KA01 - A Simple Deity Space Race

I thought F1 did that. If you want to account for scientists, I have no idea.

How are you figuring how many beakers per turn we are accumulating? Is this somthing civassist does?

Welcome back Mistfit.

CivAssist probably provides it, but it's giving me a runtime error if I try to use it on our 940 AD save. I was hoping to use it for the tech costs as you did. I just looked in F1 ad that shows the gpt being put into research. Then you have to count the scientists by looking in the F1 city list, or I guess CivAssist would do that for you.

I could play tonight if it's Ok with the team.

Edit: Oops Alan has it now. let me know when to take it. I'd love to do some pounding of the Zulu if needed.
If you need some therapy, be my guest. I have a lot of other stuff to do, so I haven't started yet, other than to look at it.

Having taken a look I was in two minds about what to do. We have several deals with the Zulus right now. We are not so gold-rich that we can lightly cancel the deals. They add up to over 70 gpt going on for up to 18 turns, and we are also supplying them with furs for another 7 turns. Are we ready to break deals yet? We are also weak wrt to both them and the Ottomans, so we might need to give the Ottomans something to ally with us against Zulus and avoid them joining the other side, but then we're stuck with a 20 turn alliance. And it might be expensive if we've already shot our rep by breaking the Zulu furs deal.

On the plus side, we have 25 cavalry and with our rails we can probably take two or three Zulu cities in the same turn as a DOW. They have Leonardo's conveniently situated in Delhi, and that would save us over 600 gold on upgrades of our cats and cannons to artillery, and our muskets to infantry. That's it for upgrades, though, unless we decide to build more infantry now for later upgrade to MI.

But I needed to think about it some more before I hit next turn, so if you want to do the thinking and take it, please do :)

We have a couple of builds I don't understand. A Stock exchange in Aldea that will do nothing for us as we have zero cash revenue to multiply with our sliders at 0.10.0. And I'm not sure about building more cavalry, as they'll be obsolete when we have tanks in 12 turns.

Edit2: Lyons is going to riot if not taken care of IBT.
well spotted

Correct. The F1 screen shows your science numbers which is the bpt you are earning. Use the F1 numbers not the bpt shown in CivAssist. Ainwood is using raw beakers in CivAssist which does not take into account all of the science bonuses. I did a review of the top 3 space victories from a prior GOTM and CivAssist was showing less than 1000 bpt while they were actually earning over 2000 bpt.

EDIT: crossed with Alan

@Alan - which version of CivAssist did you dl. I had to drop back to the more stable 1.07 to stop the errors I was getting. I've also had to load the saves as manual files because CivAssist looks in the default directories and I have more than 1 version on Civ on my computer.

I have to point it at an active Civ file or folder manually, as I run it on an old PC and tell it to look at a file on my Mac across the LAN. I don't think it would find it unaided. I confess I don't use it a lot ...

[Sounds of ancient Windows 98 disk cranking up as Alan checks the version he tried]

Yes, I was trying 1.0.10, which doesn't want to open any files I try on it :hmm:. If I open our 940 AD save in an old 1.0.5 version it seems OK.

I cannot play for +6 hours but I would be happy to then if you will allow it. Or if you have time now to get the turnset in I'll wait. I can always get further on in my gotm.
Go for it  I'll skip this round and pick it up next time around if there's anything left :D

You could wait 7 turns and then I don't think there'd be a rep hit as we'd only be cancelling deals where they pay us. However, the rep hit is probably not a problem come to think of it as we already trashed it, didn't we? That being the case I think now is as good a time as ever, before Shaka gets Infantry?

I vote for the RoP rape. Losing the ability to sign ROPs will not hurt us unless we want a diplomatic vitcory. (and obviously we don't )

RoP rape sounds like fun to me. We don't have enough superiority to play by the Queensbury rules.

Ok I'm part way into the turns and I have a couple of questions.

Are we planning on wiping the Zulu out completely?

Is Bombay less likely to flip to the Zulu because it was not their town originally? The town has 3 wonders in it. Coper's - Leo's - and somthing else. Do we try to keep it or not?

It doesn't matter if Bombay has Zulu or Indian citizens, but the Indian culture in Bombay should make it slightly less likely to flip to the Zulus. Keep it, especially if you're gonna wipe out da Zulus, which I can't see a reason not to.

Starve it down to size 1 and then we will start adding back loyal citizens. Because of the Wonders I'd continue to starve it even after both ZUL & IND are gone from the game.

Nice grouping too: #22, #24 & #26.

:goodjob: Alan on your first Predator game. I haven't ventured there yet. Did you find it much different than Open Class?

Everyone here plays the GOTM except me.

Oh, well. I started this month. (Predator :D)

Apologies for the delayed response. I've been playing some rather intensive turns in SGOTM4

Thanks! I've actually played rather few GOTMs, so I don't know whether the Predator level did me much damage. I took that route to get a faster tech pace as I decided I'd need Sipahi/Dragoons to finish the job, so I wanted to get to Mil Trad fast. That shows how much I know, as knights were enough for some people  I think the start was very benign, and I made a good decision in my view by not taking on Carthage early, waiting for swords. I had a massive military buildup at the beginning, plus a ton of workers, and I think that did a lot of good. I've been looking at the QSC previews and they are interesting!

I have played a previous start on Predator but didn't have time to finish. Again, I didn't feel it hurt. I like that tech pace level and I revel in the trading side of keeping up. However, I'm not ready to try it on Emperor (36) or Deity (37 - according to a recent post by Ainwood) yet.

Yikes  Now I know what to do this week, since I finished GOTM36 already. Time to run through some Diety games. Hopefully we will get a nice start like this game where we can do a double factory.
