Because she is just another person, and having a bad view shouldn't end your entire career.
I don't even care about her as a writer, just find this situation sad.
Nothing about her opinions are ending her career. Why is that the problem here, instead of the bad views?

I guess I see this more as a celebrity issue and feel that she self-destructed.
I don't know anything about her - never read her books either - but I suppose she is less of a creep than celebrities like Dawkins, so she won't avoid being ended for this opinion sharing.
Anyway, I guess I focus on that because I view her as another person and don't see her views as important, while the attack is now on her. Obviously TG people have an uphill battle, while Rowling is a celeb with tons of money and prestige. That said, to me the one attacked now is her, cause I personally don't care about what she thinks on anything.

You are not asked to pass judgement on her. You are asked to pass judgement on her opinion, and "I don't agree with her" is avoiding the question.

My judgement is that I don't agree with it. Do I have to scream, to pass your test? :shake:
But that's not judgement. That's deflection. All you need to do is be explicit.

She’s a billionaire. Her publisher and Warner Brothers have backed her up. She will be fine. You do not need to show her such compassion.

Even if she was facing more significant consequences, the backlash against her is entirely of her own making for holding and publicly airing bigoted opinions that will significantly harm transpeople. It would be entirely deserved considering the harm that her words will and have already caused.

Writers are one of those people who need public acceptance and goodwill to have a career. Its not that publishers are dumping her, although I’m sure this may also happen, but that the people are refusing to buy her products as a response.

Surely you agree that it would be unjust to force people to continue supporting her career through making purchases.

I would agree. I also think though that one shouldn't feel obligated to not explore or enjoy a particular creative work or body of work, simply because its creator is a bad person or holds bad views. For example, I think we can all agree Harvey Weinstein is an absolute trash can of a human being, but his production company is responsible for some of the most beloved films. Should we stop enjoying those films just because they were bankrolled by a monster? That's a decision that I think each individual needs to make for themselves.

She has hundreds of millions of dollars and multiple book, movie, and Broadway deals.

I agree. Otherwise it sounds too much like "Shut up & dribble."

Wait, for you're not happy just to attack the one who produced the opinion you dislike. You also demand that everyone else join in the attack. And perhaps self-flagellate while at it? This is the modern inquisition, in spirit though fortunately not in mans.

No one has any obligation to care about what she said. She committed no crime and even if she had only the state is obliged to look at it and decide whether to prosecute. You can't go around demanding that people join your crusades. That's politically insane. That's pushing people back rather than drawing them.

Demanding respect? Political insanity.

Actually, demanding anything is rather ridiculous. Unless you are on twitch and have simps :)

Is demanding basic human rights "rather ridiculous"?

Kyriakos, people are frustrated with you because you are showing more sympathy to a bigoted bully than her victims. I don't understand why you fail to get that.

It isn't sympathy, just automatic empathy. I don't care about her or her work. The empathy is automatic just cause she is the specific person here (or, if you will, the specific one under attack on the web). Her view is dumb, which should be the end of it.

You realize she hasn't exactly been turned out on the street, yeah? She's doing just fine. She's airing hate and people don't like hearing about it, so they tell her as much and tune her out, which some people apparently think is oppression, but she's still doing well.

I'm not asking that he join any crusades or that he care for JKR or her opinions. I'm asking whether he thinks her opinion is bad or not. If I insist it's only because he insists in not responding.
