LK130 - Ottomans, Monarchy, Balanced Map

Agreed that Bula looks like a monster, but it does not have sufficient food pre-biology, (even with the corn). One or two of the mines will have to be changed to windmills pre-biology. But yes, we should probably build IW in Bula or Erdine.
We can afford to farm also the dye tile.

LK and AK what do you think ?

Forbidden Palace should be built in yet-to-be-captured Nobamba, since we would be unlikely to take on Brennus soon ... so our war effort would most likely go southward into Germany.
If we built it in the south, i would prefer Nongoma
Nobamba seems like a good candidate for the Globe as well.
good for me
As to Shaka's stack near Bang(alore), moving the 3 knights+ 1 janissary down from Bombay should be sufficient. But we do not have forces in the south to eliminate Shaka ... so probably I will be building up our forces down there and pass the save to Lee for the declaration.
--
In Bula we have 9 trebs + 8 cats that will promote to cannons, nine various units, + more to come. How many more do you want ?

Don't forget Shaka has a 7 unit stack by Bangalore. We have enough to attack in the south, but have nothing in the other east to deal with this stack.
5 maces and a jumbo should be able to handle everything but the pillaging.

As to Shaka's stack near Bang(alore), moving the 3 knights+ 1 janissary down from Bombay should be sufficient.
that would deal nicely with the shaka stack.

Hooking up Bang's spices soon. Just a reminder if we go to war.

I like Nobamba for the FP for the previously stated reasons.

I also like IW in Erdine for just a sic military city.

GT in Berlin? Another random thought.

I'm pretty comfortable going after Shaka with 17 cannon and whatever's in the pipeline.

Also agree we should culture bomb Bombay again.

Long term, just for discussion, pass our troops through Brenny to Bella while making Freddie more religious. After Bella is done, hit Freddy. I know too soon to look that far ahead. Also, after SM we might want to go for radio. Bombers and whatnot

First off, I don't understand why Ulundi is on avoid growth ... it is our GP Farm, it should be growing, growing, growing.

Research wise, we finished Steam Power and have a few coal in already mined hills. I go for scientific method ... for 2 turns :smoke: then decided that we do not have enough monasteries (esp Hindu) ... and swapped to Railroads instead for railing the lumbermills and mines.

Ragnar came asking for trade ... agreed.

lk130-AD1472-ragnar-trade.jpg

Then, Shaka had the audacity to come demanding for Paper.

lk130-AD1478-shaka-demands.jpg

Tell, you want, a better way to amend our relationship is for you to pay up.

lk130-AD1478-demand-shaka.jpg

He meekly agreed -- the cowardice annoyed me further and I decide the only way to amend relationship is for him to die.

lk130-AD1484-war.jpg

The stack outside Bang(alore) decide to attack our grenie + Janissary + knights on a mountain. Surprising, they managed to kill the grenie before being mopped up.

Nobamba is ours. Globe theatre here?

lk130-AD1502-Nobamba.jpg

And in the midst of this, Shaka decide to send out a settling party ... how stupid can AI be?

lk130-AD1514-zulu-settler.jpg

Lee should be able to finish Shaka in his first turn (2 more cities):

lk130-AD1520-Ndondak.jpg

lk130-AD1520-Nongoma.jpg

I suggest razing both. Nodondak-whatever is far too crappy, and Nongoma is under too many cultural pressure to be useful (plus we would most like capture the german city that is 3 tiles south of it).

@Lee: Since there is only 1 turn of war in your set, I suggest you play the full 15 turns.

>>> The Save at 1520AD <<<

First off, I don't understand why Ulundi is on avoid growth
I missed that. I don't use the governors in solo games so I forget to check them.

Before we raze Nongoma, do we have another source of coal?

Is shaka going to be able to capitulate to someone before we erase him?

We have a few sources of coal (at least two of which are in mined hills).

No one else declared on Shaka ... plus Lee really should be able to finish Shaka off in one turn. So I think the chances of capitulation are infinitesimal.

Oh, BTW, Frederick completes the Versallies, another reason to augment his cities into ours

sounds like a plan.

I still like Berlin for the globe for reasons i can't articulate at the moment. :crazyeye:

Nice job, GF.

1520 AD
I can't recall even having a game where the human civ was so dominant early on. I almost never hit number one in power this early.

While Bombay is tempting for Wall Street with the double shrines, I will stick with Unum as it can build WS a lot sooner. I will build the 3 missing banks so that I can start WS before my round is done.

I was really hoping that the iron works would already be under construction before I started my turn. The biggest coordination problems in SGs seem to be getting small wonders started, and ASAP use of great people.

1523 AD
I just noticed Germany has an absurd $1500. I sell him corporation to empty his treasury. This is close to full value, as he didn't offer divine right.

General Lee is born.

Ndon is razed. I agree with GF that this city location is putrid.

I also razed Nongoma, as GF was correct about way too much cultural pressure.

1529 AD
Since the Iron Works is going in Bula, our GG creates a MA in that city. We will have a second high military city.
(IT) We popped another source of gold.

1532 AD
Our new GS will build an academy in Konya. It is our third best science city already, and 3 cottages will mature just during my round making it even more powerful.

1538 AD
All of our cities now celebrate Judaism.

1553 AD
(IT) Better defense units sound good, so I work toward rifles.

1559 AD
(IT) Ragnar declares war on Izzy!

=======================

New Updates
I would like Oxford in Konya. We have 4 of the needed universities, and two more are on the way.

I have Edirne on infinite Janissary mode. My goal is to send those units to cities such as Bangalore to free up the maces. I prefer to have my CR2 and CR3 maces upgraded. At 90% cash we are upgrading another one every few turns. That upgrade level is before the effects of the FP kick in 3 turns from now.

I was in missionary crazy mode, and we should continue to do so. I know some missionaries have go to orders.

Roster
LKendter
Lukep (currently playing)
Admiral Kutzov (on deck)
GreyFox

Remember 15 peace / 10 war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Win target: Open, but I would like a domination win soon.

Planned wars - The smack down off Frederick.

Small wonders
Heroic Epic - Edirne
Globe Theater - We are still searching for a site.
Wall Street - Unum
Oxford - Konya
Forbidden Palace - It is under construction in Nobamba.
National Epic - Ulundi
Iron Works - It is under construction in Bula.

Cannons aren't the problem.
It is future city defenders.
Not to mention offensive infantry.

IBT
assign a second artist to Bombay to resist Dehli culture
assign artist in bangalore too
declare war to Fred

1574
Forbidden palace built
I go to assembly line, scientific method would obsolete monasteries
Dusseldorf fall
lk130_dusseldorf_fall.jpg

1580
Berlin fall

1595
Cologne Fall
konya start oxford
Versailles is ours
Vercingetorix is born
lk130_cologne_fall.jpg

Notes
Beware there is troops build-up in frankfurt
We have confucian missionaries waiting end of war in dusseldorf and nobamba
Vercingetorix GG is waiting in ulundi
There maybe reinforcements in goto to the rally point in nobamba
War Weariness start to climb
Only small wonder left, but important one, is Globe Theater.
Berlin is not bad for that

The No_growth weed could be mine (i use the governor a lot) but i dont recall setting it and i keep written notes of that.

Vercingetorix GG is waiting in ulundi
Wow that was fast. I just put a GG in Bula during my turn set!

I would like to propose were turn this one into a trainer in Bula. A high military city with 2 promotions out the door is a great combo.

That was a total shocker to me. I didn't plan on the war this soon.

Sorry if you expected a build-up before. But everybody agreed on going on Fred rather soon.

Checking the save, our position seemed strong enough and i did not saw the point of waiting 15 turns, as we have nothing really pressing (like a wonder) to focus on inbetween. Versailles is also additional gravvy.

Anyhow, we have taken 3 cities, we could take 2 more i think, then declare peace for 10 turns.

I have it. will try tonight, but most likely tomorrow. the pace of this game is amazing.

if the opportunity comes up, globe in Berlin.

I see that Brenny replanted Ndon. Anyone want to bet on where there's oil?

Everyone okay with west point in Erdine? or would you prefer Bula?

I often don't even bother building WP. It takes a lot of shields just to get an extra promotion out of the gate.

I would build it in the city that it would build quicker, and I suspect that is Bula.

Well don't forget we lost a player. That also makes it seem like you just played your turn.

New Updates
I see nothing to comment on. Small wonder plans are moving along nicely.

Once this war is done I want to get back into missionary spam mode. We lack Hinduism, and I want all of our new German cities to celebrate Judaism since each city will soon be worth $3/turn.

It seems, if i'm not mistaken, that our roster alternate european and american players, which explain the fast rate

You are mistaken. It actually gets better than that: it alternates between European, American, and Asian. :)

The only better roster is if you are after me, then theoretically the forth turnset would just be 24hrs away from the first turnset.

and no, that is NOT a suggestion! :p

This was mainly a war set, so I only played 10.

Ragnar is a problem.

1598: whip CH in Dusseldorf.

1601: Baldy wants open borders. No. Raze Bremen. GG builds military academy in Bula.

1604: Start Hermitage in Bombay. Brenny has emancipated his slaves. Steam and WM buys Democracy from Gandhi.

1607: Ragnar now has SM.

1610: AL -> combustion. We should be able to trade for SM as soon as someone else learns it.

1613: Bula finishes IW -> Hammam. Take Stuggart, burning 2 cannon. Whip a theatre in Berlin.

1616:

1619: Take Hamburg. WW is getting out of hand. Whip theatre in Cologne.

1622: Brenny want to trade MT for AL. No. Whip a monestary in cologne. whip a CH in Berlin. Make peace with Freddy for DR + WM. Swell, now I get to MM.

1625: We need some troops in Bombay.

I started factories. Get some coal plants and then start building infantry again. somewhere in the next set we should be able to trade for SM.

Once this war is done I want to get back into missionary spam mode. We lack Hinduism, and I want all of our new German cities to celebrate Judaism since each city will soon be worth $3/turn.
I was somewhat lax on the missionaries. I'd rather get the factories up and then spam the monks.

We may be ready to go after Bella after the next set, but more likely we'll need to finish Freddy.

Brenny is building lots of troops and needs to be closely watched. Don't strip the garrisons.

Oh, and our civics need addressed.
