Dr Kevorkian’s Log, May 17, 2011
I was assigned a new patient today, a most interesting young girl. At only seven years of age, she’s the youngest patient I’ve had so far. She was brought into the emergency room two weeks ago for severe lacerations all across her back. No sign of sexual molestation or any other forms of abuse were found on her. The doctor on call treated her injuries and sent her here for a psychological examination. Apparently her orphanage wasn’t particularly happy about this, they wanted to get her back to familiar surroundings ASAP. The police are investigating the orphanage to determine who injured her. I’ll be meeting her tomorrow

I examined Anna the orphanage girl today. She spent two hours curled up on the couch, not saying a word, just crying. I put her in an observation room for the night, hopefully tomorrow we’ll have better luck.

She’s stopped crying and now spends her time drawing, generally pictures of the Sunnyvale Orphanage. She still refuses to talk, but these drawings do indicate progress of some sort. Something about the pictures bothers me, but I can’t put my finger on it.

Finally real, honest to goodness to progress! She spoke to me during one of our sessions, it was nonsense but still. I have the transcription somewhere around here...
Kevorkian: Anna, how are you today?
Kevorkian: Anna, I notice that you drew some more pictures. Can you explain what they mean? <Kevorkian pulls out a sheaf of papers with drawings. He pulls out one with a small girl and several dark trees>
Kevorkian: Anna, is this girl you?
Kevorkian: <sighs and gets up> Anna, I have to go now. If you feel like talking I’ll be available
Anna: … He’s coming for me
Kevorkian: <sits back down> Anna, what did you say?
Anna: He’s coming for me and you won’t see him coming
Kevorkian: Anna, who’s coming for you? Is he in the drawings?
Anna: He’s coming... <Anna whispers something and stops responding and Kevorkian spends half an hour trying to elicit a response>

Despite her progress four days ago she has refused to talk again. Very frustrating. The drawings are getting more surreal though. I’ve been looking more closely at her drawings and I think I know what seemed wrong. One of the things in the background, I thought it was a tree at first, but now its started to look like a tall man in a suit. Maybe she was talking about him? I’ll have to talk to her about it. Anyways, the police investigation is over. They have ignored my repeated requests for information, bloody cops.

Anna opened up today. Just look...
Kevorkian: Anna, how are you feeling today?
Kevorkian: Anna, I was looking at your sketches. <pulls out a stack of paper with sketches>
Kevorkian: <points out a shape in the background of one of the sketches> Is this the man who’s coming for you?
Anna: <visibly distressed> He is coming for me. The tall man is coming.
Kevorkian: Anna, who is the tall man? Is he someone at the orphanage?
Anna: He is coming for me. He is coming for us all
Kevorkian: Anna, this is important. Who is the tall man?
Anna: He watches us from the shadows. He is coming
Kevorkian: Anna, tell me. Who is he? Why is he coming?
Anna: <whisper> The thin man wants...
Kevorkian: What, what does he want?
Anna: He is waiting in the trees. He is coming for me
Kevorkian: Anna, I don’t understand, how can he be waiting and coming at the same time?
Anna: He is everywhere. He is watching. The Slender Man is watching
Kevorkian: Is he watching us now? Is he in the room with us? <Anna muttered something incoherent in response>
Kevorkian: Anna, what do you mean? You need to explain!
Anna refused to elaborate, just repeating that he is coming over and over. I found a strange mark scrawled on my lawn, a circle with a large X scrawled through it. Stupid neighborhood kids, last week they teepeed the oak in my front yard.

The hospital released her from my care. They said I was getting too close, that I was acting erratically. Truly the stupidity of the administration knows no bounds. Dr Piaget, my respected replacement, is a decent enough doctor but hardly the kind Anna needs now. She was opening up to me, a stranger is going to make her clam up like a... like a clam! Argh! And on top of that I think I’m seeing things. Shadows that are there one moment and gone the next.
Dr Kevorkian’s Log, May 23, 2011
Dr Piaget, the incompetent hack, sent me a piece of paper today, said it was from Anna. It was more of her delusions. Lots of scribbles in the shape of a tall man in a suit. Scrawled across the bottom of the paper were the words “The Slender Man is coming for you”. That night I could swear I saw a shape moving past my window. I must upgrade my home security, those kids in the area are trying to get to me.

He is coming. He is coming for me. The Slender Man is coming. His arms are open and he is coming.

I was assigned a new patient today, a man who appears to have a budding case of Parkinson’s.
