LINESII- Into the Darkness

well all this hearsay really, it really depends on what they write about Lengels in their stories and how they view you not how you want to be viewed.
lurker's comment: Mongols killed lots of people. Today, people think "Hrm, Mongols killed lots of people, scary."

They even to this day debate whether they could've invaded Europe or not. :p Lengels killed lots of people. It's not hard to imagine what people will think of them much later.

True enough, but eternity in this case is basically a couple hundred years. Besides, I don't plan on disappearing that easily ;)

Who cares? The Lengels are not the Mongols. The Lengels are the Lengels, and should not be compared and judged out of our percievance of the Mongols.

Agreed, they remind me more of the Magyars anyway, culture aside.

On a completely unrelated note on above discussion, have you thought about creating sections in your updates iggy? I mean that each conflict/nation will be separated from rest of the update with a line of asterisks? like

lengels blaa blaa blaa...

******

guangfei blaa bla blaa...

you get the idea. In my opinion it would make the updates easier to read. oh and bolding the nation names would also help finding your section from the update if you try to find something from there quickly.

1... 2... 3..., 1... 2... 3...

“Move your feet, you idiot!”

The clank of swords filled the training yard. Having earned a short break, I watched the other men train, their swords flashing in the bright sun. I had the fortune of experience with a sword. My father, a minor noble from Palaxau, had had me schooled swordsmanship from youth. Others were not so fortunate.

1... 2... “—Ahh!”

“Didn’t I just say to move your feet? You’re not paying attention!”

Yet by and large the men being trained turned out well, and even those who had no experience at all would soon become hardened swordsmen. The Kehex army was not in any way a forgiving organization, as I had learned. And, of course, it was growing rapidly now. Some said that the Queen feared for the safety of her small nation. Some put it down to a woman’s weakness. Others said we were going off to war, though surely we would have some word of it yet if there was to be war.

1… 2… 3…, 1… 2… 3…

“Better, better. Now. I’m going to come at you, and you will parry my blows. Don’t move forward this time, and don’t reach out with your sword. You’re fighting defensively, holding the line. Go.”

I suspect that I know the answer to the question of why, however. It has little to do with the small size of Kehexou, though indeed we are a nation struggling daily to avoid being swallowed up by greater powers. It has little to do with a woman’s weakness, or with future wars. The Queen wishes to see our nation restored to its power for her son, and, in that time, protect him.

1… 2… 3…, 1… 2… 3…

“You’re moving your feet, stepping backwards, giving ground! Didn’t I just tell you not to give ground?”

I saw the Queen only once, and from afar. She was as a beautiful as they say, and with her was her young son, the crown prince. I watched from afar as the Queen sat down on the ground and shook smooth stones out onto the ground. She sat and played stones[1] with her son in full public, though far indeed from where I stood. I saw then that cares deeply for her son, deeper than my mother cared for me. It is refreshing to see a heart in the coldness of nobility, and it is because of that chance meeting, from a distance, that I feel I know what is in the Queen’s heart.

1… 2… 3…, 1… 2… 3…

“An improvement. We have little time left before this training session breaks, but I would to show you one more thing. I will come at you with this weighted axe. Do not try to parry it. An axe can destroy a sword at a single strike. However, an axeman is slow. Dodge, and try to tap me with your wooden sword.”

I was done watching the men training in the yard. The captain would soon arrive and end the training session in any case. I stood up and entered the doorway behind me.

1… 2… 3…, 1… 2… 3…

[1]Not, as in many stories, another name for Go. Stones is more like tiddly-winks: a child’s game.

No, they'll remember me as a nation that destroyed and conquered four nations, a more sucessful version of the Eldranians, if you will.
Eldrania only destroyed three, but they did so from an even playing field.

@andis- I'll do that and see what people think of it.

Starting update.

Like this? :p

Estimated time Iggy? :D

FYI, I don't like all those asterisks, they look ugly :( At least, too many of them...

Yes, use lines instead: "---". ;)

Lurker's Comment: Amateurs.

Is the way.

Actually, I was kidding. Just update in your usual style, Iggy. Dividing by nations is unwise, as everything is intertied, by now anyway.

No weekend update? ;)

I agree with das, interwined updates are good. You can burn the heretics anytime! Or we could hand andis to silver, the insane genocidal one that is.

Yeah, I like your style, Iggy. Maybe at the beginning, when there really isn't contact, you could have done something like in my NES, but that's already starting to break down after 2 updates, and will probably be almost entirely gone after 5 or so.

However I fail to see how malkavian war interties with guangfeis expansion. And I did not mean that the update would be divided strictly by the nations, but instead every conflict/war would get it's own section. Just like in NK's updates.

oh and three asterisks would be enough. More is too much maybe.

And why do you care about Guangfei's expansion... *paranoia rises* Why don't you use yourself as an example instead of me?

Well, since you asked.

"However I fail to see how malkavian war and nurmaferian war are intertied."

good?

Yes, thank you. :)

From: New Veritas
To: Guangfei

We will build the city far from your borders, but it will be built nonethless. At any rate, the headwaters of the river are claimed by no nation. If you wish to trade with outside nations, you will have to make agreements with them as well. As promised, we will not interfere in your...affairs.
