Summary:
JJ needs to plan for Hover. A pre-build is too quick as of the end of my set. I don’t know how many turns needed to research it. A free power plant in every city is worth a few less whippets from one city. I think the net should be more troops.

The transports by former Greece should start moving to the next island to officially put South Africa out of the game.

It is now a very simply game plan.
Low shield cities = settlers / steamrollers.
All other cities = collective farm, barracks, and then whippets.
Workers = connect new cities, and then optimize cities for faster whippets.
Please draft when possible to free up 4 HP infantry for the front.

It is up to 43.7% of land. Now that we can take multiple cities a turn, I expect that number to jump fast. If you look at Mapstat 10 cities expand borders next turn. 13 more expand in 2 turns. I am sure I’ve played my last turn.

My quick plan without looking at the save is to go after Persia and to where ever else I can avoid mountains.
Hoover Dam has to be built in a city with a river. It most likely will be a 5 turn build in some city the can build a whippet in 1 turn.

Mountain River can make 1-turn Whippets if one of the citizens on the grassland works a forest instead. Easy win!
We have a lot of cities making 65-100 spt, but most of them are hopeless for hitting that 130-shield threshold.

Black dot is an exception, but it needs quite a few turns to grow. It might be worth joining some Settlers.
Hebron, Squawking Moose, and Jerusalem could add a lot of shields by joining some Settlers and fully improving all tiles. Hebron as an example can add 20 shields this way which adds ~60 to its total after the Factory effect is counted.

The next wave of cities is places like West Coast (58spt, a couple of rails and a new mined forest could easily kick it up over 65 = 2-turn Whippets). Kalisz, Tangier, Krakow, and maybe Goteborg (with a Police HQ) fit this bill.

Then cities like Bethlehem, Kadesh, Gniezno, etc. down to maybe Linkoping and Chonju can get 3-turn Whippet production with some modest efforts.

Edit: Axum can get 200spt with a couple of police = 4-turn build for Hoover.

Edit2: We have a lot of small gaps in our culture borders near Old Turkey and Old Scandinavia that will fill in by themselves in the next 5 turns.

The small town size was due to the switch to Anarchy. Our main cities had been mostly shrunk to 20 and 21. When we got hit with 2 IBT of Anarchy we lost 2 size for each one so 4 total. Thus our core towns were down to 16 and 17 after Anarchy.

We should raise our town sizes before we do a communism switch. The civipedia says you lose 2 pop in cities, 1 in town, but that seems to be per turn so happens twice.
 
Elephantium, for the 80-100 shield cities, I have them building 1 turn WWII Infantry (short rushing using Korean flag). We no longer build Whippets, we build Asian T95s which are 130 shields but have 3 movement. so 65-70 shield cities are 2 turn T95's.
Axum with Heavy Tank factory gets an extra 25% shields so it will be generating 200+ shields next turn. However, Hoover Dam is an 800 shield build and I con only use Battlefield medicine (500 shield build) for 2 turns. So the best I can do is finish Hoover Dam the turn after Interwar Period is learned. Plus right now it looks like it might take 5 turns to learn. I need to go see if I can hire enough scientists to make it 4 turns.

I wonder if I can merge Partisans into a city to increase its population.:hmm:

Greebley, I think we lose the extra citizens owing to starvation. Since, we lose the extra food from irrigation and and maybe rails.
 
Don't avoid mountains to much. IIRC the last South African city is near mountains.

My last turn made the first nibble on Persia. ;)
 
I forgot to mention that all of our planes upgrade with the next tech.

I completed my #1 goal of the set, and borders are way shorter. I don't care where you attack next, as long as the border stay short.

I hope JJ is happy with how many tanks build a turn. That is why I was able to take so many cities near the end of my set despite losing a lot of Whippets.

Axum could make 200 shields in the 1968 save by hiring a couple of cops. Heavy Tank Factory should bring it up above 210... :hmm:


I wouldn't bother with merging Partisans. We have tons of Motorized Settlers hanging out and lots of cities building them.

Good news is that the upgrade from Whipple to Type 95 is free.

I am in the first turn yet and it is going to take 4 more turns just to get troops to the island were the S African capitol is. I should have the other S. African city captured next turn.
