Yeah, but we have a few members with multiple computers at their bec and call ;)

I hope our membership levels will continue to grow, certainly with the start of a new thread we got a big increase.

Start some more then ;) is there anyway for TF to make an announcement might increase membership some more.

Or if nothing else, allowing a thread in the Civ4 section of the forum...

Well, it has absolutely nothing to do with Civilization IV, so I'd say that probably won't fly. However, a single day blurb on the homepage news section wouldn't hurt. :)

i started, and was subsequently berated for starting threads in other parts of the forum... :(

But i admit it has no relevance to the cIV part of the forum.

TF responded to a PM of mine that he may join at some point.. I PM'd all the Mods, only one replied directly, but i think a few can now be seen within the team sheet.

Next move i feel is really getting TF involved.. getting him on our team, and issuing some blurb.

And Democratic Underground has passed us...

Hmmm... I wonder if I can scrape up any more machines to set folding... :borg:

You've probably got one that counts steps rather than frames. What project is it? It should say in unit info.txt when you find out the project then you can look it up in the list of current projects and find out how many frames it is and how many points it's worth. I had one that counted to a ridiculously big number, but took less time and was worth less than one of the 400 frame Tinker units.

ah right then i guess i dont have mine set up as work units as i have completed more than 5 of the things it is showing

A work unit is a tiny time frame for a possible way a protein can fold (as I understand it), I'm not sure how tiny but we're probably talking nanoseconds or picoseconds.

There's also the meaning of "job downloaded to a PC" which is where we get a work unit completed every few days, and they're worth anywhere between ~20 and ~600 points each.

How is that different? If the protein folding calculations are divided into tiny timeframes and each such division is labeled a work unit, then once that is completed and uploaded a given amount of points are rewarded..

the point system is a complete mystery to me... working on my flatmates(who never have even play Civ! shock! i know!) to get it on their comps for our team.

I realized, that, theoretically, i could put the uni computer to work, too. I can connect to a "SUNW,UltraAX-i2" running Solaris. Now the question is, can i run the linux client on a SPARC architecture? If so, how would i go on about it? Is it even possible, if i don't have admin rights (which i don't)?

Edit: Searched the F@H forums and it looks like the software is not SUN compatible. Too bad. :(

If you're saying that a work unit is measured in nanoseconds of work, then I'd think that we're talking about different things.
