GameNES 2: Rebirth of Gaming

does anyone want to buy Satan's kingdom?

OOC Query 1: At this stage, how much would the technology cost for a 3D console?
OOC Query 2: How many remaining players think it unfair if I base ideas for games off real ones?
OOC Query 3: What's a BGM?
#1 Well, depending on what other features you put in it could cost anywhere from 13ish to 16ish SP. These are just estimates though.
#2 See reply to next quote.
#3 Where did you see "BGM" used?
np, but is that really 1,055,000 units sold for Homicide Cop?!

and neverwonagame i wouldn't say its unfair to base ideas off of real ones, i just think it would be boring, i like seeing ideas for new unique games and think basing them off real ones would be pretty lazy/boring/unoriginal. just my opinion.
Thanks for catching that error, it really sold 105,000 copies this update. Also, I agree with you about the game ideas. I would prefer original game ideas as they are much more interesting.
I'll be taking my leave as well. Need to pare down some NESes.
I completely understand, and thanks for participating. :)

TIRC will be made an NPC for now, but if anyone wants to join in as them or switch companies to them feel free.

I saw BGMs used in the description of Crystal Chroncles II. And my idea is partly original.

FINAL NOTE: How much would it cost to create a wholly owned subsidiary?

The main thing ripped off here is Procedural Generation, by which instead of actually making something a program is put in which generates it instead. This saves memory, and developer time, with the downside that it's diffrent every time. I will partially use it to advantage.

Frozen in Ice, how much will that cost? (Actually, now I think about it, I suspect my schemes as portrayed below are overambitious. Can you tell me what you think of that?)

New Game Ideas: (a backup ambitious plan if the other one doesn't go through)

Crystal Chronicles III: Living World
Consoles: All
Genre: R.P.G

Description: This game will apply the new technology of Procedural Generation to the series. An NPC generator will generate NPCs by adding a set of traits (programmed by the developers), motives, and ability sets, which interact with each other. A procedural map generator (which is told to put certain objects in certain ways in certain terrain types) is used to make the initial map (with NPCs generated next onto appropriate areas). After those two things, the developers will insert the relevant terrain and NPC alterations to be make the storylines.
At this point in time, making a fully procedural game would be very tough and expensive, though not impossible. You can try to make it procedural if you want, but be aware that procedural tech might be more trouble than it is worth. For example, while an RPG might have nearly limitless replay value if it is procedural, it would be tough to make story and gameplay that fits all of the possible instances that could be created by the game.

One last question to add to my list- how much extra would it be to allow characters in the player's party, based on traits, to advice the player as to the best course of action?

This feature by itself won't really raise the cost of the game.

How many spending points in particular? Anyway, we didn't mean fully procedural IN THAT SENSE. We make a SINGLE procedural map to start with, but simply use that to save on map design. Then we use a SINGLE procedurally generated program to make all the NPC minds, then do adjustments based on the requirements of storyline, gameplay, and stuff.

Anyway, how much would the Xanatos Gambit program cost to get it to a degree where it could actually sucessfully manipulate some players?

To: Kingdom Inc.
From: Canal Entertainment
Subject: Exclusive Game Deal?

Earlier you said:
Kingdom Inc. offers Canal Entertainment 1 SP and production/advertising for Mushroom Man to be exclusive, including all sequels if any. (Further payments will come for them too. :p)

We here at Canal Entertainment have been working on Mushroom Man 2; 'Shroom Brothers, and we were wondering if we would get any funding (1 SP) from you there at Kingdom Inc. for making it exclusive to the HiGrax.

We will send 1 SP this turn.

HiGrax AND Camelot.

Gona open market into East Asia. (China! Here I come!)

Arcade Explosion will cost 3 SP then.

Oh, ok, I think I understand what you are trying to accomplish now. Crystal Chronicles III: Living World will cost 5 SP. Since procedural generation is still pretty new at this point it is costly, but it will allow you to make a map that is much bigger than normal.

Is Xanatos Gambit program that feature where the NPCs advise you?

How much was Commie Attack! going to cost? 3 sp?
Yes, 3 SP.

No- that's a diffrent thing. Xanatos Gambit is a feature where the villian can manipulate the player.

A villian can manipulate a player? Where has this happened today? I have had no villian manipulating me yet....

Maybe I am just unmanipulatable. :(

So basically depending on a certain situation a villain NPC will try to convince the player certain action? If this is the case then that feature won't really cost anything extra.

Notice: I will be gone for the next 5 days or so on vacation, but I *should* have internet access. If I am not able to get on, however, this is the reason.

OOC: Have I already been paid for my exclusives?

Non-Diplomacy:
Also, procedural generation will create the NPCs of the game, give them some relations and backstory. How much will that cost?

Example Xanatos Gambit:
A villian decides to have a minion ask to join the player's party. The player, glad to have a new figure, accepts. The player's motivation, as revealed by his responses to events, seems to be building up his gold supply. The minion, given a fake excuse as his mother is sick, asks and gets permission to leave the party for a little while.

The villian, now knowing the player's goal, decides to post a fake mission with a large gold reward. He thus lures the hero into an ambush. Various options here, depending on villian traits, include killing him, taking him to the dungeons, recruiting him against another enemy, and so on.

Also, he doesn't necessarily have to lure him into an ambush. He could enlist the hero into his service, pay him to defeat one of his rivals, to unknowingly attack non-villians, and the like.

Ultimately, if the hero is sucessfully duped for long enough or is outmanuvred in a manner the villian interprets as descisive, it usually culminates in a Reveal where the villian taunts him and explains how he found all the information out. (It is possible to attack him in the middle of the taunt, but this simply starts a conventional fight)

A New Executive
Peter Tallman, an average-sized man who had worked in Mann Entertainment for a while, was on the way up. Having just gained the post of Executive, he was determined to make his mark. But some problems emerged on the way.

"We can't add procedural generation to Silent Service!"
"Why not?"
"It'll cost too much!"

Ultimately, the voice actor for the main Silent Service character threatened to quit, and Tallman backed down. He would end up having his way over Crystal Chronicles, but the Silent Service team didn't want to take risks.

The question of how a weak executive would affect the company was as of yet not resolved...
