My avatar is full of crap. When I saw it on the avatar list here at CFC I said to myself "That's me!".

Must have something do with Civ V? In rebellion against Steam I never bought V or any other game on Steam, so I really don't know. I play a lot of Civ IV.

Anyone know why a guy pushing a load of crap would be available as an Avatar choice at CFC?

You don't need steam to play/buy Civ V, just be an American and go to your local retail store and support your economy. :)

After you buy it, pay for it and take it home don't you still need Steam to tell you that its okay to play the thing?

If the internet goes out can you still play the game?

I bought Civ V via steam myself, but I don't think so.

You probably need steam for online multiplayer, but otherwise I'm thinking you don't need it. Idk if Civ V supports gamespy or not.

You can easily play Civ V offline, as I've done it myself even while my internet was down.

Loved that song.

No one can say they're fighting against the system if they conform to social norms like a mindless robot. Despite being fully heterosexual, I refer to my male friends as 'boyfriends' all the time and also call them darling and dear. If women can do it to other women and still be considered straight, why can't we?

Refer to your undergarments as man-panties.

Can one get patches and such from other sites besides Steam?

I think you can even get them from this very site, but I'm not sure. Anyway, as long as you don't actually activate your credit card (meaning spending money) on steam, they aren't really profiting off of you, meaning they lose. Support your local retailers to give jobs, and try not to support companies like steam that give almost no jobs except when you absolutely have to.

Local retailers are bad for indie games i.e. the only developers actually pushing innovation and artistic expression in games. Retail stores, while they do provide minimum wage work to some high school kids, generally aren't any more "good" for a local economy than a McDonalds or a Burger King are (i.e. not that much). Support your indie developers and buy from Steam or GoG or the like.

After I bought CiV at my retail store and tried to install it, I found out I needed this thing called Steam I had never heard of. But it has an offline mode in which you can play any game you have which doesn't require an Internet connection by itself.

It's dreadfully gay to go around calling other men 'dear' and 'darling'. :)
Is it?

It's not something I do myself to other men, but I've no objection to being called "dear" or "darling" by anyone. And I've never thought of myself as gay in any other way but a cheerfully happy one.

In the US southeast a lot of men call younger men honey.

And my avatar is a squirrel. He's been my avatar here for 7 or 8 years. His name is Buddha Squirrel. His name comes from an old movie called "Dream with the Fishes" which references a hypothetical Buddha Rat.

Maybe it's just another of my little idiosyncracies then. :)

I grew up in Fayettenam. Are you from Asheville?

Fayettenam haha. Never been around there much except for few visits to military friends. I'm from Boomer, Wilkes County and grew up in the Yadkin Valley between the Brushy Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Well I'd kill for one of those jobs... the employers in my town won't even give me an interview, and FYI I have a good G.P.A (both high school and college) and no criminal record to speak of.

We've lost tons of manufacturing jobs here in America, so we need more jobs, not less. And many of the people working these jobs are not kids, they are adults that are desperate for anything. I'm all for increasing minimum wage for the record, as they're wanting to do in fast food.

Besides, I suppose you could buy your 'indie exclusives' on steam, but otherwise support your local retail that gives jobs.
