The local tavern was hardly the place to be up to date on Russia’s most current political news, but a five minute discussion with some of the regulars could convince an unwary traveller otherwise. Within The Czar’s Arms, accessible only via a quiet alley in deepest Moscow, conversations ranged from the state of the nations military, to the sweeping reclaiming of former Russian lands, to the effect of the economy on drink prices. And rarely did the conversations agree with another.

For one, the Kan was apparently ready to launch an assault into Europe in the wake of the recent wars. No! He was just a pawn of the Baltic Alliance, ready to do their bidding. Actually it was the leaders of Germany and the SRO who had bowed before the Kan just last month. Or was it like one gentleman claimed (after his tongue had been loosened by a few ales) and the Baltic Alliance was nothing more than a front, to quell the fears of nations overseas worried by the more militant members of Europe.

The Ukraine had fallen! No! It had accepted ruler-ship from St. Petersburg peacefully, willingly even! But then what about what that trader from Kiev had been saying just last night? After a celebrated royal marriage, the King of the Ukraine had dropped dead after a year? Awfully convenient for the Kan to just step in, was it not? But such talk would end quickly - no one questions the motives of the Kan.

But then…what about that nobleman who had travelled to Europe recently, returning with news of advanced German weaponry and French naval power. No! He had spoken about how Russian dominance was greater than either! But then, why were new factories being constructed in the Ukraine if Russia was already greater than all other nations? Why was the Kan demanding more recruits for the army, when there was no talk of a Russian navy?

Inevitably, such discussions dissolved into something more aggressive, and the debaters had to be thrown outside. In such an event, no solid conclusions could be found, and the state of Russia could only be known by her leaders…

News of Hawaii's sudden decree making them a British Colony caused quite a shock when it reached North America. Many in Librulstan and elsewhere in the Americas are outraged at the thought of a European Imperialist Power controlling the important Central Pacific islands. President David Johnson has issued a statement voicing his disapproval of British ownership of Hawaii.

British COLONY? NO! It shall be an equal part of our nation, as will all other territories we incorporate. And stop calling us IMPERIALIST! Go read the definition of the word. It does not apply to britain. In fact I would only give the word to Spain, Rome, Japan, and possibly Australia, depending on how they treat all of these claims of theirs.

Maybe you guys should have said something in the group when arya was discussing getting Hawaii, which isn't part of America.

Hawaii is in OCEANIA.

The UNA has no business in deciding who controls Hawaii. You had not objected to it when I had claimed it earlier this turn, and it has nothing to do with you anyway. Hawaii is rightfully british as their former king has issued a writ of succession proclaiming I am the rightful heir.

Is the proper and full context of the definitions, not including:

the creation and maintenance of an unequal economic, cultural, and territorial relationship, usually between states and often in the form of an empire, based on domination and subordination.

Which is the definition from the Dictionary of Human geography which i think is most clear and is closest in context in which you are accusing me of.

By these definitions, any and every country in the game except for ones that have limited themselves to a single territory can be considered Imperialist. please stop flinging the word around, as it can simply mean one country is controlling territory that is not theirs, which doesnt have to be bad.

To be honest, this actually isn't imperialism because Hawaii's leader wanted this to be so. Imperialism would have been if he took it by force or economic domination. I'm not saying that's bad, because that's just about the only way to expand in this game. Heck, Teck, you're expanding into Mexico. I really don't approve of excessive imperialism, like Britain and France tried earlier, and Japan and Rome are trying now.

Spain hopes that with aquisition of Hawaii britan will drop all claims to Portugal.

The UNA nominates California as the rightful owner of the islands of Hawaii.

... which had been already claimed by not one, but two other nations.

For the last time, I'm Siam. The gold guys in southeast Asia.

Xian and Han have both agreed that Manchuria is Chinese, as have numerous other countries and common sense. You don't even hold it.

Manchuria is not Japanese. Japan is Japanese. Korea is Japanese, but only because you hold it (culture is still Korean). This would extend to Indochina, because when I get it, the culture will be Vietnamese, not Siamese, unless it is held for at least 50 years.
