So, this is an idea from the ah.com forums, where we first worldbuild a scenario, and then people continuously change small things about it as the years go on.
What we need for this phase is, of course, the worldbuilding.

Capital: Gāon (AKA Hong Kong)
Religion: Taoist
Brief History: Gāo Shi leaded a successive revolt in the 13th century to install a Taoist power. Forming a council based theocracy the goverment solidified power in the 14th century and now under guidance of the Supreme Sage Lǚ Wen the theocratic power now strives to ensure its vision of the middle path is safe guarded.

Brief History:
The Great Khaganate swept over sea just as well as over land. Though twice repelled by the divine winds, the Mongol Emperor Kublai spat in the face of the gods who dared refuse to bow to him. And so, a third army assembled, Resplendent in Gold and Red, leering Saracens and Dour Steppe folk, vassals of the great khan, alongside Chinese Wise men and Bearded Muscovite Warriors, but among them none stood so fearsome as the Mongols themselves.

Together they swept over the islands of Nippon in the name of the Great Khan. At their head was prince Jingim, he who was educated in the ways of the Mongols, Arabs, and Chinese, and he made a mountain of the skulls of those who resisted. In Kublai's name, the Emperor's head was sent to Karakorum with the Emperor's Wife and daughter, to join in the Khan of Khan's Harem.

Prince Jingim, Worthy as he was, was given the Islands to rule, and, established himself as a wise and fearsome leader. For their defiance, and that of their gods, half of all Japanese were sent to the mainland, to toil until their defiance was erased. In their place, their land was given to all the men in the army who desired land. Arabs and Muscovites and Steppe men and Mongol took from the land what was due to them, and, in time it became their land.

Name of Nation: Ghulam Sultanate/Mamluk Sultanate

Religion: The Path (Syncretism of Jainism and Sunni Islam)
According to the Path, the way to salvation is non - violence and detachment from the material world. Its ontologigcal and metaphysical positions are governed by complex theological systems, the core of which is that Muhhamed was enlightened by Allah, who is seen as an embodiment of all the cosmic laws, and that the Quran is an amalgamation of holy texts whose goals is to lead followers to peaceful ascension. However, some holy Muslim tenets, like the Haji and Ramadan are not accepted as something religious but rather as something personal, since they are actions that can reduce negative karma, but nevertheless actions that are not for everyone.

History: The Ghulams solidified their power in India when the Ghurid Sultanate's power in India disminished. The Sultanate under Iltutmish established cordial diplomatic contact with the Abbasid Caliphate between 1228–29 and had managed to keep India unaffected by the invasions of Genghis Khan and his successors. However, the Hindu populations was unruly, and a part of the population were adherents of Jainism. For this reason, the Ghulam Sultans patronised Jainism and tried to gradually push for a syncretisation of Sunni Islamic and Jainist theological thought with moderate success.

Sukhothai Sultanate

Religion: Islam

History: Thailand was largely Islamised in the 15th and 16th centuries thanks to influence by traders from Hindustan and Nusantara, and an unstable political climate in the immediate aftermath of the fall of Angkor. The Sukhothai Sultanate was established after Naresuan, king of its eponymous kingdom, converted to Islam after a vision in 1590, and during his rule seized control of a wide empire.

State: Empire of Brunei

Religion: Hinduism (local form, fusion of Kaharingan, Agama Tirtha Dharma, and classical Hinduism with local animist influences as well.). Theravada Buddhist and pure animist minorities.

History: The Kings of Brunei gradually spread over the 15th and 16th centuries their dominion across the island of Borneo, and into Sulawesi and Palawan and across the sea to Malaya (during times of local turmoil). Thanks to the influence of high-caste hindu refugees during the downfall of the Khmer Empire, and interaction with the peoples of Java and Bali Borneo has become a strong patron of Hinduism and native beliefs, standing as a bulwark against the alien Islamic influence of Thailand in the region.

History: After a Taoist revolt in the South during the 13th century, the Sung Dynasty collapsed. In 1360, General Yang Ming overthrew the Imperial Dynasty and established the Ming Dynasty. The new dynasty prospered thanks to trade and export of silk.

Religion: Buddhism

History: Established by Duan Siping on the bones of the old Nanzhao kingdom, the kingdom of Dali is a hardy nation, turning back the Mongol horde in 1253 and later surviving a religious rebellion that toppled the neighboring Sung dynasty. With the Duan dynasty still in power, Dali has since prospered thanks to its vast wealth in mineral resources, becoming a significant power in the metals market. This in turn led to the establishment of several impressive temples and shrines, making Dali a popular pilgrimage destination for Buddhists.

After many years of Indian threats of invasion, the Sri Lankan people took up arms and invaded the Eastern Ghats of southern India. With a powerful king ruling them, they conquered and stabilized the area.
