Palestinian security officers arrested at least five Iranian citizens during a raid at the Islamic University, a Hamas stronghold in Gaza City, a security official said. One of the Iranians committed suicide during the raid. Six to nine Palestinians were killed in the raid, sources said.

Early Friday morning the violence spread to the West Bank, when two Hamas operatives were kidnapped in Ramallah by members of Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, witnesses said.

The raid on the Hamas-linked university in Gaza was carried out by national security forces affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Hundreds of weapons and a lathe for the production of Qassam rockets were seized in the raid.

A Hamas official denied the claim and said there were no Iranian citizens at the university.

The security official also said that during the raid a Hamas commander believed to have orchestrated the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier near the Gaza Strip in June last year suffered serious-to-moderate wounds.

Ahmad Jaabri is believed to have planned the cross-border raid carried out by gunmen of Hamas and two other Palestinian groups on June 12 during which Corp. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped.

The security forces also took control of Hamas-controlled government offices.

Twelve people died and over 70 were injured Thursday in exchanges of fire between Hamas and Fatah gunmen.

Hundred of security officers stormed the university, eyewitnesses said, and set fire to one of its building.

Hamas gunmen fired a rocket at the Gaza City office of Abbas, who was in Ramallah at the time.

Earlier Thursday, Hamas gunmen ambushed a Presidential Guards convoy, seizing weapons and explosives transferred by the United States and Arab countries to Abbas. Fatah denied the claim, saying that two boxes seized by Hamas contained medicines.

The raid came at the end of a day of clashes that collapsed a three-day truce between the warring factions. Iran has supplied Hamas with funds, but there have been no previous claims of Iranians working with Hamas in Gaza.

NOW do you believe the Iranians are actively trying to harm Israel?

We already knew that. After all Hezbollah wouldn't be very strong if it wearn't for the Syrians and Iranians

My Israeli friend, you could post authentic Iranian Plans to bomb Israel and the liberals still wont believe you.

Liberals would probably side with Iran.

Thanks for your troll post criticizing those who are objectively view the conflict in the Middle East instead of giving blind backing to a questionably legal government which has had expansionist ambitions. While the more sane wing refuses to regard Israel as an ally, how does that relate to support of a totalitarian religious conservative government in Iran?

While I do not condone Iranian involvement in Palestine, Gaza is not part of Israel.

I see nothing here. Iranian "agents" captured in Palestinian area doesn't mean they are there to harm Israel. Though it would not bother me if they would, Israeli oppression should be resisted.

I dont understand what it shows. Only inability of Palestinian security forces when these news are published.

Palestinian forces nab Iranian agents? Well it is nice to see the Palestinian forces inforcing some kind of centralised authority.

Social conservatism, mmkay?

Stalin's regime was socially conservative, too. That doesn't make his views similar to rmsharpe's.

How do we know that these were agents sent by a governmental branch of Iran? Finding individual Iranians means very little (on a national level); American forces captured a Canadian terrorist in Afghanistan, but this doesn't mean that Canada is against the US or pro-Taliban.

I'm not surprised there are sympathetic and pro-active Iranians in Gaza, and I'm not opposed to the theory that there's a conspiricy in the Iranian government to supply agents. However, I do need better proof.

ahhh beat me to. what he said

Ohh, I fully believe that Iran will do everything they can to push out US/UK/western influence/power. (right or wrong, it's just in Iran's national interest to do)

Oh I would believe it I just wouldn't care. I'm anti-Iranian but the Israelis are no angels and we are the fools who gave the Iranians the upper hand by destroying their arch enemy, destabilizing the region and pre-occupying our forces. Its the conservatives who have reduced our resources and credibility to deal with Iran and North Korea. So now we are just going to have to shut up and deal with the consequences. If the Israelis want to live a nice life they can always move to the states. They own American anyways, haven't you heard?
