Leaderhead Requests

One of the guys I am making my mod for requested Oda Nobunaga as a Japanese leader. I am aware that Meiji was just made, but this guy is insufferable. Anyway I am still learning how to make leaderheads (by trial and error... well mostly error), but in the spirit of "helping" him out I am going to request Oda Nobunaga.

I figure if it is based on this picture it could make a good generic Japanese leaderhead as well.

Did no one request King Sejong the Great of Korea?
Well heres an image:

Or there is also Korea's ancient Goguryeo king,
Gwanggeto the Great:

Finally there is Korea's most famous admiral, who defeated the Japanese invaders in Hideyoshi's 1592 and 1596 invasions of Korea.

I'd appreciate if someone considered any of these. Thanks.

Who could we make into the ultimate American leader?

I'm thinking Roosevelt... oh the irony!

How come we don't have Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden... aka: "The Lion of the North"?!?!?

Damn, you're right, Wolfshanze!

One question... if Gus is going in your mod, will you make him a Swedish civ, or is he going with the Vikings?

maybe this one also :

While I do want Gustavus Adolphus, please God, no... not in that fruity outfit and gay hat!

Neither... I'm probably going to rename the Vikings as "Scandinavia" and call it a day... Gustavus can lead them.

I think you might need to rename the cities too. The names in Civ4 are Viking (like Bjorgvin, which is now Bergen). In my MOD I did for my game I call them "Viking Scandinavia".

Since it's been a while since my last request, I'll repeat it again this time (and add a few more) with more detailed stuff on why we need these leaderheads instead of throwing random pictures and names out and asking people to make a LH.

As of right now, almost every notable leader; from Hitler, Hirohito, and Mussolini to Reagan, Meiji, and Atatürk; who stands out in his/her major civilization has been done, but there are still some holes that have to be filled. These are some of the most important leaders of the last few centuries of history that still need to be done, imo. Unfortuantely, I don't have much interest in ancient history, so I haven't given much attention to those. But anyways, my current big five...

22px-Flag_of_the_Republic_of_China.svg.png
China (Chinese Empire)

Sun Yat-Sen
First President of the Republic of China

225px-Sunyatsen1.jpg

Who he was: In the final stages of the Qing Empire, Sun Yat-Sen was a revolutionary scholar who sought to bring China out of its backwardsness and follow the example of the more advanced western nations and even the rapidly advancing Japan. He was responsible for developing the Three Principles of the People (Nationalism, Democracy, and Socialism). After numerous attempts at bringing about revolution and overthrowing the corrupt and inefficient Qing government, he followed gathered enough support and founded the Republic of China. Unfortunately, he could not oversee his own dream of a democratic and modernized China as he died early from health problems.

Why he needs a LH: Sun is revered in both the PRC (China) and the ROC (Taiwan) as the Father of Modern China. In other words, he holds a prestige akin to the likes of George Washington of the US, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk of Turkey, and Mohandas Gandhi of India... That pretty much speaks for itself on the weight of his influence. His lifetime (and especially his rule) was short-lived, but his contributions to his country are enormous. This is no problem, considering Gandhi wasn't even a ruler, yet he is a Civ leader. Sun is an absolute must for China, and would be the only leader who wasn't a tyrant at the same time (Qin, Mao, and even Chiang). So Sun Yat-Sen is my top request at the moment.

Chiang Kai-Shek
President of the Republic of China, Chairman of the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party)

225px-Chiang_Kai-shek_enhanced.jpg

Who he was: More people would probably be familiar with Chiang, the leader of the Republic of China during WWII, and the successor of Sun Yat-Sen to the mantle of the Kuomintang. He lead an extreme war against the communists during WWII and after into the Chinese Civil War. One interesting thing was that he believed that the communists were more of a threat than the Japanese invaders. Either way, the nationalists lost and fled to Taiwan due to inefficiency, corruption, losses from the war against Japan, and losing moral support. Although he was committed to leading "free China," he himself was a very dictatorial and oppressed his people and their freedoms especially in Taiwan to achieve his goals.

Why he needs a LH: The answer is obvious. We have all the major Allied leaders (Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, DeGaulle) except Chiang. Note that's also four of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council represented (Mao does not count as the PRC wasn't recognized until decades later). Given that a lot of mods focus on this timeline, he's pretty important (understatement). LH's of Chiang do exist, but they're nowhere near the quality of current ones, which is why he's still requestable. If I had to pick only one between these two Chinese leaders though, I'd have to go with Sun Yat-Sen.

30px-Sweden-Flag-1562.svg.png
Sweden ("Viking Empire")

Gustavus Adolphus
King of Sweden

250px-Gustav_II_of_Sweden.jpg

Who he was: The Golden King, The Lion of the North... He was the leader and general who brought Sweden from being a relatively unimportant country to being a great power of Europe. He expanded the realm of the Sweden by taking territory from Russia and Poland-Lithuania, and his victories over the Holy Roman Empire in the Thirty Years War were tremendous, bringing about the rise of the Swedish Empire.

Why he needs a LH: I'm going to have to echo Wolf on requesting Gustavus. Not many people are happy with the stereotypically inaccurate depiction of the Vikings from Ragnar. Since Sweden was one of the mightiest countries from Scandinavia, if anyone were to make a leader for a remodeled Viking/Scandinavian Empire (or Swedish derivative), he'd be a natural choice.

22px-Flag_of_Spain_under_Franco_1938_1945.svg.png
Spain (Spanish Empire)

Francisco Franco
President of Spain

200px-Franco0001.PNG

Who he was: Franco was dictator of Spain after his victory in the Spanish Civil War. He quashed any opposition within his own government, but staunchly supported Spanish nationalism and adherence to Catholic values. He was also responsible for keeping Spain neutral throughout WWII as well as aligning with the West out of anti-communism during the Cold War.

Why he needs a LH: Spain only has one leader. Also, they lack a modern leader as well as the leader during WWII (as mentioned above with Chiang). Put two and two together, and you can see why I'm requesting him!

Edit: Apparently he's already done. Well I'm too lazy to remove my blurb on him, so Franco can chill here for now.

22px-Flag_of_United_Arab_Republic.svg.png
Egypt/Arabia (Egyptian/Arabian Empire)

Gamal Abdel Nasser
President of Egypt, President of the United Arab Republic

185px-Nasser.jpg

Who he was: Nasser was a leader of the Egyptian Revolution of 1952 and a staunch believer in Pan-Arabism. He brought about industrialization and numerous policies to support the growth of Egypt. He saw himself as an Arab and Egypt as a leader of the Arab world, and consequently he formed a union with Syria, the United Arab Republic, which dissolved after his death. Throughout his regime, he inspired anti-colonial and anti-Western sentiment throughout the Arab world, and was admired throughout the region.

Why he needs a LH: Egypt needs a modern leader, and it's hard to argue for a leader more important than Nasser. The only problem with that is that the Egypt then (ancient Egypt) and modern Egypt are practically two totally different cultures and civilizations. To further complicate the situation, Nasser saw himself as an Arab moreso than an Egyptian, so in that sense, he's also just as equally an applicable leader for Arabia as well.

So please, some talented artists, pick up some of these! :shifty:

Why he needs a LH: Spain only has one leader. Also, they lack a modern leader as well as the leader during WWII (as mentioned above with Chiang). Put two and two together, and you can see why I'm requesting him!

I've made a Franco already. It's not the best likeness, but it's not too bad.
Comparison? :dunno:

I do prefer the younger Franco though... who wants to dig-up the old fossilized Franco?

I think that if you want Gustavus Adolphus you need to make a Swedish civ. It is something like making Garibaldi the leader of Rome, more or less. As for Nasser, you need a modern Egypt civ for that in my opinion. Personally, I think Sadat was greater then Nasser. Nasser brings only negative feelings to me... On the other hand, Isabella is also in the game, and she is controversial too. The only leader I will never even consider adding to the game is Hitler, he doesn't deserve it.

This guy!

IMO Nasser should be an Arabian leader. He was a Pan-Arabist, after all.

This isn't really a request for a certain leader... but I'd like to see what Pericles would look like if we shaved him.

Oh not again...
DOH.GIF

And mass-murderers Stalin and Genghis Khan "deserve" to be in the game?

Being in the game is not an "honor" for nice deserving people, it's putting into history the people that had the biggest impact on history... for good or ill. It's not an exercise in whitewashing history or cherry-picking all the feel-good leaders.

I suppose we should just ditch about 99% of the leaders in the game who are all undeserving for one reason or another and insert Mother Theresa then.

Igor, I understand you live is Israel (don't know if you're Jewish or not). But think of it this way. Putting Hitler in the game gives you the opportunity to sic 'im with Ben-Gurion's army!
