Iron and Blood - Game Thread

To: Spain
From: Afghanistan

Spain unlawfully seized Maghreb from the United Kingdom. Very few nations, if any, nations recognize Spanish Maghreb.

France continues to maintain a stance of neutrality towards the Spanish-Anglo war.

Why? Maghreb makes a whole lot more sense for Spain than it does for Britain.

I'm not arguing "why". I'm just arguing why Spain is receiving very little international support. Britain has more allies and Spain thought the war would be quick and easy.

The CSA contiued it expansion Northward. Many small farmers who had not made it as large plantation owners began to move into the Ohio River Valley and then even further north. Many of the farmers brought a slave or two with them to help work their farms, and slavery was slowly reintroduced to the region, but the people already living there didn't mind because the new settlers were helping improve the economy of the Great Lakes region. The city of Chicago had fallen into dispair after the USA fell apart, and the increase in agricultural activity around it brought new life to the city. Seeing that the CSA was helping the rest of the region so much, the city-state of Chigago sent a formal application for admitance into the Confederacy, which was accepted.
In the heartland of Dixie, more and more people from New England started trying to copy the factories of their homeland in the South. It was becoming a more and more industrial are, but it was unsure how the plantation owners would react to the possible threat to the plantation based lifestyle.

I was accused of spamming up the group ... now the thread is getting the same ... which is far worse.

e.g. Little one line comments, and responding to other one-liners, etc.

Can we cease this and use the groups and VM and PMs please from now on. Even if a player just posts a one-liner in the thread, send the player a PM directly.

Some Guidelines
If a player has a question for one player send a PM
If a player has a question for up to 5 players send a PM to players
If a player has a question for more than 5 or others may be interested in start a new thread in the group(s)
If a player has a question for the GM send him a PM

Please keep the thread to

3. The Game Thread is not a chat room. If a conversation is only relevant to a few players, then discuss it with those players themselves. Use Social Groups or visitor/private messaging to discuss diplomatic issues. Don’t spam.

The main thread should be reserved for

1) GM Updates or any rule clarifications (which he can add to the the first few OPs he has made.
2) Player Nation Actions in RED
3) Player Nation Commentary and history building

This would keep the thread tidier and make it more interesting to read.

People who fails to do this will be punished with strange and unpredictable events and I'll eventually dissolve your nation if you keep it up.

Incumbent and Liberal John Carter easily swept the vote in the four states of newly annexed Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Brunei, Banda) , which officially became the 8th through 11th states in 1839. Carter also won the vote in Adelaide, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. Freedom Party candidate Daniel McFarland narrowly won the vote over Carter and Nationalist Party candidate James Fletcher in Perth, while Fletcher was able to win the vote in Outback and Tasmania. The final electoral vote was:

John Carter (Liberal Democratic): 76
James Fletcher (Nationalist): 7
Daniel McFarland (Freedom): 6
All other candidates: 0

Carter was elected to a second term as President. His first term was extremely successful, having resulted in the annexation of Indonesia in 1837-1839, the Slave Trade Prohibition Act of 1838 that made it illegal for Australian nationals to trade slaves abroad, and the construction of the Revolutionary Monument in Brisbane in 1839.

As Carter entered his office on the day after his second inaguration, there was a letter there from the Alice Springs county surveyor. At the edge of a ranch 7 miles from the farm town of Alice Springs, two surveyors had found a deposit of shiny gold. This would get interesting...
