I admit das has a point from the Cradle's perspective on the Iron/Imperial Age as upon the success of the Lengels, there are now practically no one on an equal footing with them in the Cradle. So I stand with das even if he denounces me as a wamonger...

Why must things be as OTL? Anyway, cavalry is already on the rise, but I doubt that you'll really need it, being more of an island civilization (you'll need a hybrid of Ancient Greek marines and vikings, IMHO); castles, there are already pretty formidable fortresses out there, and besides feudals are such a bother; cannon fodder peasant armies are always easy to assemble.

Nay I've been just watching Black Adder too much and I feel a need for a little medievilness. But other then that I am feeling a need for piracy! Vikings are good idea yes.

Sure Edmund wasnt as cunning as in the later incarnations, but the show itself was quite funny.
