Subnautica Zero
I didnt play the first one, but Iam having a blast so far with exploration and building. Theres some frustration with finding enough Lead material which are needed for the base building
I guess they had to make that material semi rare otherwise it would be to easy for the player to set up mini bases everywhere.
I definitely recommend the first one. The base-building is slightly less refined, but the map feels a little bigger and more exciting, and I liked the vehicles in that game more than the Seatruck. I understand what they were doing with the more multipurpose functionality of the truck, but I think the two subs in the first game had more character.

I'm not sure how far into Below Zero you are, but if you want to know where I find a lot of lead...
Spoiler :
I've found some lead in Twisty Bridges and Thermal Spires. You're right, though, it seems harder to find than other things.

Citizen of Rome: Dynasty Ascendant. This is kinda a poor-man's CKII, but it's sluggish, and when the leader of your clan dies, his money is divided among all the heirs, making everyone much poorer. Playable but not recommended. :shake:

First Subnautica was EXCELLENT.

I'm trying to hold off on BZ for a bit to see if any early bugs need taken care of, but my resolve is wavering... especially because my Long Dark objectives seem to be reached.

Day 105 on Interloper and I've finally retrieved Technical Backpack and Crampons from Ash Canyon mine, thereby completing my set of gear. Maybe I'll climb Timberwolf Mountain before retiring.

fwiw, Below Zero was in "early access" for a loooong time. It seems pretty solid to me. I think I clipped into the bottom of an iceberg one time, but that's the only thing I remember that I would call a bug.

Have you got "Faithful Cartographer" yet? At any rate, I don't think a TLD run is complete without summitting The Wolf.

With a laptop that can finally play, uh... DEUS EX: MANKIND DIVIDED, I decided I'd first replay DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION. I remember enjoying it well enough when I first played it, but I'm struggling to get into it this time. Maybe I should just read the synopsis and move on. It's been three years since I played it, so I shouldn't be suffering from over-familiarity, but...

I loved Deus Ex: HR the first time through, but I've never made much progress in my subsequent playthroughs. Perhaps because you no longer have the 'into the unknown' sense with it.

For some reason Deus Ex: MD absolutely handed my ass to me in the first proper mission - when you need to find a guy to get you augs fixed. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get to him, and then when I found where I had to go my sneaking was just a fail through and through and I got killed in a firefight from multiple angles.
And I ragequit. A game should not be that hard in the first freaking mission.

I don't recall having that much difficulty, though it's been a while. I do know that Prague is big and there's too many things to hack into, so much so that I got bored doing it and stopped playing.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition time, heck yeah.

After spending the required ten thousand hours working out what to call my Shepard, Morello Shepard is on the Citadel and ready to politely take names and kick ass.

The improved lighting makes worlds of different in ME1. Far less aged-looking than ME1 would otherwise be.

I played ME1 not long ago looked terrible. ME3 wasn't to bad.

Have they reworked the equipment to ME2 or 3 standards or is it just an update.

It's kind of hard to explain how much they reworked. It's a lot, but it also might not feel like a lot (especially without sitting next to original ME1 for a comparison). ME1 has the most changes for sure. The combat UI and "flow" of the fights feels a lot more like ME2 and ME3 now. There are some convenience bits added for inventory management, though the inventory is the same as it used to be (you can now mark items for trash, and reduce them to omni-gel all at the same time).

I don't mind dated graphics hellbplaed KoToR on the Xbox game pass.

Then I played Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Origins and wow.

Well... I got 4 seemingly random CTDs in first 88 minutes of playtime.
No autosave feature, so after having to start from scratch for third time I learned to save every couple minutes.
Of course, it can also crash while attempting to save...:cringe:

JACKBOX GAMES PARTY PACKS 6 and 7 with a bunch of friends. Went better than expected, and no voice chat required. Will do again.

Never had any issues with crashes.
I did miss an important map which your suppose to scan, it shows the Labs, Mines and other important locations. Was struggling to find some of the rarer minerals
Really thankful that the game gives you planter boxes as catching fish for food and water was getting tedious
By the end I had one main base and multiple small scattered everywhere. Then I realised that resources arent randomized and don't respawn.
I had a good time with it.

I think The Long Dark is the only 'survival' game I've played that got the balance right. Playing "Freedom Mode" in Subnautica was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

DEUS EX: MANKIND DIVIDED. Very shiny, and seems enjoyable. I'm not suuuuuuper into it yet. I'm not sure I ever will be; but until then, it's holding my attention decently well, so I'll keep going until that changes.

Really, this game is just making me want to write cyberpunk things.

I've started playing that again this week, too. I bought it 3-4 years ago and only played it about 12 hours. I can't remember why I stopped. I liked Deus Ex, Invisible War and Human Revolution. I think I had only recently finished Human Revolution when I picked up Mankind Divided, so maybe I was just burned out.

At first, I had a heck of a time saving the dude from the gold-faced cyborg hit-squad in the sandstorm before the helicopter took off. Must've tried fighting them 5 or 6 times, going different routes, using different weapons, failing every time, until I remembered the key to the encounter was "Get to da choppa!" And then it was easy. I've just had the black market surgeon dude reset my cybernetics for me. I think I'm going to go "nonlethal vigilante", as much as the game will let me. I like using stealth and hacking to break into side areas and read people's emails and whatnot.

I tried playing on Ultra and Very High graphics settings, and it seemed fine, until it just started seizing up for no discernible reason. It gave me a message saying I didn't have enough RAM, when I definitely do. But honestly, playing it on High graphics settings doesn't seem much different from Very High. I might try updating my graphics drivers, 'cause I probably need to do that anyway, but :dunno:

Been playing the Mass Effect remaster. Very impressed with what they did with the first game - the graphics are a big improvement and while the combat hasn't changed massively, guns feel a lot more comfortable to use without investing a lot of skill points thanks to the accuracy buffs (I was playing as an Adept and didn't even bother putting points into pistols, as I could actually hit things with the other weapon types). The improvements to ME2 aren't as good - though better, the graphics actually feel a little worse than those in the ME1 remaster, and the devs don't seem to have done anything to fix bugs and other issues in the game (e.g. Vanguard's Charge ability still freqently does nothing). That said, it definitely look better than it did, and it's still ME2, so it's still an incredible game. And I'm only about halfway through 2 so I can't comment on 3 yet....

I felt exactly the same way. Really liked Human Revolution, but struggled to get into Mankind Divided. I see it as having the same problem as Witcher 3 for me (not that W3 isn't good) - coming off of a tighter game, the sudden openness felt less engaging somehow. It doesn't help, as you said, that the prologue upped the excitement factor and then it just drops off as you are left to explore a huge map at leisure.

I should probably get back to it at some point, but it's been about 5 years.
