I doubt it. He was targeted in a shooting outside a strip club a year earlier and there’s also been suspects arrested over this one.
Oh hush now, don't interrupt the "all cops are evil" fetish going on here.

I strongly suspect the thought process here goes something like "black victim...probably a robbery, I know they do that a lot"
targeted or just in the wrong place?
I imagine more people are killed in robbery attempts than by cops for testifying against a cop and I doubt this guy's testimony mattered. What could he have said that made her guilty? What would he have known about it? 'I heard gunshots'. So the cops kill him for saying that in court?
Testifying against a cop probably matters more than whatever he had to say, in this case. It's not about the [testi]money, it's about sending a message...
I don’t remember for sure, the cnn article is slow to load on my phone and I can’t be bothered to look it up again.
I think he had said he believed those people were after him, something like that.
What’s come out about this is that it’s believed this murder was from a fight during a drug deal. If that sounds a little too convenient, the fact that he was shot at a year earlier and the suspects arrested make it more believable.
She claimed to have shouted out a police warning before shooting. His testimony was that he did not hear such a warning. His apartment was across the hall. His testimony called her truthfulness into question.I can see that as a possibility if this guy was the prosecution's start witness, but I thought this woman admitted her mistake from the start. There's nothing I can see this guy contributing to her guilt.
but you can plant a gun, or any assorted wacky cop stuff
You couldn’t assassinate someone and then argue that you believed the suspect was armed later for one thing.

No, fetid semen is definitely not the same as leather.
