Key witness in Botham Jean case shot to death.

I doubt it. He was targeted in a shooting outside a strip club a year earlier and there’s also been suspects arrested over this one.

targeted or just in the wrong place?

I strongly suspect the thought process here goes something like "black victim...probably a robbery, I know they do that a lot"

I imagine more people are killed in robbery attempts than by cops for testifying against a cop and I doubt this guy's testimony mattered. What could he have said that made her guilty? What would he have known about it? 'I heard gunshots'. So the cops kill him for saying that in court?

Testifying against a cop probably matters more than whatever he had to say, in this case. It's not about the [testi]money, it's about sending a message...

I don’t remember for sure, the cnn article is slow to load on my phone and I can’t be bothered to look it up again.

I think he had said he believed those people were after him, something like that.

What’s come out about this is that it’s believed this murder was from a fight during a drug deal. If that sounds a little too convenient, the fact that he was shot at a year earlier and the suspects arrested make it more believable.

I can see that as a possibility if this guy was the prosecution's start witness, but I thought this woman admitted her mistake from the start. There's nothing I can see this guy contributing to her guilt.

if thats the case it wont take too long to track the killer down

It certainly could be a coincidence, but given the practical realities surrounding police, their interactions with black people, their attitudinal history towards anyone anti-cop (which would include testifying against them) etc. makes for an easy, breezy, beautiful conspiracy theory. One that's less grand conspiracy and more speculative reality.

You couldn’t assassinate someone and then argue that you believed the suspect was armed later for one thing.

but you can plant a gun, or any assorted wacky cop stuff

She claimed to have shouted out a police warning before shooting. His testimony was that he did not hear such a warning. His apartment was across the hall. His testimony called her truthfulness into question.

You could but that makes it much less plausible. Besides, there’s a level of criminality in plotting an assassination above shooting someone in the heat of the moment. And a conspiracy by definition involves a group of people.

Ouch, so she lied or the neighbor didn't hear her warning. I probably should read his testimony before dismissing the possibility other cops had a motive for 'pay back'.

Otoh I'm not sure the neighbor would hear much of anything other than gunshots. I doubt she would need to 'shout' that loud if she was warning someone standing a few feet away whereas the neighbor had 2 doors separating them, nevertheless his testimony did hurt her 'defense'.

1 door anyway... no neighbors on either side of the victim's? Nah, I cant see the cops going after this guy for testifying all he heard were gunshots.

One poster made a comment, that's all it took for you roll out whatever you apparently mean by "fetish"? Hahaha, yikes :D

It's understandable, they have a fetish for licking boots and they want to draw attention away from that.

No, fetid semen is definitely not the same as leather.

I'll go by your personal experiences then.

Won't somebody please think of the poor police, how cruel it is to point out their systemic failings and abuse of communities of Color as well as other minority groups
