Instant e-mail notifications have stopped being sent

Which registered usergroup? My CFC email notifications are still going straight to spam. That's not what I would call "fixed."

From chat just now:

<Diair> any admins around?
<croxis> mail still not working?
<Diair> yeah
<Diair> or rather, I didn't get a reply from the message I sent to the moderators yesterday
<Diair> meh
<croxis> you check spam folder?
<Diair> Would you mind bumping that thread you showed me yesterday with my name?
<Diair> yeah
<croxis> whats your forum name again?
<Diair> Diair

EDIT: Jaek24 came in and reported no email either.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the problem that the forum has been used to produce spam, not that gmail is still treating it as spam. I guess that might take some days til it's most likely resolved by itself.

FWIW, my experience is that gmail is still treating CivFanatics email notifications as spam. Even when I mark them as "not spam", subsequent messages are still directed to my gmail spam folder.

I haven't seen an email in days, and nothing in my SPAM folder.

If this helps with troubleshooting, here's my experience today.

I just had to reset my password for some reason and I had to fill out the form five times before one e-mail showed up with the reset password link. It was in my g-mail spam folder.

I went to that link four or five times and the new password e-mail never arrived, so I decided to wait.

Four hours later one e-mail with my new password and three e-mails with the reset password link showed up in my spam folder. The timestamp said 9 AM, though I think I clicked these links around 8 AM.

I clicked "not spam" every time and it still gets sent to spam. Perhaps this is a g-mail problem? Maybe they are scanning the e-mails because they think they are spam.

EDIT:
Okay, the last password reset e-mail showed up a day later, still in spam.

The emails are still not being sent at all for me (using gmail). I received a PM this morning but there is no email in either my spam or inbox folders.

Have you set them up for separate labels/boxes, by any chance?

For problems with Gmail putting CFC notifications into the SPAM folder. Here are two solutions:

  1. Put the from address in the CFC notifications into your contacts list. Gmail will not put e-mail from any of your contacts into SPAM.
  2. Create a filter matching the from address in the CFC notifications and select the action "Never put into the SPAM folder".

For non-Gmail e-mail clients there should be a (another) way to create a white list filter for CFC notifications. Check the documentation for doing so; it is usually not too difficult to do.

How do I do this? The closest thing I can find is "inviting to chat." I don't want to chat with Thunderfall. I just want my email notifications to appear in the right part of my gmail account.

I would like it even better if we weren't discussing workarounds to a problem that's been going on for an annoyingly long time. I'm not inclined to muck around with a second email account just for one site.

Just hover your cursor over the email address in your inbox. A pop-up will appear, and you can click on the "Add to contacts" option. However, this didn't stop CivFantics from being sent to Spam for me.

I tried hovering, and didn't get any popups. Does it matter that I've got Ad Block Plus enabled?

Try the second method of adding a filter in Gmail and selecting the "Never move to SPAM folder". That should definitely work. Note that this action is not available in Gmail's Basic HTML. I had to switch from Basic HTML to the more advanced mode that provides chat. After creating this filter, I went back to Basic HTML mode and now none all my CFC notifications are going into my Inbox as expected.

There should be an add filter link near the top of the main Gmail web page (where a list of your latest e-mail subject lines are displayed).

Maybe. Try this: In the upper left corner of your Gmail window there should be a Gmail button with a drop-down menu (It's just above the "Compose" button in my browser). If you click on the drop-down menu and select "Contacts" from the list, you can manually add CivFanatics to your contact list.

Again, this didn't stop CivFanatics emails from being sent to my Spam folder, but YMMV.

Thanks. I'll try that.
