Gr8 Team B The Pheonix Rising

Wow, I'm gone for two days and 6 pages worth of posting occurs

Sad about the Aztecs biting the dust, but this one is looking much more promising. Gotta love having cheap libraries for catching up.

Edit: Also wanted to throw in my two cents on the Fishies issue: I concur, 1S of them looks ideal.

Don't have a turnlog, but I really needed to finish quick so I could watch monday night football :mischief: . Turnlog's for me take more than half the time. I hope two pics make up for that :D .

Wat I did:
Researched math, switched a couple cities to cats, started on iron, due in 11 IIRC. Founded three cities, one south of the fishies, one on a hill southwest of the fishies, and another on a new found choke. I don't know if this is good or not, it means we probably have another opponent, but we have a choke to defend from. England has swords, but having cats to combat against makes up for that. Another settler in 1 turn, should go to the sugar. I know it's a waste of food, but that's the only place where we could shuffle units to the choke location, and that place will need tons of support. The white dot is on a BG, but IMO is still the best location. Here's the pics.

Why must settle on the sugar? Any one of the 2 tiles around it is equally ok to send reinforcement.
And you must raze Warwick, lest your city gets flipped.

Warwick has no culture. No worries, will razie it when we get a sword army. Btw, we have an empty army in Berlin ready to be filled with swords.

Your city could flip even if Warwick has no culture, so you'd better be quick to raze it ...

I got it, but I'm headed to bed. I'll look at it tomorrow, finish by the next day at the latest.

@ Heroes: The southernmost of the two tiles neighboring Own's blue dot is four tiles from the choke city. The other one is two tiles from another town.

@ Own: Personally I'd rather build the two-tiles-apart town than build on the sugar. Bonus-grass equivalents aren't exactly thick on the ground down in that direction. We can always plan to abandon the town in the long run if it's too cramped for the late-game. Nice job getting three cities settled. :)

I'll have to wait until tomorrow to make any more intelligent comments.

Yes, I am suggesting cxc ... :D

I think Kaiser Berger is first. Sorry, I messed up the roster before, but I think it is:

Renata - on deck
Leha - in the dugout
zyxy - patience, my boy, patience
Own - just played
Kaiser Berger - up (sorry I forgot you first time  )

EDIT: good call on the choke point. I think we can handle another war, in fact we probably want to have one or two more wars, to ease our comeback later in the game. Civs that have warred long will be relatively backward and weak - good for pointy stick. With two or three of them we can oscillate and work our way back up, hopefully.

Ok, I can wait. :)

I think we should just fill that army with archers. Swords are too far away -- about 15 turns minimum even if we're lucky and do have iron in a good spot.

Edit: or fill it with spears and go pillaging.

Just a comment: If KB can't play by tonight, I'll need a skip. I'll be away from Friday to Sunday, and I have plans for Thursday night.

I've tried that in AWD, and I usually die because of the loss of three spears. An archer army will get attacked, and is never safe, and swords aren't that far away. We've got tons of hills/mountains in the tundra area, wouldn't be surprised if we had iron. Definately upgrade the elite* warrior.

You're right going CXC by the sugar, was late at night, wasn't thinking. And Kaiser Berger definately is up.

Defense-1 armies are safe until 4-attack units show up, IIRC, provided they're not damaged. And a damaged sword army will get attacked anyway, so either way we'd need cover until we have a second army. And either type of army would serve as sufficient cover for a stack of normal attackers. I guess it just gives me hives to have the most powerful weapon in AW sitting unused for probably 25-30 turns.

The Wheel next up techwise?

(Next leader should go to build the Heroic Epic?)

The Wheel? I was thinking writing to get to republic.

An archer army definately will get attacked by archers and swords. Was in an AWM game where we tried an archer army out and it got attacked at full strength. We'll get plenty of leaders, and we're doing fine. Next leader definately should rush the HE.

In AW, usually just armies attack by themselves, and regular units with artillery defend and leaderfish. A sword army can easily raze any crap town by itself, and two can raze a major city.

Perhaps it will have changed by now, but in my turnset the English were not a danger at all. I saw maybe 4 archers in 10 turns. So I think we should use the army if needed, but leave it empty until swords otherwise. Epic would be nice though. Anyway, we're close to IW, we'll hopefully have swords at the end of KB's turns.

No it hasn't changed. England is no threat what so ever. No army is needed imediatly, so let's wait for swords, so we can start :hammer:

AW without horses is no fun at all once multiple civs show up -- I did that in COTM11, and it was nasty. We may get away with it with only 45 turns left to 10AD, though. If no other civ has turned up by the time KB or I get iron working, then I could live with writing next.
