It's not nearly as harsh as you describe here in Czech rep., but we could use less feminism in our law too.
I am sick of this "women need to be protected" attitude. It's unfair, stupid and dangerous.
For example, when a marriage is divorced in Czech rep., kids are almost always left with the mother. There are tons of cases of mother who were alcoholics, who lived in much worse conditions than their ex-husbands, but they were given the kids instead of them. There are another dozens of cases of mothers who were abusing the alimony or obstructing the father from seeing his kids (in defiance of the court's decision).
Courts can, even under the current legislation, easily set things right, but they won't. You know why?
80% of judges on the lowest level (the courts which decide in these cases) are women.
...
If you want justice, you have to go to Strasbourg (European Court of Human Rights has a seat there). After 15 years of pleading, you may even be allowed to see your kids - who will probably not even recognize you at best, or hate you because they've been told stories about how evil bastard you are and how you left their mother for their whole childhood.
Wonderful. Now tell me again how are women discriminated against. It's a load of crap.
