or addressed. I wouldn't be opposed to the Likes system being tweaked like Paradox's, but right now it's a neat little thing for the people who want to use it and at most a temporary distraction for those who don't while they do their best to simply not notice the minuscule button that says "Like" on a post.

So who dropped the DOWNLOADS sections with all the fab units.... This looks Moderator Action: <snip> IMHO.
We have had crashes with viruses that messed up the forum, but now some smart-ass decided to do it instead. Well done !!!!!
Why do someone always needs to "improve", since mostly it turns out Moderator Action: <snip> .

Moderator Action: Bad language removed.

Any word on my "go to first unread message" issue? Have they been reset for good, or is the history (or whatever the technical term is for it) going to be updated?

I understand the need to change, but this definitely feels like a step backwards. Everything blends in together, the color scheme is repugnant, and it is difficult to differentiate different things in post lists or forum pages. Editing a post also creates a subform which dulls other text on the thread. Like, really?

There are some neat additions in the update (like dynamic thread updates) but those good things are hidden under a miasma of hideousness. The forum looks like the kind you'd get for free in the early 2000s web hosting.

Why the hell are all posts in the last 30 days marked as unread?

EDIT: I keep seeing pieces of replaced text where smileys used to be, and broken links to threads everywhere, and can't even follow threads.

Well this is ugly as sin. I'm sure the tech upgrades will be nice, but the separation of posts, the avatar being thread image, the layout of user account stuff, and the changes to the PM system are super unhelpful in usability.

I'm not always by my computer. Often I am away. But I also find myself in idle times where I am waiting for something (or someone) and using my phone helps to fill in that idle time while I wait. And with the news and info about Civ VI, I am constantly checking for updates and discussions.

Unfortunately, I only have an LG phone... don't even ask me the model (PoS - if I had to guess). I can't afford to get an iGalaxy 8000 Deluxe V8-FX NotePad 2.38z+ phone. Still, with Tapatalk, I never had a problem. Anytime I am forced to use a browser for more than a quick lookup, maybe browsing pictures or something (most stuff will default to the appropriate app like Wikipedia or YouTube), well, I nearly throw my phone to put it mildly. I find that it is usually best that I avoid using the browser if I can. For Civfanatics, the solution was Tapatalk which, as I said, worked fine for me. That is why not being able to use it is a bitter pill for me to swallow. I have been a part of the Civfanatics community for over 10 years. If I can't access it on my phone... let's face it, in three weeks, whenever I am at my computer, I will not be on the forums... I suppose that I might not be very active here anymore.

That does sadden me...

3 issues:

1. Downloads - How do I get to download page? How do I find old download links?
2. Search - I couldn't find a search option in a thread. Will it return?
3. User details - No location, number of posts or title appear in a user box in a thread. I think it is essential.

The old layout wasn't exactly a looker, we were just used it. Give it a few days before making any final pronouncements.

I've been on five or six other forums and considered old CFC the best by far. It is now the worst.
