Help me out and win a case of beer

If it's your own pics on your iPad, then the last step is the same; you need a URL to put inside the [img][/img] tags*. So the question is how to get a URL for a picture on your iPad? If you had the imgur app (or any other image uploading app), this should be relatively simply/self-explanatory. There'll be an option somewhere in the app for you to select the photo to upload, and then once you've selected it, and uploaded it, links will appear, which you can then copy and paste between the image tags.

*you can upload as an attachment, but maybe that's a little more difficult.

See it's technical questions like this that are destined to leave you very thirsty my friend. However a quick google of what "browser" means leads me to suspect the answer is Safari?

Oh Apple users. think they are so sophisticated, and yet, so hapless.

I call racism, I'm seeing clear preferential treatment of Australians.

Edit: I meant rasisim naturally.

For real? Okay, piece of cake. First, get an Android device. Just kidding. But really, you should.

Post your photo in flickr it's free. Just hit "upload" then choose the files. DO THIS THROUGH YOUR BROWSER. DO NOT USE THE FLICKR APP.

Go to your photostream.

Tap the photo you want to upload. When the photo loads, press and hold down on the image until a window comes up that reads "Save Image" and "View Image". Tap "view image."

When the photo is loaded, press and hold down on the url address window at the top of your browser until a window pops up and then scroll down to the line "copy url" or "copy url link" and then tap it.

This puts the url link on your ipad's clipboard.

Go to CFC, open or edit a reply. Hit the "insert image url" button then "paste" the url from your clipboard to the reply window and "voila" image is posted.

I am going to assume you do most of your posts from a personal desktop at home.

  1. Buy a domain and hosting package from 1&1
  2. Register a cool domain
  3. Set up your ftp access via the 1&1 control panel
  4. Download Filezilla and configure it to access your new domain space
  5. Create a blank index file to upload to every directory you create so people can't -easily- browse your images without a direct link
  6. Create a directory structure to sort your images
  7. Upload image, right click on image in right pane of filezilla and copy url
  8. Make CFC post and use img button to bring up popup box asking for image url
  9. CTRL-V to paste the url
  10. Replace ftp://<whatever>@ with http://www.
  11. Click ok
  12. Finish post

End result...

Indeed that's why I posted. I don't recall ever seeing it before. I'm not a beer person, though, so feel free to take it all :)

That said, I suspect iPad has ftp apps available and surely it can cut/paste, so with some modification, my plan would still work. Though if you want thumbnail functionality and whatnot, then it becomes a whole other ballgame because then you have to resize yourself, upload both, manually create the url/img tags to properly display the thumbnail which when clicked will open the full image in a new window blah blah.... gah, I hate that photobucket now sucks. had them (pro account) for years and they went and changed everything on me.

I know this was done in the right spirit but unless "dumb it down" (see OP) means "assume doctorate in computer science" in America, this post is not overly useful to me.

@the infinitely more helpful Reindeer Thistle, what do you mean "download through your browser, do not use the Flicker app"?

@rugbyLEAGUEfan: use the iPad web browser to get a flickr account. It is more user- friendly.

Hope this helps.
