Very good turn set.

I think you left the following in from your previous turn set.
Turn 8 - 1480AD
IT Oh dear, we go 1-4 on Brazilian heavy counters near Rio
Brazil's new city Recife along the coast has grown to pop 2, ready to take

Spain will trade us Saltpeter, 82 gpt and some gold for Renaissance. Should last us until we get Saltpeter from the former US.

I favor building a few ships and taking the last Japanese city.

Wow, I actually checked every turn with Spain and all they would give us was saltpeter and nothing else. Must have popped up this turn, this deal is surely worth taking.

*thanks for the pointer of the copy paste thing

Spain will trade us Saltpeter, 82 gpt and some gold for Renaissance. Should last us until we get Saltpeter from the former US.
Sounds like we can use up some of that gold upgrading pikes to muskets. That will improve our defense a lot

some of the animations just aren't calibrated correctly. It's like they're running each frame 3 times or something (hopefully it's not just my potato laptop being slow at loading the frames!).

It's not your laptop.:) Some of the units from Imperator1961 are set with slow animation times for some reason. With Flicster these issues can be taken care of, fortunately.

Note: The Civilopedia information that relates to the British Bombard (used by Canada) is missing. Takeo fixed this early in January 2018.
The fix can be found here: British Bombard.txt

Here is a dot map with 4 city sites that will complete our colonization of the western side of the land mass we are on.

Red spot is same as previously shown.
Yellow spot just looks good to me.
Light Green spot was chosen because of the food resources. Also, to large overlap with Miami is mostly desert.
Light Blue spot completes our borders when cities get to to the 3rd ring.

I think the order of settling should be Red then Yellow.
The next settler :dunno:
This settler might go to the Arab land mass.
Otherwise, Light Blue before Light Green.

Takeo made a quick fix of the unit animations of the Native HL. This fix can be uploaded at the CCM2 testforum and will also be included in the upcoming CCM2 update.

Takeo, thank you very much! :)

Preturn: Switch Calgary for 1 turn Pikes for now rather than 2 turn Knights. Also Tokyo and Edo are switched to Castles. The 75% defense might help so will work on those. Would rush (only) if it looks like it would be better to defend.

We look not quite ready for war with Tokyo currently vulnerable so it will be turn or two to continue to move units into position.

IBT: Buddist and Islamic Art completed.

1505 AD: My thought was to try planting a spy to see what units USA had. This puts us at war when the spy is caught.

Decide to play it defensively since we don't have sufficient defense 3 units on the front lines yet. Fall back to deal with the initial rush; then we can advance when we are stronger than them

1510 AD: Kill most of a large-ish stack.

We got a Monk so renamed Quebec with (Monks)

IBT: No units attack; I am trying to avoid 'bad odds' for now.

1515 AD: Stack near Tokyo and Stack near Quebec dealt with. One Brave is a sacrifice to stop Spear on Iron.

IBT: Brave killed and also a Pike

1520 AD: In truly awful RNG we lose 2 Missionary attacking def 1 Catapults. We have only 1 Missionary left.

Kill off enemy units, but it is getting harder to control. We may lose some units this IBT.
On the plus side we are now strong vs the US.

IBT: Do lose 2 stacks with Knight and Pike, but take serveral units with us doing so.

Built Cogs to the south.

1525 AD: More units killed and no US units remain in our lands.
Going to stop here after 5 turns. Won't be able to play more until next weekend.

Able to trade Renassiance with Spain and Israel. We picked up Saltpeter with the Spain trade so upgraded some Pike.

Notes:
US stacks are smaller; we can likely go on the offensive soon.

I have built 3 cogs. This can take 9 units to remove Japan from the map. We might be able to stop starving cities down. Units near Kyoto are the last 2.

We can now afford Naval Guns or University for most of our money and possibly trade for Sacred art. I didn't do this yet; it might be nice if we could pick up more than just sacred art if we are going to spend all our gold.

Confused what happened here. This trade was mentioned pre-turn, but didn't happen until several turns in.

Looks like I missed it when I looked at the previous report. Not sure why I didn't spot it the first turn when looking for deals however on the first turn.

I did have a headache when playing so my concentration wasn't as good as usual. Didn't want to wait another week to play the game.

1585 AD:

________________________________________________________________
Edit: Hindu Fanatics are invisible units /edit
I have been using Explorers (they can see invisible units) as either scouts or MPs.
2 tiles below Nagasaki is a group of workers I have been using to build roads.

I have been checking for trade every turn.
Finally this turn, Arabia will trade Exploration to us for a lot of gold.
Spain and Israel never seemed to have enough cash to trade.

The bulk of our army is fortified in Satsuma. I have just been staying in Satsuma and letting India move onto the grass and killing the troops they put there with Knights and other fast moving troops.

I spend most of my turn set building infrastructure in old Brazil. It really hurts not having more luxuries. I have one Privateer out scouting for new trading partners.
Pictures will be in my next post.
Here is the game:

Nice set with USA and Japan gone. :)

I may play whack a stack with India most of my round. With them being a double-size empire, I don't want to invade until we have a monster stack to hit them with.

The invasion of Italy is tough to call. We gain zero luxuries. That is what we need the most. It only pays off IMO if we get to sell the resources from that island. No matter what, we don't need to discuss until India is gone. My gut says the tough fight of Arabia next. We really need to break that wonder hog.

We'll have more options once India is gone. I recommend building some ships during this turnset; we'll want a navy ready to go when the time is ripe to land on the next island.

The reason I mentioned Italy is that they are so backward we should be able to quickly conquer them and add 6 money producing cities to our empire.

LK should get at least 1 settler this turn set if not a second from Circus Maximus. Should we consider settling on Arabia's land mass?

India is a frelling monster with obscene stacks. I expect my whole set to be trying to knock off the initial rush. Wheel spinning fight is the most painful. Killing tons when moving forward at least feels like you are getting some where.

Former Brazil is building ships and troops to get our first city on Arabia's land mass. We are going to need a safe starting point to hit that area.

Nice work on US.

I agree getting a city on the continent should be the use of the next settlers.

Not sure on Italy either. They will be closer than the other cities so less corrupted - getting them early is an advantage, but there will be a lot of weak units in the initial rush. We may want to go for Israel first.
