For Space I was thinking must be Republic and Democracy. Both govt discourage war. In addition, maybe continent map and we can't leave our continent.

I've been mostly focusing on filling in the hinterland, with modest progress along our borders. Culture flips have been fairly brutal.

I expect to be ready to hand off by Monday.

Sounds good. Only problem we might run into is if we are on a small continent and lack the resources we need to build railroads or a Rocket?
 
If we switch to being on the defensive and not expanding our territory any more,
we have an outside shot at a Space Victory in this game :crazyeye:

Treating Early Tanks as learned, we would need, 3 turns to complete building Mars Landing and 1 turn to accept victory. At the end of Elephantium's turn set we have about 199 turns left. That means we have 195 turns in which to learn 31 more techs. An average of about 6 turns per tech.
However, our gold age will have ended and we lose the extra income, so it will require a higher percentage of spending on research and techs in the Atomic age are 50% to almost 100% more expensive than they are now.
Switching to democracy would give the income back and reduce corruption.

The last time when a space victory was tried in a CCM succession game, it ended in a point victory, as too much enemy units were butchered during the game. :D But now in CCM 2.50 the limit for a victory by points is lifted to 1.000.000 victory points.

I don’t see a lot to comment on. It has clearly hit the steamroller phase. It is just a question how many more turns are needed. I am sure I have one more set, but not sure about a second.

Please keep science at 4 turns. I’m not sure how much stealing is left.
I don’t want a revolt until after our GA is done.

Spy targets = Germany (theocracy), Britain (govt?), China (govt?), Aztec (democracy), Greece (theocracy), and Arabia (democracy). They are the 6 tech leaders. Remember, we can’t steal from republics. Spies in the other civs are a low priority.

Capturing 2 cities per turn is pretty typical; that can probably bump up to 3 cities per turn pretty soon. I did a lot of work to manage incoming attacking forces, especially in the big jungle in the middle of our C-shaped empire.

I also focused on building cities to fill in territory gaps. There are still a few spots in that jungle that need cities, but we're pretty close to having a roughly straight-line front moving eastward.
 
I should add: I lost a LOT of regular units in fair fights. Getting Barracks built after the revolution will kick us back up into high gear for conquest.
 
I think we only need barracks in cities that can build whippets in 1 turn. At this point, we should be building nothing but troops, settlers and steamrollers. Instead of putting 320 shields into a factory we can have 4 WWI Infantry. We should use Adventurers as MPs and send the Infantry to the front. Drafting reduces our population so we should avoid it. Likewise we should not build Steamrollers in large population cities. 2 population points from Seoul is about one-half million people. 2 population points out of a size 13 city is around 250000 people.
 
Whippets must be a Korean unit. I don't recognize them.

I'm okay with adventures as MP in internal cities. I want strong coastal defenses. Those amphibious rifles from Britain are a threat to those towns.

I'm not the least bit worried about population. IIRC every game we crossed the pop limit way before the territory limit. We have 32.2% territory. It sounds like Tusker filled a lot of the empty areas inside. As those borders pop, that number should jump faster.

On the issue of barracks, I favor them everywhere. They are dirt cheap, and only cost a single turn in most cities. IMO well with it for better troop survival.

I also don't care about population. Building steamrollers and motorized settlers in cities with lots of extra food is more important than minimizing the "number of people" that go with each pop point. If we get to the area required for domination and don't quite have enough population, we can simply build a few more filler cities with the rest of our Motorized Settler stack -- or conquer another couple of cities to put us over the limit.

I do agree about switching to units instead of buildings. I was trying to optimize for breakpoints in my set -- getting marginal cities to 20 shields gets us another Infantry every 4 turns -- much better than having that city <10 shields.

Edit: I'm also happy with short-rushing Factories in the cities that have them half-built. Observatory is usually a good bet. Better than building a 200-shield Whippet, certainly!

I suspect Tusker was rather referring to the wastage of switching mid-build from a Factory with ~200 shields in the box, to a Whippet ;)
 
I am talking about the feasibility of building a factory right now not about in the past. Using Novgorod as an example:
Right now (in our golden age) it can produce 36 shields (hiring all cops and no engineers) per turn. It has been building a factory for 2 turns. The city screen shows it will take 7 turns to finish.
However our golden age is about to end and 36 shields will drop to 21 shields so it will take 12 more turns to finish. When the factory is built Novgorod will be producing 28 shields per turn.
Now a comparison:
If we had started building WWI infantry instead of a factory (or if we swap to infantry right now) we would finish a unit next turn and every 4 turns thereafter. Novgorod with a factory can build a WWI infantry unit once every 3 turns.
57 turns from now, when the 15th infantry unit is built, Novgorod with factory will finally catch up to no factory.
It is likely the game will end before we play another 57 turns. So we would have produced more infantry in Novgorod without the factory.
