This doesn’t really make sense... Cleopatra (d. 30 BC) is in fact more contemporary with Amanitore (d. ~20 AD) than, say, Ramesses II who lived well over 1000 years before either.I feel that Ptolemaic Egypt was used in order to ensure that Nubia didn't feel redundant.
This assumes that they plan civs that far ahead.
If this assumption is true, you could look for other line-up anomalies (*stares at Catherine*) and maybe divine other future leaders?
Edit: Nubia was released as one of the early DLC so perhaps they don't plan civs THAT far ahead. But it's still a thought.

I'm hoping for a Celtic Civ with a Rise and Fall of Rome in it...
this really smells like something is about to happen
Gaul! Would serve as a great replacement of the Celtic blob from previous games, and Vercingetorix is a leader I'd gladly take.I'm hoping for a Celtic Civ with a Rise and Fall of Rome in it...

Well, that seems like a confirmation what I was thinking earlier. Whatever it is they're working on, they're working on it in plain sight (or as much plain sight as possible within the confines of game development on presently-unannounced DLC) because they know we're watching. If nothing else, it's entertaining, and it keeps up involved and speculating.
If they name a future depot TamarOfGeorgia, I would laugh.

The fourth depot appeared sooner than I expected. I now think there's a very good chance we get some sort of official word regarding future content before the end of April.

Like it or not, Scotland is probably our Celts this time around.
why are you guys still discussing celts? it is obvious the steam depot named "plaid" refers to speed and not the clothing article.
To be fair, there was also a thing a while back where a Firaxis artist shared what looked liked concept art for a Boudicca-style Celtic woman. No indication that was for Civ specifically (would have been a pretty big NDA breach if so), but there was definitely a link being made there when 'plaid' first appeared.why are you guys still discussing celts? it is obvious the steam depot named "plaid" refers to speed and not the clothing article.
