IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

@Tyo's EU3 idea: Awesome :goodjob:. I'd like to take this opportunity to place dibs on Brandenburg.

Farsight. You sound like a giant fan of Stirling. ;)

Persia is unexplored? All the same I think a EUPee IOT would be cool, I call dibs on Worms.

Well, ISOT is actually a well-established term in Alternate History jargon: I've only started reading the Peshawar Lancers, and even then, I just went straight to the appendix.

I'm really thinking of changing the expansion rules so that there is a set number of provinces you can expand into. My rationale is that it would be more fair (since everyone only expands into a set amount of territory, regardless of size), and theoretically, GMing would be easier, since everyone in theory should only have incomes that are multiples of n. In addition, you can claim any territory that is either your present territory or one of your current claims.

However, I'm worried that this might bore people who are used to expanding with armies or EP.

I know. Now can you please suggest why I should use XP over EP, or vice versa?

Why not switch from XP to EP on turn 5 or so? Or make it something you have to research?

Why not have XP gradually increase every[other?] turn?

My main incentive for using XP is that I'm rather inexperienced at GM duty, and I feel that XP would be easier to keep track of.

Just leaving this here for those who don't have the Dev thread subscribed.

EUIOT

I want to have classic European wars where no one really loses (except for the smelly peasants of course), but every time I try doing that, really bad stuff tends to happen. What normally happens in IOTs is I'll just be doing my own thing, and either get ridiculously powerful, gangbanged, or not go to war ever. Or people will force my hand for the whole damn game and I either kill a bunch of people, or the game kind of just ends.

SOMEONE FIX THIS

I AM

I feel out of place because everyone else does heaps of RP, and it seems like a lot of people in them are out to conquer the world as well.

My view of NES is it is a bit like an IOT except it removes all strategy in favour of writing as long an order as possible.

No, not everyone. In fact, in most NESes only about 5 or so people seriously RP a lot, and if you would wait another month or so, mine will be starting up... :mischief:
