[LP] Julius Caesar: First Look

So weird not having Sarah narrate the First Looks.

A bit odd that unlike with previous alt leader first looks, they detailed a bit more in depth about the abilities we already know. If we compare, say, Chadragupta's first look where they basically just said "Yes, he has varu, stepwell and the civbonus, however this is his leader bonus."

And given that there's no confirmation of the Wildcard Policy Slot, maybe the Wildcard thing is wrong... and I just gave people unwarranted hope. :P

Oops.

Didn't we have those cases before, that the first look video and the website had different infos? What was the truth back then, anyone remember?
From top of my head I remember that in Netherlands first look, they talked about "identity" which was the old name for loyalty.

Given that the FL could be weeks old, or using old footage, I'd say it's the least credible.

Just checked and no, they use Loyalty.

They start getting 500 gold from conquering cities AND barb camps after researching steel, gives nice rewards for industrial era wars.

Made me actually think of how Italy started roleplaying Rome and started the Abyssinian wars in modern times.

His shoulder pads/armor are huge, and I think they throw off the first appearances of his character model, making him look massive rather than just fit.

Well if you were historically stabbed by all your allies you too would wear protection.. Live and Learn.

I hope that ability is kept in.
Sounds like a nod to incorporating other lands into their Republic and making them representatives, with the Roman Senate eventually becoming very large and powerful over time.

I like that ability a lot. I hope they did not remove that ability because they thought it was too OP (and just forgot to edit the description). Hopefully, that part is still in and they just forgot to mention it or wanted civfanatics to discover it on their own.

The added wildcard does encourage conquering a capital early in the game which works great for my preferred style of play when I am playing Rome. I like to rush to legions and try to conquer 1 enemy civ early and then I settle down and consolidate and build my empire. With the added gold, this should help Rome be well positioned for the mid game.

I wonder if it is better to spend the extra gold as you get it or wait and spend it all later. I guess it depends. There might be a case where saving it and spending a larger amount later would make sense.

Seowon used to grant 6 science in its FL video, but during the livestream, it was only 4 science.

For once, i like the extra wildcard slot a lot. It forces you to play Domination as usual, but doesn't force you to do it all the way, and adds an extra layer of versatility to an otherwise very unidimensional civ.
