Yes, that was the idea. However our goal would be that every nation in the Mediterranean would be part of the League, the wording is there only so that rogue nations refusing to drop their alliance with Carthage will not get their share of the trading. All nations declaring themselves neutral in the problems of Mediterranean are more than welcome to join the League, and soon we expect that to include all the nations.

The idea of this League is not to bring the trade to Dacoillyria but to spread the growing wealth to ALL Mediterranean nations (in controversion to Carthage's old ways, in which they had a trading hegemony). This league will make us all rich, we are not creating this for our own benefit but for the benefit of us all.

OCC: The days of the week are named after norse gods, but do we still worship them? Its just a name and a pretty poetic image.

IC: We are not atheist, but we do not worship, Sang teaches us to be non-theistic (read the bit on Buddhism and replace all the mentions of Buddhism with Sangism ). The teachings are purely ethical and meditative guidelines based on the truths of psychological suffering due to impermanence.

Article 2 in the Trading League charter in page 34 has been changed so that friendly non-Mediterranean nations will not get dropped out from Mediterranean trading. I'm glad people pointed out those flaws in the Charter to me so it will become fair to all friendly nations, thank you.

If a nation is supposedly neutral in the affairs of the Mediterranean, why is it required to take a stance which is favoritist toward the League in order to trade with it? That is the very definition of hypocrisy. The wording appears to us simply a concealed threat: trade with us or do not trade at all. Even if this constitutes the bulk of the Mediterranean (with the exclusion of Carthage) why should terms on commerce for nations which are uninvolved be dictated by the League? And what precisely does the League intend to do should a nation retain true neutrality in picking its clientel in the region?

As it currently stands we are opposed to this organization on principle alone. We are not interesting in being blackmailed into trading with a particular group or not trading at all, and we demand an explanation for what appears a document explicitly designed to control trade rather than regulate it.

We are not forcing anyone to do anything, you are simply going to notice that trading with League nations will be more beneficial to you than trading with rogue nations. I'm sure that as rational beings, true neutrality will bring your trading to where the money is. And when rogue nations get blocked out, they won't have anything to trade with you. Tell me, how long will your merchants be happy spending a lot of futile time in the markets of the rogues, when everyone else is where the money is? Besides like said soon there won't be rogue nations around the Mediterranean, we are sure of that.

EDIT: To add to this, we are not trying to control your trading, we are simply trying to ensure that non-friendly Mediterranean nations will not get their hands meddling with the economic developement of the Mediterranean. We don't understand what the hazzle now is about as this money is away from the Rogue nations of the Mediterranean, it is not away from you. We want to make the system as friendly towards the neutral nations as possible.

Your economic theory as presented is poor. You are assuming that the potentiality of the limited number of members of the League will be as great as the sum of the entire Mediterranean. This is clearly impossible as the League is smaller than the Mediterranean, if only fractionally. In short, the number of markets will be smaller, and thus so will trade. It is a smaller order system. Furthermore, we might note, by cutting off “rogue nations,” (which is useless nomenclature as the League is clearly designed to cripple Carthage, as none of Carthage's "allies" (Nortugal only) are even in the Mediterranean) all you are doing is enabling anyone who does trade with them to possess a monopoly on that trade; a highly lucrative position. Carthage is not some backwater that will miraculously lose goods to trade if it is simply isolated.

Your attempts at portraying this as altruism are likewise poor. This League only makes sense on two conditions: one, that the League will actively move to prevent trade with these so-called "rogue nations," and two, that the League's ultimate objective is the destruction of Carthage precisely to remove a threat to its powerbase (which it is attempting to isolate with the creation of this League in order to limit its ability to resist ongoing military action). Lastly, the notion of spreading economic prosperity is ridiculous. Trade is at its very core an expression of competition, not cooperation. To propose spreading wealth equally is either foolishness or propaganda. This is simply a form of economic warfare designed to destroy an opponent, and to function as economic protectionism designed to put the economically weak nations of the Mediterranean in a superior position to foreign commercial powers in their own markets.

We are not children, and we did not arrive at our position as the greatest mercantile power in the world by believing blindly in promises and good intentions. If you want our support for this measure you will deal with us frankly and honestly, or not at all. As part of such a truthful policy, we demand to know exactly what it is we are signing on to, and as such we require an explanation as to the precise intentions of Dacoillyria and its allies regarding the restoration of the lands of Carthage to the international trade network following its defeat. Limitation of trade is abhorrent to us and we wish to know what is to be done to restore the areas of that nation and their resources to circulation with minimum possible disruption so we may adjust our investiture accordingly (OOC: in short, the postwar settlement). We will also require assurances of equality in trade rights and protection under the law for our merchantry vis-à-vis the local merchantry of League nations; we will be dealt with as equals in any and all trade agreements and in all commercial markets.

Should these two conditions be met we will consider support for this League rather more seriously.

The Emperor arrived in Barcelona shaken by the experience of witnessing his capital going up into smoke. This is anything proved to the Holy Punic Emperor that there could be no peace with the enemy until their ultimate surrender. He met on the docks with General Maharbal the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armies in Iberia. Together with the Council of War (the Foreign Advisor and the Chief Priestess of the Imperial Cult) he went to the city palace and began a rudimentary session to evaluate himself with the situation.

'Already Sicilia, Poenic, Corsica, the Baelerics, Malta have fallen. Dido and Italcart are under foreign control. Carthage as you know is destroyed by the Lucan barbarians. The situation calls for desperate meassures. We must not allow another shred of land be lost with it being able to be used. We must defend the Punic race against the genocidal maniacs that wish to tear us down!'

The Council murmured.

'May I speak my liege', The Head Priestess Sophonisba asked, the Emperor nodded, 'We must rouse the populace to fight off this invader. Never before has the Punic Empire been so threatned. We must defend what we hold and hope our allies will come to our aid. We must levy our population for the fight, and god forbid if it becomes unttenable we must evacuate our population to the new Carrib provinces.'

'Agreed' The Emperor spoke. 'We will fight every inch and never surrender and if we are to die, we shall continue the fight from the New World and look forward to the day of liberation.'

'Our soliders are ready to lay down their lives for the defense of the Emperor and the Punic race' General Marahabal spoke.

'I trust preperations are being undertaken Syphax?' The Emperor spoke to his Foreign Advisor.

The Emperor looked out from the window into the city. Indeed the Punic Empire was not finished yet!
