ITNES I - An Epoch of Change

To Nordrike
From Caledonia

Oh, hardly. You're much too far away for us to concern ourselves with you. Don't flatter yourself.

Too faraway? I just burnt down two cities....I'm right on your doorstep.

I obviously meant the update that followed the announcement. Duh.

That quote could have come from anywhere.

Too faraway? I just burnt down two cities....I'm right on your doorstep.

You misunderstand; I was responding to your comment that our alliance was a threat to you, saying that you were too far away from us for us to meddle in your affairs. Of course, since you have decided to meddle in ours, this changes things completely. Before you decided to sack my city without provocation, I didn't care at all what you did. You may as well have been a world away. That's what I was saying. So your assertion that our alliance threatened you in any way is both paranoid and self-important.

We propose a treaty with your nations, called the Peace of the Eastern Ocean. Promising to attempt work out all territorial disputes diplomatically and working toward the growth of trade and knowledge across the Eastern Ocean. So we may continue to surpass the backwards westerners of the Bimarine and continue to prevent warfare in Asia and in the New World.

If such a treaty is implemented, despite the current problems its facing , we believe it would be beneficial for Sri Dukunnugeya, with extensive trading interests and some few colonial ones in the Eastern Ocean, to be involved.

Let them know, we are here to finish this argument on right and wrong. They call themselves the sons of light, yet what light they brought to this world? Nothing but wars have been done with them and among them. No new ideas, no inventions, they are as useless as a dog is in a house of learning.

They call themselves light, and believe the fire ball called sun is a god. They call us dark. Fine than. We are the moon, and we shall teach them a lesson of good and bad, right and wrong. Fire is vanquished by water, and we, the people of the sea shall let them know this. Just like light can be easily shadowed, so will they.

We are the Nortuguese. They say only gods can battle gods, so that must make us the greatest gods of them all. We are our own gods. We believe in ourselves and in our mighty forces of truth. Soon the Solist will know the truth. No gods exist to guard them. No gods exist to stop us. And once the lesson will be over, all will be well once again. For years the Solists hated the Nortuguese only because their gods told them so. Well, we promise today, no god Solists will be left to hate us.

Their leaders control the small man with the power of a god. But there is no such power, and we are here to prove it. Soon the Solist power will fail and the truth will be known. Only knowledge will save us from anything else. We laugh at the gods. We are the sons of a dark past. And we shall show to the believers of light, that they are nothing different. No Sol will save them from our justice. And soon the hatred will be washed away.

Nortugal shall rise again.

ooc: god this "story" suck :p

God damnit. Update, thlayli!

Where is your nes? This really bugs me. Its just not you Panda but everyone else that asks for updates and doesnt have a nes themselves. Do you have any idea on HOW MUCH WORK an update takes.

I for one would like Thlayli to take his time, so when the update does come it actually has some substance. And for those people that dont have neses of their own to mod, but continuously bug the mods to where the updates are, get off your fat butts and actually make a nes so we can enjoy it. Then see how you feel when people bug you IN OTHER THREADS WHERE YOU ARE TRYING TO PLAY A NES, about where your update is.

Once again this is not just levelled at Panda, but there a few of you that this will apply too, and you know who you all are.

That said, Thlayli, from my own experience I can tell that updates generally go faster when you gather your willpower and abstain from viewing NES threads whilst updating.

Dacoillyria had joined the embargo as well after some hesitation - and that, unlike the Solist action, had immediately struck the Nortuguese commerce hard (-1 Trade).

to Dacia:
We found out something rather, disturbing. End this embargo at once.

Your controll over the past-Olmec lands in Olmeci is unright. We were the ones to bring down their empire, we should be the ones to gain such important lands. Surrender your Olmeci lands to us else.

To: Nortugal
From: Face-of-the-Sun, Ruler of Huancac

We appreciate your important communication with us over the Olmec lands, or I guess, more to the point, what were the Olmec lands for they are now possessed by others. It appears, though, that what you believe about the demise of Olmecia is incorrect. A foreign power called "Carthage" made first contact with our neighbors to the north and the disease and weaponry of their invasion brought the Olmecs to their knees. At that point civil disorder and rebellion tore the land asunder from within as nations such as yourself claimed the bones.

Even today Olmecia is much divided, with the greater part of what you claim as your right, held by the people from far Asia. the Huancac, like Nortugal, stepped in to claim a piece of that ancient empire and by skillful maneuver took possession of the isthmus that you now want. If you are rightful heir to the Olmecs, then the gods will grant you all the lands of their old empire. When Nortugal has taken all those lands that lie to the north of our joint border that once bowed to Olmec lords, bring us such news and we will grant you lands of the isthmus so you may face the Carib Sea on the east and Ocean of the Sun on the west.

In the interim, as you conquer to our north, we will not interfere or disturb your wars, but would engage in trade and peaceful dialogue.

Will you reply?

oh, yeah fine. No problem... Do note that we don't like it, but we will be Ok with it.

Thank you!

With regard to the newly forming Mediterranean Trade League, we wish to propose that a small detatchment from the navies of member nations be assigned to large merchantmen convoys in order to protect them from piracy and foreign attack.

Since the growth of rogue nations such as Nortugal and Phoenicia can impede the progress of trade and prosperity, it would be wise to help safeguard our foreign commerce. As soon as the Gaelic navy has been rebuilt, we would be glad to assist in this project.

@das: I know. I'm really working on it in earnest now.

IC:

Surely to guard convoys against Nortuguese predations you will be sending defensive squadrons into the atlantic, and to defend against Phoenician presences would require you range across the world...hardly the place for Mediterranean Trade League actions. Indeed this seems quite against the stated aims and spirit of the league, and measures oddly with assurences give to eastern powers by Dacoillyria when the league was first engendered...

The Mediterranean trading league is not a military organisation - required actions to protect mediterranean trading routes can be done in co-operation between the member states. Forming independent military unit under command of the trading league is not neccessary and would be utter waste of valuable resources.
