An Announcement to the Reichstag
Herr Sprecher, the Centrist Party of Germany, in light of the disappointing failure to win all seats in the Reichstag in the last election, would like to clarify its position.
Herr Sprecher, the Centrist Party of Germany believes in the brotherhood of all German people. We are consequently ever on the lookout for avenues to aid and cooperate with our southern brothers, the Austrians. We pledge that a Centrist government will stand by Vienna through thick and thin, without question. This is how families work - the friends of my brother are my friends, and so his enemies are my enemies. We know the Austrian people feel the same way.
Herr Sprecher, according to the laws of the first Reich, that of the Holy Roman Empire of the German People, the official religion of every province was left to the discretion of the ruler of that province. In that light, the Centrist Party of Germany feels it is both right and just to support a freedom of religion for each province of this second Reich.
Herr Sprecher, the German people have ever been the greatest nation in Europe. Historic defeats, particularly at the hands of Richelieu and again of Napoleon, have robbed us of our greatness. We Centrists aim to retake our ancient birthright, and reestablish German dominance over the Continent. We know that the other powers of Europe do not mean to idly stand by as they lose what they have stolen, thus we Centrists understand that for Germany to take her place on the throne of Europe, force will be required.
Lastly, Herr Sprecher, Germany must have a means of exercising its vital powers, and that means, whatever shape it may take, will be produced through German industry. Let it be known to all the industrialists of Europe that Germany is a friendly host and ready customer. The Centrist Party of Germany will take every means it can to encourage the growth of German industry, for German industry will carry us to our destiny now made manifest.

People of Italy. I welcome you. To this, a new era. I realize we do not agree right now. This is something I seek to rectify. No matter what happens, the Italian people must unite. We are brethren in blood and arms alike, and we must fight as one if we are to succeed. Whatever our course may be, together, we will chart our own path through the stars.
Once upon a time, Italy was the seat of a great empire. The greatest in all of time, for not only did we conquer vast territories of land, but we ruled wisely. We did not dictate with an iron fist, but with an open hand. Like a family, the nations of Europe rose out of our body to greatness, greatness in no small part attributed to the Romans, to our ancestors.
Yet, our own petty squabbling destroyed us. For while the children of England, France, Spain and others rose to greatness, Italy proper dis not fare so well. Perhaps the rich Venetians could have risen above, of the resourceful Tuscans. The valiant men of Naples to the south, or perhaps Rome itself. Much to my regret and disgrace, none managed to come together. They fell to their siblings and cousins in other countries, the seat of Ancient Rome itself was stormed.
I pledge, solemnly and straightforward, to not let this happen again. If Italy's sovereignty is to be respected, we must once again prove out mettle. Me must expand, and rebuild our birthright from scratch. Many of you in the south may hear this a piece of good news. I hope that is so.
And while some of my own comrades from Tuscany may oppose me on this, I wish to relay a message to them. Peace. Peace is good. It is healthy, wealthy, and much more. I do not think it is an option. It...pains me. To say this. But we cannot sit and wait while others grow in strength and power. If the choice is between aggression, or subjugation, I choose aggression. As did our ancestors. When Rome was threatened, it did not curl up into a ball, but attacked the threat directly. This same principle will guide me.
A number of you may wish to hear my thoughts of foreign powers. France, Austria, and Turkey in particular. Many people in different parts of the country are demanding we invade them. I say now, we cannot. While I will not allow any of these nations to interfere with our nation or its interests, they do not have to be enemies. IT is well documented that Austria and Venice were once enemies. Yet, it was not always so. The Austrians and Venetians once fought, and died together. Lepanto, a great battle against the invading Turks of the time. Enemies turned ally. Comrades in arms against a common foe. Our allegiances will take a similar path. While I have no doubt war will come against at least one of these countries, why should we alienate those who could aid us. My final word? Patience. We will know soon enough who would cooperate with us, and who would conquer us.

People of Germany, I Otto Von Ludviht, Chancelor of the German Empire and leader of the Social Democrats would like to say the dangers that lie in the Centrist policies and the policies of my Party.
First, this is a very wrong policy. And one that could destroy the Empire. The Centrists believe in aggression against our neighbors. They say that they want Germany to take over all of Europe.
But this will prove disastrous for the Reich. Because Germany has not the power to fight against all powers of Europe. And if Germany is over-aggressive, then Russia, France and the British, and maybe more nations, will unite against us.
Do you, German people, think that the major powers of Europe will allow Germany to invade France or Russia or an other major power, without uniting against us? And do you think that if we invade a major European power, no one will help them? Do you think that we have the power to fight all of Europe alone?
The policy proposed by the Centrists will lead to the isolation and destruction of Germany. If the Centrists take power and decide to implement this policy, the defeat of Germany shall be total.
We, of the Social Democrats, support an expansion of Germany into Belgium and Sweden, both Germanic lands, and a balance of power in Europe.
We support a realistic policy. We shall help the Austrians as long as they consult us about any major actions in their foreign policy and as long as they do not start a war with a major power of Europe. Austria is an ally of Germany, but, as we must help them, they must try to follow a policy of peace in Europe, and mainly in the Balkans. Germany shall not go at war with a major power block of Europe because of Austrian expansion in Balkans that might annoy Russia and it's allies. However, if Austria is forced into a war or is invaded, Germany shall help Austria.
The Social Democrats also support a strong industry. The Industry of Germany must support the expansion of the German Army and Navy. A strong industry is the key to German success. Without strong industry, Germany will not be able to survive.
We also support a balance between the navy and the army. A strong navy, without an equally strong army, will not be able to help Germany in case of war. A strong army, without a strong navy, will limit the operation of our army and, in case of war with a naval power, it could prove to be disastrous.
I hope that the German people will not be fooled with promises of greatness and think that domination in Europe is easy. Over-expansion and rhetoric of hatred against our neighbors could cause the whole of Europe to unite against Germany. We must follow a realistic policy instead of thinking that Mr. Ernst von Hinten is a wizard and will suddenly give us all of Europe. Follow your logic.

Herr Sprecher, I can think of no surer way to cause the death of the Empire than through passivity. Yes, it is moronic to fight a war on two fronts. It is monumentally so to fight a war on five. The Centrists, being the party of rationalism, intelligence, and reason, do not advocate this policy. We support, rather, calculation and diplomacy. Firstly we support the reintegration of all defenceless countries within range of German protection, including Denmark, Holland (both of whom are mysteriously absent from the plans of the Social Democrats), and, yes, Belgium and potentially Sweden.
Herr Sprecher, my - ah - esteemed colleague has not made mention of any nation who IS capable of self-defence, except to parrot Centrist policy on Austria and openly antagonize Russia. Yes, it is conceivable that we should find ourselves at war with Russia, just as it is conceivable that we should find ourselves at war with any power in Europe. Far from being a man of peace, the Chancellor wishes to provoke the largest of our neighbours. To me, this shows that his aides have woefully misled him to the point of insanity. The Centrists do not advocate war with Russia, unless Russia should desire war with Germans.
On our industrial policy, I again find the Social Democrats parroting Centrist policy. This extravagant imitation of the opposition seen again and again tells me they are only vaguely capable of independent thought - they did manage to come up with their own name, after all - and suggests the Social Democrats are not fit to govern Germany.
Thus I ask the people, Herr Sprecher, I ask the people what they see in the Social Democrats. I myself see that I could not more easily find or running about a barnyard with its head cut off.

It is true that one-third of the Centrist powerbase rejects our industrialist policy. Assuming it to be the only consideration of Prussians is wildly inaccurate. Likewise the Industrial provinces have concerns other than Industrialization. The Centrists have always supported industry; any indication that we support an anti-Industrial policy speaks to the power of Centrist philosophy to provide solutions for all Germans. In fact, the evidence at hand finds the Centrists advocating Industrialism before anyone else.
I ask you, Herr Sprecher, to remember this statement not three days old:
