Love in high school?

Absolutely possible. Does it happen often--no. And most of those who do say they are in love aren't. But you definitely can fall in love and I see no reason why not.

Shopping for love in your high school is like buying the first car you see on the lot or buying the first house you see for sale. Odds are pretty good your soulmate isn't one of the 200 you went to high school with.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with amadeus here.
While you will inevitably find affection in high school, most high school loves tend to fall apart due to emotional immaturity.

I mean it isn't like some special metaphysical bond. You just like someone a lot more than others.

And if it is a special bond you probably aren't going to find that person out of the billions of humans on earth.

I hate to say it, but I basically agree. Chances are even if you are desperately in love with somebody, there are dozens, if not hundreds of people that would be better for you.

Edit: Though of course compatibility does equate with love. Opposites do attract in some cases.

Isn't love just liking someone a lot? Who said you could only love one person?

I'd say there were at least five girls from my high school that would have made a good long term partner. My first love was actually before high school.

Cue Ludacris.

It happens. It usually doesn't, though. Keep in mind that every single adult telling you that teenage love is, well, teenage, every single one of those adults spent seven years as a teenager already.

If adults had sex as often as most teenagers do to people they hardly know, it would probably be the same. Sex often ruins relationships.

:lmao:

Oh just you wait.

You do not know what love is, since what you are describing is not love.

So do you believe it's possible for two teenagers to ever love each other. Or do you believe that you can't have feelings for another person until you turn 18?

LOL do you realize how preposterous that sounds? Is 18 some "magical" age where brains develop? Of course people can fall in love prior to 18. It's a silly question.

edit: I should expand on that, since the poll questions are kinda weird. In fact, I should change my vote if I could. But oh well.

I do believe love can happen and does happen frequently. Just because they break up a lot doesn't mean they didn't love the person. The girl still cries usually (and maybe the guy cries too). People wouldn't cry if they didn't love the person. Is it a deep love? No. But it is love. Is it a mature love? No. But it is love. Call it puppy love if you want, but it is love. You don't cry for someone you don't love.

Now maybe I'm out of touch with what teenagers are doing now days (I'm sure I am), but at least when I was in high school teen age romances did have love. And people did cry when they broke up.

And to the above who says love is like like. Please. There are definite chemical changes in the brain. Scientific research has shown this. Love isn't some made up thing by romantics, it is real. Just because you are some antisocial nerd, doesn't mean the rest of us is. Don't say love isn't real.

I cried for my first love. I wasn't a teenager, but it was still my first. Was it a stupid love? Oh yes it was. I feel for the first woman to show me attention. It was very stupid. But that doesn't change the fact that I loved her. I could actually feel it in my brain- I'm serious here. I could actually feel it. It was a very stupid love, but it was love. I have no regrets, however. I'm so glad to be passed the first one, and learn from that experience.

If that is what takes to get her clothes off sure love can happen when your in high school just don't wait for that phone call in mourning though.

Oh look, another thread about love on a gaming site :coffee:

please. Like people who like computer games can't fall in love? Are we not allowed to discuss these topics because we aren't cool enough? Do you seriously think we are all virgins?

fair enough. Actually I wonder... Out of curiosity how many OTérs are virgins. I assume most are not, but perhaps I am mistaken.

But of course it's different now days. Back in my day people didn't have casual sex with people they didn't have feelings for. You had to go out with someone for a while. Teens now days just do it with anyone. I hate doing it with strangers. It isn't very enjoyable. I don't see why teens would do this. So it is possible many people aren't virgins, but still haven't been in love.
