News for Each Region

North America

Sales in North America were yet again quite good for both consoles, although sales weren't as high as in the beginning of the year. This was mainly attributed to the lack of newly released games, but the one game that was released, Blood Feud, sold pretty well.

TIRC was busy preparing for the holiday release of the Square, from making sure that that even units were made to testing the quality of the handheld. TIRC also announced that they had finished developing a launch game for the Square named The Chronicles of Cachet: Castle Exbridge.

Mann Entertainment was also busy. First, they released the Showdown clone to fair results. They also gained Australia as a viable market and invested in reselling their older games there and Advertising. (+Australian Market)

Big Time Entertainment began developing the anticipated Commie Attack. Also they began to focus more heavily on Europe than before, as they added Europe as a market and advertised Homicide Cop there, which helped keep the game selling longer than usual.

Canal Entertainment began developing Pet Care- The Game, a title than many people think will be big with the kids.

Europe

Europe greatly resembled North America when it came to the world of games. Console sales remained good but weren't stellar. Homicide Cop and Blood Feud led as the top selling titles in Europe.

Avalon Games continued to develop Xanea III and they also improved their employees' morale by adding a suggestion box. It had been a small gesture, but it seemed to have worked. (+Employee Morale)

Spire Entertainment began developing a new title, World War Strategy 2.

Japan

Japan was really the only place where game sales were even better than they had been earlier in the year. The HiGrax continued to dominate, but the Box sold quite well in Japan as well.

Kingdom Inc. was yet again quiet, but the rumors about what they were working on continued. By this point, many people believed they were working on a next-gen console to eventually replace the HiGrax.

Gawshang invested into adding Europe as a market, as well as on production of more game copies. (+ Europe Market)

Australia

Connections Games continued to advertise Showdown and produce more copies of it, so it's sales remained high.

I completely forgot I was in this too, it appears I missed the last two updates..... well at least my developers had plenty of time to work on my latest best selling game of the series. *very top secret, not even the president or God can see it* :p

I will have my orders in after I get some sleep and get my mind in the right place again.

OOC NOTE: Now I think about it, in the real world isn't it illegal to make a deal permanently giving exclusives to a single gaming company? A deal of "For every game you make exclusive to us, we'll pay _____" is o.k, but from what I've heard a deal saying you won't sell games to any other company is not.

If you are in doubt, that means its not illegal. lol and apparently, in this NES world, it's been done that way for about few years, and the company didn't get cracked down.

I think you just want to switch over to another company. Where's your loyalty? :p

I kid.

The city of New York was in an uproar, the NYPD had closed down parts of Broadway for this event and traffic is now at a standstill as people filled the streets. Officers on horseback mingle through the crowd of some 2 million watching for troublemakers and keeping the peace, if it even worked. Today is July 4th, and Buddy Zabriskie was making his first appearance after a long lull, Zabriskie Entertainment vanished from the gaming industry for a considerable time making fans very concerned and worried that they lost an American icon.

Buddy Zabriskie was in his office, he stared out his window and saw the two twin towers that were constructed not more than 10 years ago and were considered the tallest towers in the world for twins. It was called the World Trade Center and it had more towers than just those two, but Buddy didn't care, his gaming empire was the largest in the world, and he was considered America's wealthiest man, he could build towers to beat the twins of New York if he wanted to, but his concern mostly was the games he prided himself in making. Each game was always on the cutting edge of technology, each game always sold well and his games were known in every corner of the world, from poor Africans to the wealthy playboys, even Hugh Hefner, owner of the Playboy magezine invites him to the playboy mansion for parties and booze, and of course the girls. But that was all in the pass, for 25 year old Buddy Zabriskie, the richest man in America and even the world, Founder and CEO of Zabriskie Entertainment was getting married.

Among the list of those invited were heads of every gaming company Zabriskie Entertainment has worked with or known, to name a few, Toshiki Mori, the owner of Kingdom Inc and the person who bought exclusive rights to City Stimulation Zabriskie Entertainment's best selling game, also invited was Greg Heitzimmer, owner of Big Time Entertainment, a company in which a deal was in the making for. Many others were invited as well as the President of the United States and Prime Minister of England, both of whom are good friends of Buddy. Many A list celebrities were there as well, such as Bruce Willis, Gene Hackman and many others. It is the most talked about event in New York since the Yankees signed Babe Ruth several decades ago, even the national papers picked it up and the entire nation tunes to their news agency to try to watch the wedding from New York.

Buddy sighed, he was not expecting such popularity, but at least the people now knew why Zabriskie Entertainment vanished under the radar for a few months. Buddy fixed his tie and mustered up some courage and headed outside and to the elevator, he pressed the button that took him to the 75th floor and got off, he took the stairs and opened the door at the top, he was now on the roof and he walked towards the priest shaking hands with those he could as he walked pass. When he finally arrived at the altar he breathed deeply and waited. A few minutes passed and the crowd hushed, the song 'Wedding march' filled the air and Buddy felt his heart skip a beat as he saw the most beautiful girl in the world stand by the door in white. The girl and her father marched down the aisle towards the altar where Buddy took over and the Priest read his rites.

The wedding was finally over and the guests were enjoying the reception, Buddy and his new wife headed downstairs and jumped into the limo and with a police escort rushed off to the airport and got into their private plane and quickly made for the Bahamas. The crowd continued to linger, many girls weeping and men filled with jealousy, many of the kids that were there went home disappointed, they were hoping to catch a glimpse of Zabriskie Entertainment's new project, City Stimulation 3: Rise of the Skyscrapers. But for now Buddy and Krystal were now the happies people on earth and there was nothing that could ruin it.

Update X
January-April 1989

Canal Entertainment invested in adding Japan as a market, and they succeeded. Also, they released Mushroom Men 2, which was a Big hit on the HiGrax. (+Japanese Market, +Fan Base Size)

Err, I got +Fan Base Size from update before this, but I don't think it was ever added to my stats.

As far as I can tell it's okay.

OOC: Did TIRC Inc pay me for Crystal Chronicles III, and I ratted by accident or something? Unlikely, but just checking.

Game Ideas

Evolution:
Consoles: The Box only (if given exclusive offer)
Genre: Simulation
Description:
The player starts off as a small, generic amphibian who has just crawled out of the sea. Other creatures already have, and the game focuses on survival. Over time, the player gets Eco-points with which to evolve their creature and improve it (customising both looks and actuality). They then start off as a new generation, and keep going. The objective is to become sentient.

The game world is procedurally generated, and designed so that it can expand fairly seemlessly as the player explores. It takes advantage of a small amount of processing power to slowly generate more land over time. Other species are procedurally generated over time, and actually evolve realistically.

Civilisation:
Consoles: The Box only (if given exclusive offer)
Genre: God Game

Description: The player goes from a tribal chief over time to make a civilisation that can conquer the world. Thanks to procedural generation, the game world can slowly be built in the earlier phases as the player plays, allowing for a much larger and more complicated game world later.

We spend a whole SP on getting the best experts for each stage to make it as realistic as possible.

Does anybody wish to buy the rights to the Silent Service series?

Stories

A Detailed Description of Civilisation

Phase I- The player plays a tribal chief leading his people. The objective is to find food over time, and grow in population (and technology). Other tribes can be attacked and assimilated, but this is not recommended unless you can take them by suprise.

Each phase the player ages, starting off as young and strong (making things easier), but slowly aging over time. When one chief dies, the player takes over as another. This phase takes several generations in-game.

Phase II (The equivilant of early Mesopotanian or Nile civilisation)- The game world zooms out, with a simplified version of the previous one (but also expanded significantly in all directions). The player is now a king, and has to run their city-state on a river valley. Expansion is now more practical due to an agricultural surplus. The player is trying to make as powerful an empire as possible.

The player also tries to mold the monarch of the next generation by their actions. Monarchs of diffrent characters make some actions easier and others harder- some monarchs will outright refuse the player's orders if they are extreme enough away from their personality.

Phase III- Over time, tech levels increase and eventually the game zooms out. Institutions come into the game, which the player's actions mold to some degree. The player also has to face a barbarian invasion, testing their military skills.

Things are now more abstract, focusing less (though it still matters) on the player's sons, family, and administration, and more on how their actions mold instutitions and culture (though doing so is as hard as in real life). War also is involved, as the player competes militarily with other states. Monuments can be built to accumulate bonus points, but they also mold institutions in a realistic way.

From this phase onward, a player can culturally influence other states. They can also switch between any states of their culture, though their percentage of control is equal to the influence of the player culture. Technology is also influenced by the culture.

Building a powerful empire is possible, but there are limits. It is easier, but still difficult at this phase, to spread a culture over a wide area.

Phase IV- Over time, things play more like (OOC: OTL's Civilisation series) an abstract strategy game, with the objective being to conquer the world, militarily or culturally. This phase is about twice as long as the last one, and plays up to Modern Tech.

A victorious culture that conquers the world is compared for making the game purposes to modern Western culture, except even more hegemonic (after all, the executive argues, even Communism is a Western idea).

The game world is procedurally generated. It takes advantage of the time of earlier phases and slowly spends a portion of processing power on generating the rest of the world for later phases.

We are willing to sell the rights to a Crystal Chronicles spinoff.

Stories:

Graphics Experiments
Peter looked over the information before him.

"Can you explain how this works again?"
"Certainly, sir."
"So?"

"We have real people's footage filmed and have them make several variants of standard actions. These are used as default actions in-game to make for a variety of possible attacks in the fight. The actors will film large numbers of possible moves, which can then be inserted into the game."
"Ah" said Peter.
"We make them do so many actions that we can have the player characters going around and such, in real time. It would be like a fighting game, but with real world graphics!"
"Ah?"
"You see!"

"Nup" said Peter, "Not feasible".

Before the man could answer, he walked out.

More Game Ideas: (Frozen in Ice, you don't have to read these and cost them yet. They're just for later)

Chess:
A game of chess, playable multiplayer and with an AI. It also allows for storage of games, saving of games, and playing them back.

Joe Superhero:
The player is a superhero, with a procedural generator which slowly makes more complexity. Building on the technology made in other games, the player will get a villian's gallery over time, programmed to follow various supervillian cliches.

Hey, are dual company produced games allowed?
Yeah, it should be ok, can you just give me a bit more of an idea of what you were thinking?

OOC NOTE: Now I think about it, in the real world isn't it illegal to make a deal permanently giving exclusives to a single gaming company? A deal of "For every game you make exclusive to us, we'll pay _____" is o.k, but from what I've heard a deal saying you won't sell games to any other company is not.
The deal is perfectly legal, but you can always end it if you want. But if you do that, you won't paid by TIRC anymore.

Nice story germanicus12.:goodjob:

@ Neverwonagame3: Evolution will cost 4 SP and Civilisation (or do you mean Civilization?) will cost 5 SP.

To Mann Entertainment
From TIRC

We would be willing to buy the rights to the Silent Service series and pay for the exclusivity of Civilisation.
