Not quite. The Poles invited the Order in to clear out the pagan enclave in what eventually became East Prussia - they sucked too hard to do it themselves, and yeah they did try - and the Pope put his stamp on it. Poland was already a Christian state by then.Over the next century and a half, the Order crushed the pagan inhabitants and converted the remainder, shipped in German peasants to make up the difference and clear the old woods, and even managed to force the pagan Grand Duchy of Lithuania's rulers into converting (then they - dude named Mindaugas - recanted), then forced them into it again. Then Lithuania united with Poland after the Order got too strong for the two of them, then came Tannenberg and sad times.
But the Order did school the Poles over Pomerelia/West Prussia before the Poles had to call in the Lithuanians to teach them how to fight.Poland failed at fighting Brandenburg over Pomerelia so they asked the Order to do it for them in exchange for cash, then when the Poles elected not to pay the Order the Grand Master kept West Prussia to make up the difference. 14th century: good times.
Delete the huge amount of anti-Polishism and bias, then yes, pretty much.
I'm kinda getting tired of people making Poland look bad, the 14th century was Poland's first Golden age when Poland was arguably the strongest nation in Europe (by arguable, maybe France was even at the time), and Prussia was Poland's Vassal till the partitions, and Poland was always stronger then the order. But i give up trying, i am getting seriously bored with this useless argueing.
I guess you guys just have to much of a superiority complex to even rethink your opinion about Poland. (ie. bloody eastern slavic commie russian bastards). I officially give up trying, Poland is Eastern European, because you guys think you are to superior for anything otherwise, even to accept the greats of your own kin. (Yes, Poland is Western Civilization's child, not Eastern)
I think i'm going to not post as much in OT, as much as i love the people of OT, i have a Midas touch on topics that makes things turn into Poland threads, and i'd rather not have to deal with such anti-Poland banter.
