Depends what you feel about her.. Is it a coupon girl or do you like her enough to not take such chances with her? If it's casual and your attractive enough she'll probably disregard it, but it'll never be to your benefit.

I don't know what's it like in the US, We don't use cuopons much in here. If I wanted to get a 2nd date with a girl, I'd rather pay in full, for the reasons stated earlier (Shows you can provide to her and your offspring, you wouldn't come as cheap, etc.) Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't do it, unless I really know the girl. Then again, if your date cares a lot about how you pay, then she probably isn't worth the trouble.

Well, I study with a bunch of Christians and that doesn't really grant me deeper insight into their churchgoing habits..

Then perhaps you should talk with them more.

Its a date. If your're one to spend smart and use something like a groupon then do it. If the girl thinks your're cheap get rid of her and get another that likes you for who you are, not for how much money you have or how you spend it.

Bottom line, if the chemistry is right, using or not using a coupon isnt going to matter.

I work with a lot of people in their 40s and they tend to be really bad at recognizing or keeping up with social trends.

Yeah, but thats not me. BAM!

I just want women to have sex with me, I specifically want them to think I can't provide for their offspring, to encourage them to use effective birth control.

I'd take frugality over tradition in a date. I like seeing people who take the initiative in cutting costs.

Hypothetically, of course.

Agreed. If I'm going to be dumped by someone over a coupon, then I'd rather not go out with that person.[/QUOTE]

Talking more about it isn't going to make me understand their habits any more than you talking to 20-somethings is going to make you understand the spending habits of the modern youth.

Not sure why 'understanding' is part of this as opposed to just knowledge of what they do. I dont have to understand the why of the young people that work with me as its enough to know they do it.

Do the young people that I work with use groupon on dates? Sure they do. Do I need to know why they do it? Not really necessary for the purposes of this discussion.

Like I said earlier, just be yourself, use a coupon if you want to. If the girl doesnt like it big deal; find another girl that isnt such a drama queen.

I've been in a similar situation - the thing is the coupon was given to us by her mom when I went to pick her up. I used it, I didn't want to decline it and seem rude but man did I feel really damn cheap.

I've been out of the US for too long, I've never even heard of groupons.

Groupon and social living are two competing online coupon services. Basically opting in to either service will send you email alerts with various coupon offers on a daily basis. And the coupons are for just about anything you can imagine, from weekend get aways to a bed and breakfast, to 1 hour massage, do dance lessons, to restaurants.

I gave my wife one for some pole dancing lessons once. :D

First I saw of them was their advertisements during the Superbowl. The groupon on had a guy (Timothy Hutton I think) eating at a Tibetian restaurant, and the social living one had this large guy going thru some, ah, lifestyle changes, due to his experiences in using living social coupons. Heh, very funny.

You can just google for them on the web, sign up for coupons wherever you live and voila, you'll start getting coupons immediately.

I would only use a coupon to a place she'd like, not out of convenience (as in, I have a coupon, therefore I will use it.) If she kvetches, game over for her.

Did you get coupons for the pole as well?
