Internet arguments!
How often do you argue about religion with your friends and coworkers? How often do we have religion threads? The atheist presence isn't going to be noticed until it's mentioned, so chances are that even if most of the people you talk to day-to-day are theist/atheist, you just won't know. Here you know. There could be
fewer atheists here (proportionally) than in your town, you just haven't noticed.
People who argue on the internet aren't the types of folks to shut up and accept what they're told. There is some level of shut up and accept what you're told in some religions. Folks who tend to challenge authority overlap with folks who like to make a big stink about things in the tubes. (Ya ya I know not all of you shut up and accept what you're told. Some of your church buddies do though.)
And rather importantly IMO, we've got a large segment of angry teenage nerdy guys. The most belligerent, vocal atheists come from that demographic. You'll get guys (I'd love to cite a few, mods probably would frown on that, but if you think about OT's population you'll surely see exactly what I'm talking about) that are here on a mission, they're the first person to ever figure out that religion is a sham and they're here to spread the news, to berate you for not seeing the blindingly obvious that they've so generously revealed to the world. Their talking points stoke flames and drag down the quality of the discussion. As though they're finally going to be The One to elicit proof of divinity, or to sway believers.
Well most of the Theists here generally keep quiet, except on a few occasions, since most of the talk by the Atheists here would raise a lot of

in many of the hard hitting Christian forums. Many of us just prefer to talk about the game rather than our beliefs, which is a shame, since we do need to be as vocal as the Atheists on this board. So to speak, get the message out.
Why would the atheists be posting in hard hitting Christian forums?
If you'd prefer to talk about the game why are you posting in OT?
You can see that I am the first Theist to speak on here after 25 posts, (at time of writing, just in case it changes during all this typing), which is often what happens when religion gets discussed, plus many people also recognise that it is hard to talk to some of the ardent Atheists, since they often more fanatical about their unbelief than most Theists are about their belief.
It is hard to talk to some of the ardent theists since they're often more fanatical about their belief than most atheists are about their unbelief. Of course the ardent segment is going to be more fanatical.
The whole thing is a two-way street. Your other post (The main problem is often that many of the objections that ar raised against religion...) demonstrates the exact same thing: turn the tables and it's just as correct.
Interesting, and wow, seriously,
France takes the cake for being the most non-spiritual country out there! No wonder Americans hate the French so much
Atheist Americans hate France too.
